Keith Jackson: Rangers want players to take a pay cut..
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Dundee has a Hilton? Where did they steal that from!! Jeez its so long since Ive been in Dundee. I was thinking that maybe they didn't need to stay anywhere but in that case they would need to travel early in case of traffic and then they would be stuck in Forfar for hours before kick off doing nothing so they would need a place to prepare.- 53 replies

Hot Rangers strip wearing celebs - Happy Birthday Pete! :-)
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Glad you put the word 'some' because some of them are shocking! Just needed a Susan Boyle at the end with a Celtic strip on. -
I agree, there is to much of a "you or us" mentality IMO. In every company in the world people wont get on with people including staff getting on with bosses, but if you have a good employee you don't get rid of them based on not getting on with them.

Will we see him on Match of the day with an interpreter standing next to him? To translate the likes of "Wat a fud"
-
That's why you set up with a 3-5-2 then have your defensive midfielder or 2 to get back and defend.
-
Agree but 3-5-2 works if you play players in natural positions. 3 natural centre halves, 5 natural midfielders (this includes holding players, creative players and proper wingers) and 2 strikers. Liverpool have done it this season and done well. And I hate to admit the best Celtic side ive ever seen was under O'Neill played this.

The Goalie - Confirmed new Ayr UTD goalkeeping coach
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
He would be the worst of the second keepers, bit of a screw up aswell in the 1994 cup final against Dundee Utd. Billy Thompson was a cracking keeper in his day but Utd got the best out of him, he was more a coach when he came to us hence not mentioning him. -

And Ginzburg. But 2 out of 15 isn't bad going! -

I think goal keepers are the only position in the last 25 years that we cant have a compliant about therefore it doesn't matter who is doing the goal keeping coaching it seems they are doing their job. Woods, Goram, Klos and McGregor first choice. And now Bell is probably the best we could ask for in league 1. Maxwell, Snelders, Niemi, Wattereus, Charbonnier and Alexander all back up along with emergency keepers like Dibble and Myhre. -
Can only remember him playing for Dundee utd, but echo the sentiments, sad news. He was part of that cracking side that got to the UEFA final in 1987-88 and knocked out Barcelona. IIRC there was an article by him posted on here a few months ago that was a good read....

And Craig Moore midfield hence why it didn't work. When it should have been something like in 1996-97: _________________Goram_____________ _____Moore_____Gough____Bjorklund _________McInnes____I Ferguson_____ Laudrup______Gascoigne_____Albertz ____________Durie_____Van Vossen____

I keep hearing pundits saying its an ageing team but its anything like an old squad. Only Ferdinand and Giggs are nearing the end of their careers. Evra, Carrick and Vidic are wrong side of 30 but could easily do 2 years at the top level. De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Cleverley, Juanazai and Zaha are all young. The players like Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez, Young, Nani, Valencia, Fletcher, Felliani and Kagawa should all be at their peak. Its all about the lack of quality. Throw Mata and Modric into that squad and all of a sudden it would look very different.

Coventry started the season -10 points, so had they not they would be 5th and in the play offs, therefore Id say they are doing pretty well. TBH I forgot who Fleck was playing for these days, but I have been keeping an eye on their score every weekend to see how they are doing and I'll be reading a bit more from now on to see how Fleck is getting on. Id say things were probably unfair on him, he played a few matches and showed some glimpse of quality and all of a sudden he was going to be the next Rooney, it was so far off it was unreal. The only comparison he had with Rooney was build, looks and a tough tackle.

Terry Butcher keen to bring Shiels to Hibs.......(Sky sports transfer news)
-
Ive been saying the same for a while, yet can also see the argument FOR the signings as its a catch22 due to promotion being an absolute must every season. Just read Peter Lovenkrands is out of contract in the summer and at 33 qualifies for a 3 year deal with us
-
QotS are playing in a higher league. Cant compare. How much had they scored this time last year?
-
Easier to score for QotS than it is for Rangers in the 3rd tier? If everything was being done right id say the opposite.
-
By the sounds of it he isn't being let loose to do what he does best and to bring the best out of him. Not a dig at Clark in any sense, more a case of bad tactics not bringing the best out of players. When he signed the comments were 'if he can score 40 for QotS then how many will he get for Rangers'
-
Agreed. And as for QotS. They had a striker who hit 40+ goals in this league this season, we sign him and he hasn't hit a quarter of that. Whats that thing about giving Rangers a new player and they will ruin him? Im starting to believe that.
-
Im with you on that but that is down to hindsight. But the other option of course was to go with the young ones and let them loose, while retaining experience like McCulloch to get them over the line. A big error IMO even with or without money was to sign run of the mill SPL players to get us through the leagues on contracts that means they will still be there in the top flight. Unless they drastically improve then will they be good enough to finish top 2 in the league or will be have to splash more to sign a better quality of player. 2 examples are Templeton and Shiels, both have been a disaster. Templeton should be cruising this league and going with the same attitude as Wallace in getting into the Scotland squad. Shiels has been unlucky with injury but when he has played has been a disappointment.

Match Preview Schedule - Volunteer to write a Gersnet Match Preview

You've set yourself up now, we'll be expecting a belter of a preview on March 29 now -
I can understand ugly wins away from home on these tight grounds with the opposition being fired up and aggression going in, its hard to play Barca-esk football like that. But at Ibrox where the pitch should be in good condition, the opposition come with a different approach and we control games we should see far more the team. As it was on occasion that some teams late last season were coming and being the better footballing side! There is no excuse for that.
-
Beaten by the team that was above them yesterday, 2-0 at home to Partick, that leaves them 19 adrift of Ross County now and 20 adrift of Partick and played 1 game more. Even if they got their 15 points back they are still bottom, therefore they have zero chance now.

Fergie took over a team that hadn't won the league for 26 years and needed time. Moyes has taken over the champions.
