  1. Barcelona are probably in the top 3 in Europe still even with an ageing Xavi and Iniesta. But I agree Bayern are head and shoulders above the rest. But if Man City do get past Barca in an impressive manner then it will open eyes to make them genuine contenders, but the Barca games will be a real test. So Far they have came up against the most of Englands top sides and they stuffed Tottenham twice, put 6 past Arsenal, put 4 past Man Utd and beat Liverpool. They did lose at Stamford Bridge but Mondays game will be interesting. If they win that with ease then it will be another eye opener. Whats impressed me is he has taken players like Nasri who were in and out and turned him into the player he was at Arsenal. Agree money talks and without these owners Man City would be a top 8 team again. But this season bringing Pellegrini in has given them a more professional look. There is no off field capper with the likes of Balotelli and Tevez acting up and even Mancini was partial to controversial moments. Those reasons made Man City look amateurish and I didn't want them to win anything seeing that but now they look the real deal and they get on with their business and if Arsenal don't win the league then I hope Man City do over Chelsea and Liverpool. TBH Id barely heard of Pellegrini before. But for him to come in and he seems to have the respect of the players and is in control - that's superb managing considering the money these players are on. He has a likeable side to him and I hope he does well. As said if Arsenal don't win it then Id like to see City win...at the moment they would be deserving champs. But Pellegrini has also brought them on in Europe. Mancini was getting stuffed every game. Kallstorm has been brought in to cover the midfield which is the one area you'd think they didn't need any cover but the injury list has once again hit. He is a decent player and having Wilshire and Ramsay out may bring the best out of Ozil as they may be forced to play more of a diamond trio in midfield with more natural wide players in Gnarby / Ox-Cham / Podolski....I think that will bring the flow of Ozil out more. Disappointed they didn't get Draxler but more so that Wenger didn't buy a striker. That could cost them the league IMO. You mentioned Negredo earlier who is Citys 2nd striker - compare that to Bendtner and that's the difference. Bringing in 35 million Diego Costa half way through a season may upset the rhythm a bit as he would expect to be first pick but the no brainer was Berbatov for me. He would be outstanding for Arsenal. He wouldn't be first pick, he'd be straight swap for Giroud when required. He wouldn't need to track back which ruins his game and he has that touch of brilliance and being in a footballing team he'd have produced the goods.
  2. I know we need cash but there should be uproar if we don't sell him for more than we paid for him. Making a loss on one of our best players and a consistently good performer would be unacceptable. Ally, Durrant and Kenny should be doing everything on the training field to make our left hand side pretty formidable for Scottish level. We have Wallace and Templeton who are both capable of playing for Scotland and they should be working on a partnership. Robertson and Laudrup obviously had a great understanding in the 90s and while Wallace and Templeton wont get to that level of quality they should still be ripping up defences in this league and next year.
  3. Happy birthday Ze Hammer! Would probably be able to still get a game for us today! My all time top 4 Gers players are Laudrup, Gascoigne, Super Ally and Albertz. Putting them into a specific order is always very difficult but Ally was a born and bread legend, the other 2 famous European players and Albertz was unknown - so him to get into that level shows what a top job he did. People forget him played in the 9IAR season and was only 1 of a handful that Advocaat kept and then we got the best out of him.
  4. Just awesome at the moment! Nobody will stop them winning the league now they are in front. They have Chelsea up next and if they win that its over. Arsenal dropping points at Southampton shows they don't have the strength City or Chelsea do. Pundits and managers in England saying they are the best in the world, but that's off the mark. They are they best in England only. If they stuff Barca in the CL then we'll debate how good they are on a world level. But Pellegrini has basically taken Mancini's team and improved them.
  5. If we get hit with that then we pull out of the Scottish Cup, hit them back where it hurts.

    mobile phone

Ive found many mobiles over the years and always found a number inside to call and try return the phone....I cant work out why anyone wouldn't do that.
  7. Agree with that. Warnock is annoying but he knows how to win games. His was out of his depth in the premier league but is probably one of the best managers at championship level which is pretty much where the SPL is. However he would have to be a last resort. Jimmy Calderwood is another who has an unpopular name but he'd be a good appointment IMO. And I still think Kevin Keegan would jump at the job and would be fantastic.
  8. As mentioned earlier there is what 5 million fans worldwide and 36000 season ticket holders....now if all fans stood together these spivs would have zero control, but they create the in-house fighting, I think you know the term divide and rule. And having the media to feed everyone the stories empowers them. Threads such as this is what they rub their hands at. Anyway there is many other Rangers men coming forward especially those with the multimillions in the bank. Perhaps its time for those to come forward a bit more and put up or shut up.
  9. And these con men are wanting in-house fighting, this is exactly their game plan. Ive no problem with SuperCoopers posts at all, as a paying fan he is 110% correct and entitled to say what he thinks about the football on show. And I would agree with his opinions on them. On the other side of the coin yes Ally is apparently the only Rangers man left in at the club and has done terrific as an ambassador to the club. I just wonder why Walter felt he had to walk away though.
  10. I wonder if its Billy Thomsons nephew Malky that has joined him.
  11. Yup so negative. 4-5-1 sets up not to lose. That's ok for Everton and with 1 or 2 players they will finish above the rest of the league outside the big boys. He qualifies for a future Rangers manager with those tactics.
  12. Out of another cup at home. Swansea and Sunderland put them out of 2 cups in space of 3 weeks. Shocking stat for Man U. How many pens needed to be missed!
  13. I was right though! There isn't a play off between the 2nd placed Championship team and 2nd bottom in top flight
  14. Says who? This is Doncaster and Co we are talking about. They were talking about changing it last season and tried to get away with it.
  15. In this league we could easily go 3-5-2 but in that system you have to have everyone playing in natural positions however it would mean leaving our best player Wallace out. But a natural 3-5-2 out of interest would be: :sf::ec: :ib::lm: :al: :jd: We'd have the options of Fraser Aird (who I haven't seen enough of) to come in for Andy Little. Hutton when fit could be a ready made replacement for any of the central midfielders there. McCulloch a back up centre half or striker. Shiels could go into Law's role if needed. As said the only downside is Wallace, unless he can also play as a centre half, but he could probably play as a left winger. It wouldn't necessarily be my first choice XI but in this league I don't think we need to be playing 4-5-1.
  16. Nothing like the old 1-11 so you know where every one plays rather than this Gridiron like squad numbers.
  17. Currently there is no play off between the team that finishes 2nd in the championship and 2nd bottom in the premier.....but I can see that changing or an expansion to 14 teams.
  18. Both XIs look very decent and baffles me as to why we play so bad (well it doesn't, its a combination of management, coaching and opposition). But how they would do in the top flight is tricky to judge.
  19. Hearts still have 2 seasons in the Championship though. But I can honestly see a restructure meaning 2 teams will go up next season.
  20. If we were in England it would be scary to think how much of a bigger mess we could end up with given Green, Whyte and Co could end up with 100 times what they got out of us last year. Yes the potential is there and we would have had a stronger squad but time wise we would have been league 2 at best. But if the original OP meant how would this team fair in England right now with the squad we have then my answer would be: With Ally we'd be bottom 6 in the Championship and Mid League 1. With a much better manager and coaching staff possibly mid Championship.
  21. Thread already going in footie chat, and Blackpool have confirmed Ferguson will take charge in the next game. Admin can merge the threads if they like, its semi rangers chat.
  22. Nobody would bat an eye lip if that was the reason. But if (an its only an if) the reason was due to a personality clash then its wrong.
  23. Selling someone for 7.5million when you already have a ready made replacement worth 4 times that (Scholes) is different from sending someone out on loan when you don't.
  24. You will have to watch it again now! 33 secs 45 secs 1.17 2.41 2.53 3.05 3.13 3.38 The rest are not bad though
  25. Some may say Alex Ferguson got rid of players, but he did so with Roy Keane at the end of Keane's career. There is no way he'd had got rid of Keane at his peak in the late 90s. And since retiring he has said his biggest mistake was letting Jaap Stam go.
