Don't think we've had a discussion on Boyd before. Certainly haven't had on whether I have been pro-Boyd. Long time posters on here will know I was his biggest critic. However this season I think we've seen a different player and I cant believe I would ever say that if we are being linked with him Id like him to return - mainly due to the position we are in. I still think he is a poor 'footballer' as such but he is a good poacher / scorer. 18 goals this season has kept Kilmarnock in the league until the final day and I wouldn't bet against him scoring today against Hibs. Looking at some of his goals from highlights and pictures I think we have got a guy who has matured late and realised what being a professional is all about. Ive no doubt his ventures in England, Turkey and USA (all of which were poor) has developed the 'person' Kris Boyd. I thought we wouldn't see him play again but to be edging towards a Scotland call up shows the hard work he has put in and he also looks far more fitter and stronger. Perhaps he thought he had made it when he came to Ibrox first time around and being part of Fergusons gang made him feel untouchable. If we was still a top flight team challenging for titles this wouldn't even be a thread but if we ever needed someone WANTING to prove his worth and banging the goals in the championship it might be Boyd now. If Ally could only find some tactical knowledge then playing Templeton, Macleod, Shiels and Law in creative positions then Boyd would score 20+ goals in the championship. But then again if Ally had tactical knowledge we maybe wouldn't need Boyd as Clark, Little and Daly may have got high tallys this season also and we'd be happy with them going into next season. I reserve the rights to retract this statement.

Id have thought the bookmaker was obliged to pay out. The bad press will probably mean a down taking on bets. I wonder what the odds of us going unbeaten next season are!!

SPL (or what ever) play off Hibs v Kilmarnock
Gribz replied to Gribz's topic in General Football Chat
Just noticed the Championship and league play offs have the format mentioned earlier that the 2nd bottom team plays the 4th placed team in division below rather than wait until the mini competition is over. So there is still 1 rule for SPL and 1 for the others. -
Your 1 up on the clubs scouting system then! Lets see if he can perform Welcome to the newbies

Hibernian refuse to allow TV coverage of crucial Kilmarnock match
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Got to agree with Hibz on this if no payment would be made, how can TV companies justify that! Still hope Boyd nets a nice 90th minute equalizer or winner. -
Im pretty sure if you put the pink one onto Eva Mendez cheapness wouldn't get a mention! Any photoshop geniuses want to have a bash at that?

Leeds or Coventry resemble us a bit more, Portsmouth were always punching above their weight while a club like Leeds are giants and hit disaster due to going on a similar run of ambition we was on.

It was the then squad of players prior to Admin Id have any gripe with for jumping ship and not helping the club in the hour of need rather other than pro's from years before that. But so far the fans haven't been quick to forget Whittaker, Naismith and Lafferty which is good.

SPL (or what ever) play off Hibs v Kilmarnock
Gribz replied to Gribz's topic in General Football Chat
Agreed but only the SPL / SFA could fuck this up. Having a first round play off between 3rd v 4th then another round for the winner v 2nd place team means one team potentially plays another load of games. Its designed to try keep the SPL side up. It should be 2nd bottom in top flight v 4th in Championship and 2nd v 3rd....... -
There is a thread on this and I mentioned Pulis also. Wouldn't put Poyet in there, he has had 4 great results of late but Allardyce did this a few months ago also to keep West Ham up but isn't near the running. A lot mentioning Pochettino also but not for me, he's done a good job but Southampton should have went for a cup. Not in any order but the 4 contenders should be: Rodgers - Taking Liverpool from 7th to near title winners. Naïve against Palace this week probably goes against him but if they pull off the title then he wins it. Pellegrini - Barring an unlikely defeat a League and Cup double. Pulis - Remarkable safety job from bottom to mid table. Gets my vote. Martinez - Taking Everton onto a better level and close to CL. Very close to getting my vote.

Good results last night see's Hibs slip into the play off spot. If Kilmarnock get a draw at Easter Road on Saturday then Hibs will be in the play off. If Hibs go down then its a wet dream for Doncaster and Co, how jammy can they get! Rangers v Hearts 4 times, Rangers v Hibs 4 times, Edinburgh derby 4 times. A top flight league of 18 is a must.

Title pretty much wrapped up and City have only been top of the league for 11 days this season compared to Arsenal's 128, Chelsea's 64 and Liverpools 59. So much for 'points on the board' is better. Cant see West Ham spoiling the party but in this season I wouldn't bet against it.

Yes and letting Gascoigne leave before the end of the season. A half fit Gazza would have got us over the line.

Little leaves while Hegarty and Perry told to find new clubs
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
With funds a doubt Id rather see us look at loan signings from Premier League English clubs rather than signing more run of the mill Scottish premiership players on 3 year deals who we will be stuck with for a few years. These players often came during WS in the 90s and played better due to the talent in the rest of the squad but under Ally its a shame they go backwards. If we could get a Kyle Bartley or that standard then it is a good move for the season ahead. -
Van Gaal agrees deal to become new manager of Manchester United
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I still think Mourinho would have been their best choice followed by Guardiola. But I think Rijkaard is the one they should have looked at, it was him who started Barcelona's great run. Van Gaal will improve Man Utd from Moyes which wont be hard but I still think the will be in a battle for top 4 position next season. Chelsea and Man City will be out in front again and Liverpool wont be as strong with CL football. Arsenal HAVE to get stronger. Spurs and Everton will depend on Thursday night football which is a pest and how they add to their squad. It wouldn't surprise me if De Boer and Bergkamp are in charge at Emirates next season. Wenger has said he is staying but that could mean in a role upstairs!! I think we may see a number of changes over the summer with Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa, Tottenham, West brom all making changes and it could have a knock on effect for the likes of Hull and Southampton. -
This type of gesture does exist though, I did this at the start of Div 3 with a ST.

Little leaves while Hegarty and Perry told to find new clubs
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Agree with that. Pay 30+ players who are at the end of their career ahead of developing youngsters. I fear giving Ally any future funds and fear going into next season with him in charge. Seems Little has posters split but I liked him, thought he was a decent striker and he did score 20 goals last season then didn't get a chance after an injury. At the start of the season Little, Clark, Hemmings and Daly was what I thought would be 4 decent strikers with variations and goals through out especially with Law, Shiels and Templeman providing plenty creation. Throw in McKay and Macleod then we had a chance of an attractive playing team. Also a fine statement from him and an applause for sticking by the club.... -
Yeah USA 94 was a cracking tournament aswell even if none of the home nations made it. The final itself was a let down though when it should have been a classic. But players like Romario, Hagi and Stoitchkov stand out from that WC.
-
It would be interesting if someone who has been to most games was to give each player a rating out of 10 and taking into consideration that they started the season well then faded away (Law and Daly).
-
If Man City don't win it now there is something wrong. 2 home games against Villa and West Ham and they just need 4 points.
-
Not a chance. Ghana are a good side but I expect Portugal and Germany to show their quality. Its very refreshing to have big teams against each other in group stages. Im well against seeding but its work out well here. Group C is a dream draw and how it should be.
-
It shows how far we have went backwards when Im actually thinking Boyd would be an improvement. Although its more that he seems to have matured in the last year - possibly from his Portland experience. But Ive no confidence in McCoist which is a shame. Players seem to go backwards under him. Daly and Clark are examples this season.

Only a month away. Being it Brazil should in theory be the best World Cup but some stadia are not even ready. We are due a good World Cup as the last 2-3 haven't been great. Mexico 86 was the first WC I can remember and is probably the greatest of all time. Italia 90 was good as was France 98. I fancy Argentina to win it. Groups below and Ive put in bold who i think will qualify from groups. Group A Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon Group B Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia Group C Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan Group D Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy Group E Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras Group F Argentina, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Iran, Nigeria Group G Germany, Portugal, Ghana, United States Group H Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea

A year or two too late for me, he perhaps shouldn't have left second time around. However he is a good option for next season and id expect him to get 15-20 goals.
