  1. Will be interesting to see how many ex Bears also make the WC. DaMarcus Beasley and Mo Edu are both in the USA squad.
  2. Ferguson He could ruin Macleod. Someone like Ray Wilkins or Trevor Steven would be the making of Macleod. Cuellar and Bougherra would be my first picks because as it stands our defence is a disaster waiting to happen. Cuellar was one of Villa's best defenders at his spell there then he made the wrong decision to go to a poor Sunderland team. He would cruise the Scottish league for 2-3 seasons. Blood in Gasparotto and McAusland (sp) with those 2 and Wallace / Smith would fill me with much more confidence than McCulloch and Moshni, although the latter does have his moments.
  3. Ally albeit with a heavy salary stuck around during times where we didn't know if we had a team or league to play in, Levein seems sneaky to me and comes in as the off field problems look behind them. It will make beating Hearts next season a bit sweeter.
  4. Another league where nobody seems to want to win it. Real lost with Barca and Atletico drawing meaning they have all dropped points again for another weekend. Sets up next weekend nicely. Barca v Atletico at the Nou Camp with a winner takes all game although Atletico just need a draw. Would like to see Atletico do the double but rather see them win the CL.
  5. Im glad he is employed so he doesn't make the available list for future Rangers manager. Worst Scotland manager of all time! Even though Locke wasn't great and Im no fan it does seem a bit harsh on him. Sounds a bit like 'thanks for getting us through the season when nobody else would but jog on"
  6. City deserving champs. They were the best team in the league. People judge on 'the now' but first half of the season they were looking unbeatable and scoring for fun until Chelsea went there and won. After that they were playing catch up due to games in hand. It wouldn't surprise me if they signed Messi over the summer. Yaya Toure can join the elite midfield from the premier league of Keane, Scholes, Vieira and Gerrard. Arsenal finished strongly and if they sign some world class over the summer they will challenge next season. They need a keeper, defender, winger and a striker. If they don't sign world class it will be them who drops out of the top 4. Liverpool will find it tougher next season, expectation will be to win the league but with the CL in their also they have to sign well. Man Utd will be stronger. With no European distractions they will be fresh every weekend and if they sign a midfield then they could be top 4 again. Chelsea will sign world class strikers. The competition next year is too close to call.
  7. 2 former 9IAR midfielders having good seasons. That result was on the cards and good to see 17000 witness the last minute goal
  8. Ideally one of them would convert to a right back.
  9. I am guessing Pete meant he is frustrated not pissed off...due to the fact Smith could have been a long term LB for many a year in his first spell and he has wasted his chance....maybe not though.
  10. We should have been finalists, whether we would have beaten Milan is another thing. But the levels of cheating going on their, I knew they had match fixed domestically but obviously they got to CSKA also. I was only 13 then, but still remember every match of the campaign clear as day
  11. I agree, if Arsenal had just signed a striker nor not lost Walcott they would be in it IMO and of course Chelsea slipped up against Sunderland and Norwich. Yet the title is won over 38 games, I keep hearing about how Liverpool have lost it but the same could be said for Chelsea. Also if City weren't playing catch up they would have led a lot longer. As a West Ham fan its a game I don't mind us not winning to see City win the league. I wanted Arsenal first but after they were out of it I wanted City or Chelsea so long as Liverpool don't win it. I think City will come out the blocks flying and score in the first 5 minutes and it will be wrapped up.
  12. I just see a bit of a pattern of players going backwards under this management team. Yes you could argue injuries and lack of a run of games hasn't shown them properly but I got the impression Clark was a player who liked the ball to feet and played in behind defenders therefore the Dave McPherson lump it into row Z passing game isn't going to suit him.
  13. Additionally Ally played in a time when Scottish football wasn't light years behind the top European leagues and could score against anyone - English Champions Leeds twice / Oh and that striker against Switzerland at Villa Park in Euro 96 was possibly his best goal. 2 golden boots! Ally was a top European striker. Ally got that goal against Celtic, that was my favourite OF game as a kid used to play it back for about 2 years afterwards. I moved to England a few months after that game and Scottish football wasn't shown on TV so I took the video of it with me and watched that game loads.
  14. No I agree, Ive always rated Miller but his directness and way he gets in behind has been his asset. Im not saying he would be a poor signing, it would all depend on IF his game / pace has decreased during his time in Vancouver. Again, we are playing in the Championship therefore he should be more than good enough for that.
  15. It would be great if Falkirk or Hamilton beat Hibs but those 2 have now got a couple of tough games against each other which is in Hibs favour. What would also be good is if the Championship has pretty little TV rights and Rangers, Dunfermline, Hibs and Hearts are all there. Cant see too many tuning into the top flight enjoyment of St Mirren v Motherwell.
  16. Following this thread, we're just waiting on one from you about Barry Ferguson returning. I thought there would be more chance of that than me ever starting a sort of pro-Boyd thread.
  17. Boydy does it again.....45 mins and Hibs are in the play offs. Surely a first for the 2 Edinburgh sides to finish as the bottom 2 in the league.
  18. My mate got married on the same day as Rangers v Celtic at Ibrox - August 2005 the game Buffel ran the show and he is a season ticket holder. Havent spoken to him since.
  19. One thing is for sure, he wont get 14/1 next season.
  20. He will get 25 goals in the Championship and considering we are playing teams equivalent and less than SPL bottom 6 he could score for fun but needs the service. Agree he is a better option than Daly. I have always been a big fan of Miller but if he has lost 2 yards of pace then his game will be poor, same kind of situation as Michael Owen, as soon as he lost pace there was nothing to his game.
  21. Don't think we've had a discussion on Boyd before. Certainly haven't had on whether I have been pro-Boyd. Long time posters on here will know I was his biggest critic. However this season I think we've seen a different player and I cant believe I would ever say that if we are being linked with him Id like him to return - mainly due to the position we are in. I still think he is a poor 'footballer' as such but he is a good poacher / scorer. 18 goals this season has kept Kilmarnock in the league until the final day and I wouldn't bet against him scoring today against Hibs. Looking at some of his goals from highlights and pictures I think we have got a guy who has matured late and realised what being a professional is all about. Ive no doubt his ventures in England, Turkey and USA (all of which were poor) has developed the 'person' Kris Boyd. I thought we wouldn't see him play again but to be edging towards a Scotland call up shows the hard work he has put in and he also looks far more fitter and stronger. Perhaps he thought he had made it when he came to Ibrox first time around and being part of Fergusons gang made him feel untouchable. If we was still a top flight team challenging for titles this wouldn't even be a thread but if we ever needed someone WANTING to prove his worth and banging the goals in the championship it might be Boyd now. If Ally could only find some tactical knowledge then playing Templeton, Macleod, Shiels and Law in creative positions then Boyd would score 20+ goals in the championship. But then again if Ally had tactical knowledge we maybe wouldn't need Boyd as Clark, Little and Daly may have got high tallys this season also and we'd be happy with them going into next season. I reserve the rights to retract this statement.
  22. Id have thought the bookmaker was obliged to pay out. The bad press will probably mean a down taking on bets. I wonder what the odds of us going unbeaten next season are!!
  23. Just noticed the Championship and league play offs have the format mentioned earlier that the 2nd bottom team plays the 4th placed team in division below rather than wait until the mini competition is over. So there is still 1 rule for SPL and 1 for the others.

    Welcome Thread

Your 1 up on the clubs scouting system then! Lets see if he can perform Welcome to the newbies
  25. Got to agree with Hibz on this if no payment would be made, how can TV companies justify that! Still hope Boyd nets a nice 90th minute equalizer or winner.
