League construction decided!??! Maybe they cant risk Rangers not going up so they will bring in a 16 team league after all with no relegation, Rangers Hibs and QotS being promoted with Hearts.

Absolutely essential we get the right manager in for next season

Not for me. Done pretty miserably at club level and is as arrogant as they come. -

Seems like there is going to be a manager merry go round, Moyes linked with West Ham with Allardyce going to Sunderland. Meaning Advocaat being available, id take him back if he would come. -
Both! Would be a tad ironic if McCall ends up playing against his former team (Motherwell) in the final.

Just stupidity all round. What it should be is 4th place v 11th SPL and 2nd v 3rd....winners play each other.

John Carver says defender 'got sent off on purpose'
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I was kind of hoping to see Villa go down. A lot of pundits were saying Newcastle were already safe with 35 points, no way were they after Sunderland, Leicester and Villa having all winnable games yesterday. I thought Hull were going to be the 3rd team to join Burley and QPR but they have won 2 and I fancy them to get another point off Arsenal tomorrow. Therefore Newcastle could be heading down. They only thing going for them is they have decent fixtures. -

This would be a possible scenario. However if Brentford dont go up it is hardly a FAIL. Taking them to 5th and the play offs is over-achievement as it is. I dont see how we couldnt temp them if we go up and Brenford dont. Weir would fancy it. I dont see too many Premier League clubs taking a chance on them. Only Newcastle, West Ham and possibly Sunderland are going to go for new managers in the summer. Sunderland may go for Advocaat if he keeps them up or Allardyce. West Ham are going to go for someone higher profile and Newcastle will struggle. Plus also depends on who stays up. -
I think an entry fee for ST of a fiver would be ok with non ST playing 8-10 quid.

That really puts a disadvantage on the 4th / 3rd team. 8 days between the 1st round (not sure why they call it a quarter final). Why do they need such a gap. Then it jumps down to a game every 3 days. The English system is 3 days between the knock out then a week before the final.

McCall: I want the Rangers job next season so I can help rebuild the club
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I think we can safely say McCall isnt the man. He didnt have his own players but thats not the argument, he duffed up tactics and decisions. -

He is only being linked with Newcastle. So for him it could be either Ashley or Ashley. Its an ambitious punt but why not? -

Steve McLaren could be available in 2 hours time as Derby are losing meaning they could miss out on the play offs. For the majority of the season he has done well and is someone who would appeal to me at Ibrox -

Im in agreement with you, thats what I mean by his previous CV doesnt do him much good. An option would be to unearth the next Eddie Howe. What he has done is remarkable. The guy at Norwich who went from Hamilton also has done well in the last 2 years. Im not saying go for these guys or the likes but it shows there has to be some young ambitious managers / coaches out there. Celtic have brought in an unknown guy from Norway and over the season has changed the way they play, so a punt at someone from the not so elite Euro leagues is another option. But we should be looking now regardless. -

Nobody can be judged over a short run of games, his job was to get promotion via play offs. But what is going against him is his lack of tactical knowledge and inability to make big decisions like dropping players. His previous CV doesnt do him any favours either. The ambition has to be a far more proven manager who will excite the club / fans and put a bit of worry in the others. It needs to make a statement that we are on the way back to the top. Likes of McCall and Billy Davies will just waste a few years by maybe a run of 2nd place finishes while that and allow Celtic to win a few more titles. It was good to hear Butcher got the Newport job yesterday so he would be out of the running. It shows none of the teams in Englands top 2 tiers fancied him. -
Tom Lang - Birmingham City defender on trial at Ibrox

Not only does the playing field need changes at the back the coaching side has been screaming out for a top quality defending coach. -

I dont rate Fellaini, certainly not at 27 million but McCulloch makes him look a player. -
Football fans to be breathalysed before matches
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Its not part of an anti-social behavior, its part of a long term control agenda. How can they say / prove that alcohol makes people angry and violent.....yes there will be a few donkeys who act stupid but some people can become a happier person with drink. -

The guy just seems to be a guaranteed pick so he may aswell decide himself where he plays. -
I hope that's the case because if not then he has caught McCoists bug. Playing like we have been this season we would struggle for top 6. The likes of Dundee Utd, Inverness, Aberdeen are way better than the likes of Alloa, Cowdenbeath and Livingston that we have struggled against.

Afraid it was gone long before Llambias. Celtic have been streets ahead of the game in other continents where you can walk into shops and see their stuff hung up in view but finding a Rangers shirt has been difficult. The last shop I bought our home top a few seasons ago was in a rack at the back and had plastic over it. This shop brings in absolutely loads of European teams shirts.

SPFL to have a new sponsor ‘by next season’
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
There has been some belting shite coming from their corner over the years but that is funny. Why wouldn't they just admit something like "the value of the deal depends on Rangers v Celtic games as it attracts as much viewers as any other big game in Europe (well it used to)". I think people ay applaud a bit of honesty and every chairman in the league knows that Rangers being promoted sells them more season tickets and brings in more TV revenue for them. I think they could even say it doesn't have to be Rangers. If Hibs and Hearts are in the league then the Edinburgh derby also brings in added value albeit nothing near as much as Rangers v Celtic. I think its safe to say if Rangers and possibly Hibs are in the Championship next season then league reconstruction will be rolled out. -
Bayern München Sign Record-Breaking Adidas Kit Deal
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Puma are on the rise, they have just as many stores around this region as Nike and Adidas. The quality of some of their stuff is really good. They also offer official merchandise for Ferrari and BMW (like adidas do with Porsche) I bought a couple of Puma t-shirts and went back and got more Ferrari ones as they were good and very 'casual dressy'. Also seen the Arsenal stuff everywhere and it seems to be good quality and looks good. Yet I cant work out why our kit looks cheap and nasty. -
Gabriel Amato was the most skilful player Ive ever seen....ironically Mols replaced him. Although Amato was skilful it didn't do the team any good unlike Gazza and Laudrup. Agree RE De Boer, fantastic player in the Bergkamp mould.

Surely on the wind up. McLeish quite possibly is the worst tactician in the name of football.
