  1. Just posted that in the football thread - I restrained from your bold bit 😀
  2. Lampard has got the gig at Coventry. The Championship should maybe have its own thread considering it throws up regular posts.
  3. I was meaning Harsh for Compo's bet
  4. Harsh. Difficult to pick games tonight. Tottenham v Roma will be the stand out on paper. Hearts go to play the other Brugge club.
  5. Nice only have 2 points so far so its a must win for them. Their domestic form isnt bad (5th in ligue 1). With no out and out left winger it may be likely that Bajrami plays there tonight although when he is listed as the 10 it looks at lot more positive but I expect Diomande to play as the 10. Only a back 3 would half solve that. I dont see Clement playing this but Id like to see the following (Dessers misses a lot but does score in Europe). Butland Souttar Propper Balogan Sterling Raskin Barron Jefte Cerny Bajrami Dessers
  6. And Man City are one of their final 3 fixtures. Hopefully there are no seedings in the play off round but either way it will through up some belters as it stands. Another top rule with this format is nobody dropping into the Europa.
  7. Real Madrid one place above the "relegation" zone, thats too much traffic to get past to Auto qualify although still possible but I would think have the teams above them will win games. This format is good as big teams are being found out a bit rather than having beating boys in the group. Although maybe 36 teams is too much. But Liverpool are impressive under Slot. Its been a dream handover from Klopp. Im not sure how the fixtures work but Leipzig got dealt a terrible hand - Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool and Inter Milan (cant include Celtic as that was winnable).
  8. What odds would you have got for a draw on the 74th minute!! There are some big teams with a lot of work to do in the final 3/4 games of the "league" stage. I think with this type of league teams thought its a marathon not a sprint but that is all wrong.
  9. West Ham finally clicked last night, although I think Newcastle thought they just had to turn up for this game. Will wait and see if this was a one off performance from West Ham but with Arsenal at the weekend we may have to wait until Leicester next Tuesday. Speaking of Leicester I see Potter ruled himself out of ANOTHER job, does this guy want to manage or has been promised a certain club at some point.
  10. Late into the thread but Saturday was one of the most depressing games Ive seen in a long time - thankfully I had had a night out previously and hair of the dog softened the watching. Playing Dundee Utd was always one of my favourite fixtures. What has happened to the positive Scottish Cup Final in May - we were robbed and after that game I was thinking we have a right chance of the league playing like we did that day. I think Clement thinks we are in Belgium and he is driving down the motorway on the wrong side of the road! I think Rousseau posted the manager stats a week or so ago and forgot to reply - after reading them I wondered if we sacked Gio too soon - If I could see them again Im sure it showed Gio never got a full season in charge yet we were a crocked loan player missed pen away from winning Europe's second prize. I got contact from my childhood best mate who Ive not spoke to for 18 years but he still has a ST - his view was simple - Clement is PLG 2.0 and its not a view Ive heard before but has some certain merit. The only saving grace at the moment is we seem to be a different team in Europe and are still in a good position. But the SPL is over for another year. I think Aberdeen's bubble has burst a bit but we dont look like we can get going to catch them.
  11. It looks like he will have to navigate through a tough World Cup qualification group. The recent poor run means Scotland will likely be third seeds. Only a win in Poland with Portugal winning in Croatia and a 3 goal swing would make a jump to Top / Second seed.
  12. Nah the reply was that I obviously wasnt there in the early to mid 80s - which was right. A bit like Chevy Chase blowing the power grid out in National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, Calscot caused Internet blackouts when he posted - but a very good debater. I dont recall anyone from Bournemouth.
  13. While it was good to see Barron get recognition with a call up Im glad he didnt play as we need him fit. When everyone is fit the current midfield is as strong as its been for at least a decade but every other area is the weakest I can remember. The keepers, centre halves and strikers that can be listed from mid to late 80s until mid 2000s is just a different level.
  14. Good stuff. I still remember you was the first person to respond to my first ever post in 2002 or 2003 when I stated that Gers team under McLeish was the worst ever - how wrong was I???!! Cant believe you left Calscot out with the amount of lengthy debates he used to have with everyone. He certainly had the highest word count on the leader board 😃 Craig as well - where on earth is he?? (literally) I met up with 8ball in Singapore a good few years ago now but not seen him on here since. He maybe got a shock at the type of bar I dragged him and his misses to. Met Del once or twice for Pittodrie tickets but must be 20 years ago now though as Ive been away 19 years. Was supposed to buy a Sega Mega Drive with sensible soccer from him!! The last meet up I went at Ibrox was Jan 2004 the Greek defender Kyriakos(??) debut - Myself, Cammy, Frankie, 8ball, Smalce, BMCK, Jimll and there was a few others. @stewarty Give JonC my best. And where is your old side kick Juffery??
  15. I was watching the darts but reading the live text, had no idea it was on telly though. Imagine the difference in our team right now with Ferguson and Mendes in the midfield at the peak of their powers with Novo on the right. (awaiting Gonzo to bring up time machines dont exist 😃). Just a different level.
  16. Is Shilton only on that list because of his Caps tally? If Clemence wasnt around he'd have got nearer 170 caps. Yet I dont think he was as good as Leighton or Goram.
  17. That referee Coote has landed himself in it. What was he thinking saying that with a camera stuck in his face. I know there is hidden cameras like what happended with Allardyce but this phone is clearly in front of him and he even says that the video cant be let out. He wont ref again in the Premier League - considering there are already about 5 decisions involving Liverpool where he didnt give them the decision - the most blatant had to be Odegaards hand ball.
  18. By reading the comments Im glad I didnt stay up to watch the game.
  19. I was right about Ipswich winning, Tottenham are so inconsistent and their squad doesnt have depth to compete Thursday / Sunday. They could have been third if they won. Arsenal out of the title race, they wont overhaul Liverpool 10 points especially with no striker. 1 point separating 3rd to 9th in the league.
  20. Yeah but I actually dont mind Slot so far.
  21. An entertaining game at Brentford. Cracking win for Fulham and they are one of 4 teams on 18 points and climb above Villa. Liverpool open up a 5 point gap and they have City at home in a couple of weeks, they could start to run away with it. Villa being in the Champions League is affecting their league form, they have been poor for 6 weeks. Total bore fest at West Ham, that has to end Lopetegui's short reign at the club. The fans were split of probably 75/25 over Moyes, it is 100/0 on this manager.
  22. Just thinking this games means its the beginning of round 2 of matches - second time we've played Hearts. We've played everyone except Dundee - what is it with that fixture that doesnt want to go ahead. It was postponed about 7 times last season and we cant fit them in this season (cup excluded).
  23. Last year I had Bournemouth to go down but they finished a record 9th. This year I was expected things to catch up with Brentford and felt they would be in a relegation fight but they are again doing well. Fair play to them both.
  24. Last round of games before another international break, having 3 of these is way to much. A lot to play for, West Ham manager must win or he is out. Wolves in the same boat, an absolute must win. Man City will bounce back, Liverpool will keep going but I see Arsenal losing again. I have a sneaky that Ipswich will get their first win of the season. Brentford 2-2 Bournemouth Crystal Palace 2-1 Fulham West Ham 2-1 Everton Wolves 2-0 Southampton Brighton 1-3 Man City Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa Man Utd 2-0 Leicester Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle Tottenham 0-1 Ipswich Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal
  25. Another bizarre kick off time - 5pm. And other another pointless international break following this game. Need a bit of redemption against Hearts from the opening game of the season where we didnt show up. They were the better team that day but they have been awful since, but a bit like Aberdeen they always seem to turn up against us.
