Im just a fan of the old fashioned way like Arsenal, Everton and to an extent Man Utd where the manager has the final say.

They can go out and blow mad money on Pogba now. It does seem a bit inverted that Man City have restrictions yet the money spent is pocket change for the owners but Man Utd don't have restrictions but have a (manageable) 9 figure debt.

Funnily I just said Leicester were bottom of the league for over 100 days in the other thread but they stayed up probably luckily. Over last season Burnley seemed to have a bit more dignity and won more fans than Leicester. So its an interesting tie and will be a good gauge for Warburton. We don't exactly want to bring Man Utd or Chelsea up to ibrox at the moment like in previous summers.

He has had a few spats last season with a fan, then McArthur and a Journalist then the Thailand saga. They were bottom of the league for over 100 days, they just made a great escape. Lennon and Allardyce the early favourites.

Its Premier League BTW and has been for over 10 years. Premiership is rugby or the Scottish League.

I just hope a season on the bench hasn't made him a bit rusty. Wenger has a difficult task picking Arsenals starting XI when everyone is fit. Man Utd could be getting Ramos and Schneiderlin this week.

Back four looks promising and with Weir working with them can only improve.

Chelsea - very low key. Looking at Rob Green and Asmir Begovic to replace Cech. Begovic is too good to be a back up, I would say he is top 5 in the league. Green is a keeper I rated at West Ham, his percentage of saving penalties is great. At 35/36 he would be perfect for Chelsea back up. Also linked with Alex Song but he wont get a starting position there so imagine West Ham will get him. Falcao the only other mentioned as a replacement for Drogba.

A thread for the moves in the Premier league. Liverpool spending early but similar to last year not brining in marquee names. I know nothing of Firmino. Milner will be a good addition for work rate and experience but isn't the player that will win them a title. Clyne is a good signing but how much better than Glen Johnson is he? Origi looked good a the world cup last summer but didn't have a great season in France, I read he made the worst XI of the season. Gomez seems one for the future. Ings was decent for Burnley but is he a CL type player? They need to start selling now as Balotelli, Borini and Lambert will be wasting wages. Arsenal - Petr Cech solves their long standing goalkeeper crisis, I just hope he hasn't got rusty over 12 months on the bench. Seems likely they will miss out on Schneiderlain probably because Wenger already has too many midfielders. Man Utd - Depay - again I don't know to much. They are linked to everyone at the moment. Man City - Wanting Pogba, De Bruyne and Sterling but haven't signed as of yet. West Ham - Payet and Obiang in, probably Alex Song to follow. A few other low key signings but there should be some big ones coming up over the next month.

Just the same as the way Ferguson was sweating when he refused to pull weight under PLG??? And Kris Boyd didn't break sweat (probably never did) running up to the fans with 6 fingers (Fergusons number) the week after. I cant quite believe BF even said that. Ferguson was a good player first stint but then had the attitude that was all wrong about Rangers in his second time.

Obviously this chap could have been handy on the investment side but if he had managed to get the club a few months ago who knows who would be in charge, I don't think the timing would have been right to even approach Warburton, so Im glad in that sense as what Warburton seems to be doing with the footballing side of things is invaluable.

Nothing new mentioned, just how he is going to try assemble a team capable of meeting targets of promotion then the top flight again and eventually champions league. I like his style, he answers very well without avoiding questions or being patronising, is just pure honest. He isn't promising miracles but knows what is expected. I really believe we have found the right man on a number of levels. Its one thing winning football matches but putting together an infrastructure from youth up is a different level. Looking forward to the season a lot under W&W.

Well I would say that is a Neanderthal type opinion as a 3rd strip can be any colour or design with the except of green or hoops for the obvious reasons. But everyone is entitled to an opinion. Our home colours should always remain but I quite like a different 3rd kit and the black one the other season was also to my liking. IIRC the purple kit was originally for European away games.

Strangely I certainly would. For a couple of season me and my mate used to always buy XXL even though Id be a medium, just seemed to be fashionable having huge tops. Just means they will all fit for life. I do need to dig out some of my old shirts though. Some are fast becoming classics

That is horrendous. Considering the Adidas Purple from 1994-95 was one of my favourites I was hoping for better here. Shocking design.

10 years ago that gap was huge about 40 v 15. The roman millions have played the part. But Arsenal have been rebuilding for the long term in that and in 10-15 years Id still bet that Arsenal will be clear of Chelsea. Its a good debate though. Id class Leeds as a sleeping giant and Sheff Wed. There is always the debate about how you define a big club / team: History / Stadia and Facilities / Fan Base / trophy count & on what level / turnover. I always thought of Rangers and Man Utd as the big 2 in the mid 90s. (Pretty sure we beat a full strength Man U side in Aug 1996.) Liverpool and Arsenal for sure in the top 3 in England. Rangers and Celtic still have big ticks in most categories but the TV money has moved the English clubs poles apart. Even Aberdeen and Dundee Utd were decent clubs in the 80s on a Euro level but neither were giants. Leeds are just a bad ran club but have huge potential due to fan base in the local area. Yhey have been in and out of the top flight in pretty much every decade but id class them as a big club.

I disagree, I like the thought of this signing. A experienced pro who will give 110% rather than be a passenger like Black or Law. Again he is coming from a level that is better than our league and will be an asset on and off the park for the young players. Didn't Derby's collapse near the end of the season went hand in hand with Eustace' injury.

Not only are we getting players who will be committed on the park, we aren't handing out silly lengthy contracts. Its good business by the club. Kiernan is in on a 2 year deal and Wilson a 3 year deal, not risky at all.

As much as Warburton likes and expects hard work Im sure he is also the rewarding type and wont discourage the players maybe sitting at Murray park playing FIFA against each other after a hard training session or out on the golf course together that is organised by the club. He will want good morale.

800k is a tad much for someone who can sign in January. He has talent and potential and I wouldn't mind seeing him join but Id rather the 800k go towards trying to get Macleod back.

Wilson is a good signing. Getting an experienced keeper wont be easy but Mcgregor isn't having a good time at Hull and would surely be a good fit for 2 years.

He does have a touch of old school about him but with dignity and class what Ive seen so far.
