  1. Funny how the fixture didn't come up for years then we play them home and away in friendlies last season and all of a sudden we get them in the group. It will be good to have competitive games against them but I have to say Im nowhere near excited like I was at Euro 96 and Euro 00 qualifier....is it age?
  2. Saw Arsenal last week at the Asia Trophy and they are miles and miles ahead of Everton and Stoke. Even their young strikers like Akpom and Iwobi outshone likes of the 27m Lukaku. If they keep injured free then I would say they this is their year to win the league. The addition of Cech adds everything at the back plus title winning experience. Man Utd impressive result against Barca 3-1
  3. 10 game ban for calling someone a cheat?? Christian Dailly was made a hero after his rant against Germany.
  4. Benteke to complete move to Liverpool. Silly money again. Villa could get relegated this season.
  5. Am I old fashioned that I wish players would wear bigger shirts? Welcome aboard chaps....Don't know anything about either player but in Warburton we trust. Compare their physique to Boyd, no comparison.
  6. I Personally think this is the best shake up the club has had since Holmes came in and Brought Souness in in 86 which led to a great set up for the next decade. (The Advocaat reign was a delight but cheque book funded) I think Warburton is going to lay a terrific foundation....its up to the players to carry it out. As said earlier, only a fool would expect a magic wand to be waved by now. Hard graft earns itself and that's what its going to take.
  7. So far the right noises are coming out of Murray Park and a lot of hard work is being put in. But we would be fools to expect result overnight and W&W are going to need at least 6 competitive games to get their way of playing across. The task handed to them (the mess left behind) was huge and they more than deserve time to get it right.
  8. Fabian Delph does a U-turn and signs for Man City for 8 Million. Now that seems like a good deal and about right money compared to the other inflated prices.
  9. Liverpool have triggered the 32.5m release clause for Benteke. Talk about another overpriced tag. 81.5m switching hands for Sterling and Benteke just shows how inflated football has got. Liverpool need to offload a few more now. Balotelli, Lambert and Borini need to be shifted on.
  10. I kind of get the impression it will be different this season however lets see. I can see law being one of the players who will benefit from the new schedule. If anything they all have to impress.
  11. Ive been a fan of 3-5-2 over the years but it always depends on the players you have. For me Man Utd are much better with 4-4-2 which of course can be 4-3-1-2 or 4-1-4-1 etc...(these additional numbers in formations is silly as there is only 3 areas of a pitch) They will be very dangerous with Di Maria and Depay down the wings (with Janazai and Young as back up) plus Herrera, Carrick, Blind and Fellaini wont be starters. It will be good to see a strong Man Utd again for some reason.
  12. Agreed Sterling at 49M is laughable. As you say its down to those paying the money out and not a value. If Sterling is 49M what would Hazard, Coutinho, Silva etc be. Sanchez was what 17m less than Sterling and id rather have a half fit Sanchez in my team. Sterling cant even cross a ball. id say Oxlade-Chamberlain is a better player and he isn't even a first team pick for Arsenal.

Aye sort that out I think Warburton will give all their chance to impress and make a claim for the shirt. I wouldn't be surprised to see Miller being used due to experience. I also think we will get a new face in before the first games. However isn't it great knowing McCulloch and Boyd wont be an option upfront? Kilmarnock have their work cut out. Wouldn't be surprised to see them do ok there just to prove a point to themselves.
  14. With Van Gaal you probably think he will go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 with Depay upfront. But Man Utd just need to be a 4-4-2 team, anything else just doesn't look right. They now have the players for a proper midfield and is their best options since Keane and Scholes. If they get a centre half I might have a punt on them winning the league.
  15. Van Ginkel (loan), Given and Glen Johnson all sign for Stoke. They have done some good business. Looking forwarded to seeing them this week - something I never thought id say.
  16. Disagree. You use the system to your advantage and if others want to put a small club mentality on it then so be it, that's their decision. But when you are in a rebuilding phase (3 years to late BTW) then I certainly don't look at it as being a small club thing.
  17. Don't get the Sterling one. Extremely over priced and QPR must be laughing at getting 9m of this amount. City need to get Pogba in else as it stands they look like the 4th best team. Chelsea linked with Pedro today, that would be a quality signing and make them favourites again.
  18. Eh no. The point is about loaning players. GS stated it was for small clubs. Overall its a ridiculous statement.
  19. Fantastic deals for Man Utd to get Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin. That just sets them level with the other big 3. Still think they need a centre half. ________________________De gea_______________________ Damion________Jones__________Smalling__________Rojo Di Maria_______Schwein_______Schneid_________Depay_ ________________________Mata___________________________ ______________________Rooney___________________________
  20. One step at a time. No.10 is probably gone. No.9 The mess is starting to get cleared up and we are in a far better position than 6 months ago. No.8 If anything we have the best manager in place to utilise this since MP was opened. No.7 Gough was the best captain in my lifetime and it will be difficult to get another near him. He was more than a captain, he was a Captains Captain. Weir was the last top one we had and its an interesting appointment that he has given his student Wilson the armband. No.6 Im looking forward to this one a lot. Its inevitable and TBH not going up via McCall last season may stead us better for when we do go up. One step back to take two forward. No.5 That's what the next 10 months is going to be all about. No.4 We need to get No.3 first but it will be an unreal feeling when that comes again (not if! but when) No.3 That's going to be an awfully big party day! Again its when and not if. Its not like we are going to do a Liverpool and not win it for more than quarter of a century, its probably only 1-2 seasons away after this one. No.2 That's probably the most far off one of the list but will happen. No.1 I would rather change this to 'beating Celtic regularly again'. I can see us beating them at Ibrox when are promoted, its all about dominating the fixture again and being rightly back on top.
  21. Garbage. Real Madrid had Hernandez on loan last season, cant remember too many people thinking they are a small club. Falcao to Man Utd - another small club and Chelsea this season. If you play the market right it does wonders. Arsene Wenger uses this system to know if a player is going to make it or not. Look at Alex Song at West Ham last season, he came from Barcelona and didn't sniff at where he was playing, he was outstanding and is now linked with both Man City and Chelsea for his performances.
  22. And we can hit out and they way they handled playing. Its good riddance to Black an obvious troublemaker and Daly just impersonated Kevin Kyle whenever I seen him play. As for Foster I know I will take pelters here but in the few times I watched him I thought he was always pretty decent - never a world beater - but didn't do much wrong.
  23. 20 years ago, wow. I remember camping in France at the time and couldn't believe we got him. During 95-96 season its difficult to say there was a better player in Europe and in Euro 96 was easily the best player. As Craig says its often those with flaws who have a bit of genius, a lot of people say if he went to Man Utd he would have been different but Im not so sure. Gazza won us 8IAR / Laudrup won us 9IAR (and probably 7) but as Andy Goram says losing Gazza in 1998 cost us 10IAR. A half fit Gazza would have made the difference that season.
  24. I think we were a selling club even if when we were in the CL 10 years ago. Unfortunately it comes down to players wanting to play for bigger bucks when claiming its for winning bigger trophies. Even 75% of the English Premier League are selling clubs. We made good sales profit out of Boumsong and Alan Hutton. I cant remember if we got anything for Charlie Adam.
  25. Warburton has got a rebuilding job on his hand but bringing in this type of potential is exactly what we need. If we got promoted last season I wonder if McCall would have been given the job and what state the footballing side of the club would have still been in.
