  1. Agree with that, having 2 natural bombing forward full backs is Rangers of old and I like it (Stevens / Robertson / Numan / Munro to name a few) and at this level I think we will get away with it no end. Its also still early days for the unit to gel, and Weir will mould them in. Id give it 6 games before they get start to look like a unit. Its 3 players who had never played together.
  2. City 3-0 Chelsea. I didnt see that one coming, I thought Mourinho would pull something out the hat. SBS gone a bit quiet. Chelsea look disjointed and I think its down to Mourinho, he doesn't seem happy (again). Their squad is not near big enough. They need 3 signings in the mould of Stones, Pogba and Reus. City look totally refreshed and hungry. Kompany and Toure were having world cup hangovers last season but after a resting summer they have returned to their best and look awesome. Still very early days but with Champions League coming up unless Chelsea sign players they wont make top 4 playing like they have in their opening 3 games (including Community Shield).
  3. Miller staying was a no brainer for me. He is a proper professional, still well capable of scoring at this level even if he was a bit part player. Im sure W&W will be looking after him in training the right way.
  4. Good point. Dundee Utd didn't sell him to Hibs for no reason and he was playing Cowdenbeath, Alloa and Livingston last season. Very good point.
  5. TBH I thought he was a bit silky but nothing special and would have turned out to be another Kevin Thomson who I never really rated. I think W&W have contacts for far better players.
  6. As mentioned before, spend the money on MacLeod coming back, that was my preference.
  7. No offence meant mate. The past is the past between their record though. In terms of Premier League Arsenal used to have a great record over Chelsea and now its swang over...doesn't mean to say one will do better than the other this season, the proof will be in the pudding. I thought Arsenal were arrogant on Sunday and west ham call their bluff, superb performance by them. Arsenal have looked super good all summer yet when the big kick off came they lost again. Still think Chelsea need Pogba to boss their midfield. If they got him they would win the CL.
  8. How good was Coutinho's goal for Liverpool!!
  9. Just an ignorant comment and they started well yesterday. 2 flukey goals, they will struggle to win this league unless they sign Pogba.
  10. Well Id say mixed. West Ham have to stay in the Premier League this season so going into the new stadium they have top flight football. We know what this Europa Cup can do to teams and Everton were in a relegation battle last season until they got knocked out so a lot of Hammers will be Happy they are out and don't have the Thursday Sunday games. A few called Talksport after the game and said its a good thing. A run in Europe is nice but until they are settled and have a squad capable of playing both they will wait. A new manager is in and trying to embed new players and a new style, that could take time and cost points.
  11. Make that West Ham Reserves. They only had Nolan and Jenkinson from the first team. Looks like they are putting their eggs into one basket and concentrating on the league only.
  12. Agree on all. Falcao didn't look like a player for Man Utd. Chelsea will have to wave a magic wand to get something out of him. Its a shame, prior to his injury he was the highest rated out of Atletico Madrids previous strikers which included Torres, Aguero and Costa. But I agree with Hazard he can be unplayable at times and if Hazard and Fabregas play well Chelsea win games. Wenger seems to like Monreal for some reason. He has improved but still wouldn't get into Chelsea or Citys team. I prefer Gibbs at LB. It would be good if Paulista comes good and starts a partnership with Koscielny. Cech adds so much to their defence but they still need a world class centre half. Chambers has to step up, he hasn't came on to justify a 16m price tag and Debuchy is a good squad player. Upfront they will score goals with Sanchez, Walcott, Giroud and Welbeck. Man Utds downfall will be defence. Jones and Smalling are the new O'Shea and Brown and nowhere near the new Vidic and Rio like they were bought for. But if they get Pedro in then their forward line is enough to score more than the opposition bar the other big 4. Pedro, Rooney and Depay with Mata behind them is pretty frightening.
  13. And I'll be en route to Cambodia, not quite so gutted when you go to this place...the 50p beers and girls are worth skipping the football for.
  14. Warburton has a bit of the Rock about him....it doesn't matter....
  15. Arsenal also have something to prove. They need to show that pre-season form can be carried into the league and be consistent. They also need to stay injury free for once. But they have the best balanced squad in the league - not necessarily the best players - but best balance. Yet here is Jack Wilshire injured again before a ball is kicked and out for 8 weeks. Id have sold him to City for 50 million. The season after a world cup is always disappointing but the one after tends to be better and I think it will be a ultra close league.
  16. Friday nights is a good idea for games, atmospheres should be much better than a Sunday. I remember being at a Friday night match in 1994 when McCoist scored his 300th goal for Rangers against Aberdeen and Ibrox was rocking. It probably helped cheap cider could be consumed in the streets then even for 15 year olds. I can see a comfortable home win and the new chaps will be overly impressed.
  17. I have always like Gordon as a keeper and wanted to sign him before we rehabilitated him. That's the worst thing about it, we did all the work and they scooped him. The days of mis management is over!
  18. Going on what the current squads are now I would fancy Arsenal to win this season but also have a sneaky for Man Utd. I think Chelsea could struggle upfront as Costa has injury problems, Falcao isn't near the same player and Remy wont win them the league. In defence they are a few numbers short and it will be a big ask for Terry to have another top season. City are going to be relying on Toure and Aguero again. Take them out the team and they are beatable. Silva is a class act but cant do it on his own. I expect Utd to sign a striker, City to sign 2 more big players and I cant see Jose going into a season without signing another defender at least. But I will go: Arsenal Chelsea Man Utd Man City Liverpool will be closer to 4th this season, I think they have bought well. Surprise Package - Stoke. Relegation, the 3 that came up for me. Watford - Far to many new signings to embed into a Championship team. Bournemouth - Will be a bit like Burnley last year, trying to play the game the right way but the lack of quality will see them go back down. Norwich - They don't score goals. Villa, Leicester, Sunderland, West Brom will all be bottom half teams. Palace, West Ham, Newcastle for mid table. Spurs, Everton, Southampton and Swansea to be around top 6 to 10 with Stoke.
  19. Auto promotion and play off spots. 1. Rangers 2. Hibernian 3. St Mirren 4. QotS (just pipping Falkirk)
  20. He can sign for us in 4 months time, such a short period of time. He just needs to keep his head down and try stay injury free. Playing for Hibs wont do him harm in the long term if he doesn't get a game. They are silly not taking the money when they are going to have a 3rd year in this division I liked what I briefly saw of Allan last season but would prefer a bid to get MacLeod back, wonder if Warb can pull some strings on that one.
  21. Still early days with only 2 competitive games been played for a group who hadn't previously played together. They will only get better especially with Mentor Weir.
  22. I watch quite a bit of the Championship and League 1 down south (helps with the weekend coupons) and saw Brentford come from the bottom of League 1 to 5th in the Championship. Unlike the likes of Leicester, Norwich and others who have resources to get back up the leagues when they go down Brentford are a small team in the shadows of the London giants and have always been in the lower tiers. There is some good managers down there like Warburton and Howe but Premier League clubs are too scared to take a risk. The jobs those 2 have done (and Alex Neil and Norwich) were fantastic and Im surprised a bigger club didn't take a punt on either especially if they had done proper Due Diligence. But their loss is our gain and I would certainly say we have pulled a big coup in getting Warburton for 3 or more years. He will be the making of Rangers and I think Rangers can be the making of him. I can certainly see him being the man to lead us back to the top flight title and CL.
  23. Shocking result for Ajax, I thought they were improving again. It will certainly put doubts into the future of Frank De Boer.
  24. As what the lads have said, Hearts or Kilmarnock at home would be sweet ties.
