  1. None of them deserved to stay on, they have totally failed this season by finished 3rd in the second tier, it would have to go down as our worst finishing position ever. However if I had to keep one on it would have probably been Foster and that is saying something. I thought he played well against Hibs and would have been a good squad player. What a challenge ahead now for the next manager.
  2. Talks held with Warburton. I am certainly coming around to him and think its a fresh approach. The David Weir factor is a good one and he will surely help with the defence problems.
  3. That's someone I hope we stay away from.
  4. It wasn't long before McInnes was linked, another ex player. He has done well for Aberdeen but another who didn't do great down south at Bristol City and Id say we should be aiming for better. Id probably take him over McCall but still isn't in my top 5 choices.
  5. If Steve McLaren doesn't go to Newcastle then we should have a punt on him.
  6. Alex McLeish also took Motherwell to 2nd place and we saw how bad his tenure ended. The best of the rest - whether that be 2nd or 3rd position - changes every season. Its a job well done to beat the rest but its also like a lucky dip and unless that club has been extraordinary than the manager shouldn't be considered for a position leading Rangers back to the top.
  7. Yup. Said that on another thread, id expect a minimum 14 team top flight in 12 months time with possibly no relegation next season from the SPFL. Who was the previous guy who ran SFL before the SPL takeover (merger - no laughing at the back)....if he had stuck to his guns the SFL profile and worth would have grown hugely. He already had the biggest trump card in Rangers and this past season the SFL would have had the Edinburgh clubs in there as well. They should have reconstructed the bottom 3 divisions when they had the chance. And Financially another season upcoming with Rangers and Hibs.
  8. Stuart those are strengths of a scout and a coach NOT A MANAGER. A manager has to apply tactics, take risks, pick formations and players that suit plus more and these are where you lack. Another wonderful player in his day but not a Rangers manager in a million years.
  9. Total clear out from tomorrow, no sympathy just get on with it. And bring in a fresh new plan which should have been done 3 years ago. Tomorrow is our new chance to build again and build properly this time. Really no idea who at this stage but I hope they don't give McCall a chance to stay and bring in his own players.
  10. He didn't appeal to me at the start but I am warming to him and weir. They took Brentford from league 1 to the championship play offs, that isn't easy at all. They wouldn't be my first choice but it would be an interesting appointment
  11. Not sure why but I'm feeling quite confident, I think we will win by 2 goals and can see it going to extra time
  12. Having looked at the players at the end of their contracts (excluding the loanees) there isn't one id keep on regardless of the division we are in. The number of players out of contract is a blessing and gives us a great chance to start building a new squad. Plenty of wages will be freed up. Obviously if we do the tricky task today and get promotion it becomes a tough job to get quality through the door. But if we are in the championship again a fresh manager and coaching team should come in and be given the opportunity to build a new team and squad for the long term. - Something that should have been done 3 years ago.
  13. I never mentioned he wanted the job but pretty sure he is available if he isn't working at the moment. Besides its just an opinion.
  14. Adam v Naismith in the first game. I think Charlie will get the better of him.
  15. Id imagine they have 1 or 2 names for the championship and again 1 or 2 for the Premiership. Unfortunately I think McCall is in line also regardless what league we are in.
  16. Jimmy Calderwood would have been a better appointment than McCall short term. He knows how to get a squad up for it and has spent a lot of time in Holland. He isn't a popular name but for a short term appointment id have taking him. Its not like Alex Ferguson or Klopp would have come in and done it.
  17. Once we got our goal on Thursday I certainly thought that could make all the difference. At 3-0 down I would have said it wouldn't happen. But if we go out and get a goal in the first half today then we are right in it. Going to have to find a good link to the game later as Im travelling today (hint hint)....I stupidly should have travelled tomorrow during a public holiday.
  18. They are certainly realistic and Im warming to them a bit. I can only see them getting a Championship job but there isn't to many going around. Derby look set to go for Paul Clement. If Leeds get things together off the park they might fancy them. Down one league the Sheff Utd job is available but Weir has already been there so they wont go for him again. Martin Jol is someone Ive wanted for years but there is no way we could get him in the Championship. Even in the top flight it would be a big ask.
  19. That's a lot of games, but its down to that Europa League which starts in about 2 weeks time! Crazy.
  20. It would have been worth a fiver. Arsenal blew Villa away. This team are clicking now bar a couple of poor results against Swansea and Sunderland which would have finished them in 2nd and really been a good season if they got that. But 3rd is league improvement against 2 high spenders above them and they retain the FA cup. If they could get Peter Cech in the summer plus Khedira or Schneiderlin then they should mount a title challenge. Chambers and Gabriel need to come good or they may need a centre half also. A lot of pundits saying they need a striker, if they play Walcott as a striker then he will get them 20 goals plus Giroud will get near 20 also. They just need to tighten things up at the back. I worry for Sanchez next season, he has just played a full season after the World cup and now has the copa America, he will be knackered. Ive bought tickets to the Asia Trophy - Arsenal, Everton, Stoke and Singapore...pity Sanchez wont make it as he would be worth the entry fee alone.
  21. There is not training well and there is not being fit enough to train....2 different things. Le Tiss was fit and a quick runner.
  22. Taking a second look at Dalys photo, is that Kris Boyd running a mile behind everyone playing catch up and looking out of breath.
  23. It wouldn't surprise me to see Daly go back to Dundee Utd and do a half decent job there like he did previously. Its just a common theme that so many players come to Rangers and do badly.
  24. An interesting one is Aston Villa and Falkirk both last won the FA and SFA Cups in 1957 and both are in todays finals....if I could get a bet I would do a cup double on those two just for that.
  25. Id have a punt at Sir Alex myself
