He looks a lot harder than Russ Abbott though. But he does speak the same as Butcher.

Anyone who was in doubt about him surely has to have had their thoughts changed. His days working from 5am to 9pm in the City dealing in Multi million deals for his job will easily prepare him for the joke of a media there. He will fully concentrate on the football side. What an absolute coup getting this team, a real foundation will be put in place now, a perfect piece of the jigsaw has been placed with this duo.

New management team: Mark Warburton and David Weir

Was going to say the same. PLG was intriguing at the time but didn't exactly excite. After the last 3 years then this appointment does excite, especially after reading and hearing a bit about him. Its about time we got back up on the horse and rallied forward. -

They will all be in panic mode as they know this guy will take Rangers back. I felt with the way things were going if we got promoted we would need a settling in period and struggle in the top flight for a year. I now think we will win the Championship this season comfortably and ready to be top 2 the season after. -

Amazing the way they swing things. Before the appointment it was McLeish, McInnes, McCall and Davies the papers listed. And I don't think he had to fight off McCall and Cathro at all. McCall was never in the running and Cathro probably hasn't been spoken to. -

Unbelievable and just shows you how the media can manipulate lies (that doesn't just go for football BTW). The only way he wasn't our first choice is probably because he may have been out of our reach! I certainly think he is thick skinned and will shrug this nonsense off. I hope he doesn't give them an inch and puts them in their place from the first question. He doesn't need to get them on side at all. All he needs to do is get Rangers playing good winning football. Pretty sure the board and Weir will make him aware that the media can be poisonous. -

Daily Express: An entire team! Got to be happy with that. -

McCall only has himself to blame. he got a chance to stamp his authority and it didn't work. With Hindsight not getting promoted could be a good thing long term as going up with McCall could have set us back 3 years as he would have probably got the job and I wouldn't expect us to be anything more than a mid table team under him. -
Wilson was one of the 3 or 4 players who elevated their game next to Mentor Weir and as such got a move to Liverpool. I guess being coached by him would be the next best thing. If he was along side McGregor next season with Weir coaching then it sits better than the pairing of McCulloch and Mohsni does it!

Delighted by the choice of appointment. He was defo my first preference since it was known was leaving Brentford. It feels like a total breath of fresh air and a new start. I get the feeling this upcoming season will give us winning mentality and momentum going into the top flight. I expect us to be a different animal this year, no more shocking efforts and 0-0's v the likes of Alloa. I cant wait to see the type of football and tactics deployed and the players coming in will be very interesting. -

Newcastle, Sunderland, Derby, Leeds and Sheff Wed have maybe made a blunder not taking this guy! Brentford are the worst for letting him go. Their loss will be our gain. -

As I mentioned earlier in the thread there wont be any PLG revolt players in the squad, McCulloch and Boyd were the last of that type and both are off the books. PLG had no chance against Ferguson and Co at the time, they believed in part time hours. Warburton would be coming into a trimmed squad and adding his own players which would be of much relief to me. It senses a team that want to play for him. -

But that's where we are so we cant feel sorry for ourselves. Pulling a manager who has just done amazing achievement down south at a level higher than we are at just now is more than good enough. Appointing one of the other options would never bring us back to where we belong. Warburton has all the ideas and attributes to put us back on top of the SPFL. His CV and talking says that. Finally we may see 11 players who are actually fit. They might be able to string some good passing together. We might see a few youngsters get a run in the team. - Warburton does all this in his teams. In management terms he is still very young. he has learned by doing the hard work all self funded by going around some of Europes biggest clubs at seminars and coaching, he then got the Brentford gig and took a tiny club like that up through the 3rd tier and nearly into the Premier league in a short time. That Championship division is a mammoth league with some huge clubs in it. Only Bournemouth have done a bigger task than Brentford last season IMO. -

Totally agree. Coaching role is the best for Cathro, Id have my doubts about him being a No.1 if he has only been a young coach so far. Im all for the idea of someone outside Scottish football (Warburton) coming in but having Weir along side him gives him enough knowledge about the club and expectations he needs. In reverse I always said McCoist's downfall could have been not bringing in a outside experienced No.2 Cathro seems like a proper coach, you don't get to Valencia at 28 being poor however his previous to that is Dundee Utd so that doesn't exactly shoot him up to a No.1 level. It seems he would be ideal on the training ground compared to a few months ago when it was Ally, Durrant and Kenny. Bit of a dream line up this on all levels considering where we are, and the fact we not going to attract world class managers and coaches: Warburton - Manager Weir - assistant Manager Cathro - Head / youth Coach And 2 out of 3 would also be great news. -
Away to Georgia next becomes absolutely a must win cup final. Ireland are playing Gibraltar next so that's them on 12 points and if Scotland don't win in Georgia then Ireland would be either level or above us. Poland play Germany next so something has to give there meaning 3 points in Tbilisi would put the top 2 finish in our own hands as we have Germany and Poland at home after that. To get a top 2 finish we need: Georgia away 3 pts Germany home 1 pts / possibly can afford a defeat depending on other results. Poland home 3 pts Gibraltar away 3 pts.
-
Norn Ire still have Hungary at home so its well in their hands to finish top 2. Scotland may even need a bit of a help from NI as I think Im right in saying Scotland and Hungary are currently the best placed 3rd teams (the best gets auto qualification), but if results are removed from the bottom team then Hungary currently would be the best as they would only have 1 point deducted from a draw with Greece where as Scotland have 3 deducted from a win against Gibraltar.
-
Hungary won in Finland to keep up with these two. NI. need to do a Wales here.
-
Their goal should have been easily spotted as offside. A good result but we need to get something probably a win in Georgia. I'll take that though as I had a decent bet on a draw.
-
It amazing what a good bright manager does for the country anyway. I feel like Im much more behind the team compared to when Levein was in charge. It is a toss of a coin in this game, as you say Ireland could turn us over with O Neill and Keane getting them right up for it, but I'll have a few squid on a 0-0. I think Wales are practically there with that win last night. To lose a 5 point lead of Israel and Cyprus with 4 games to play would be incredible. If Norn Ireland get something from the Romania game today and Finland get something off Hungary then they have a foot in France. England are already there so its is looking like Scotland have the trickiest task of making it 4 home nations in France. On the international topic I don't think it will be long before top 8 seeds like Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, England, Belgium and Portugal don't even have to qualify for the Euros. They will automatically get there then it will be up to the rest to qualify. For me money and seedings has ruined the game, they should just pick out from all names in a hat and if Germany draw Spain in qualifying then so be it, it will make the international games more interesting during qualifying rather than watching a snooze fest of England v Slovenia or Italy v Malta. If Man Utd draw Liverpool in the FA cup 3rd round its the tie of the round and all eyes are on it so international should be the same.
-
Two average teams going bang at it but I will probably watch it. international week isn't so bad when the domestic season is over. I think qualifying campaigns should actually be lumped together more rather than spaced out over 2 years. You could play 3-4 games in a 2-3 week period, it might bring more interest and make the domestic season less start / stop. Can see it being a draw in this game which Id probably take. Beating Poland and Georgia is what Scotland need to do and then top 3 would be pretty much on the cards. Wales got a hoofing result against Belgium last night and Norn Ireland are in pole position to go through also. Would be good to see the 4 home nations all at France next summer. Not sure why the media keep making out all 5 could progress, Ireland is nearby but so is France close to Britain.

The picture in the OP is from the pre-season friendly after he scored at the Broomloan End. Against Celtic IIRC he did it at Parkhead while warming up as a sub in a midweek game for a brief second that was barely caught. Obviously someone at the club put that idea into Gazza's head to do it as he had no clue what it was even all about when he first signed. That's the person who should be ashamed, egging on someone like that.

Before the McCall appointment I mentioned it would have been a masterstroke to get Harry in to rally the troops. Harry needs an open chequebook to make successes sometimes but he also is good at the motivation and good football approach.

If and a big if, we missed out on Warburton and was going down the route of a 'Mac' then McInnes would have been the one id have gone with ahead of McCall and Mcleish. But he has signed on with Aberdeen so that is good news as I don't think he has what it takes to bring us back to the top. Its still scary that McCall and McLeish are being linked along with Davies....any of that 3 would be a disastrous appointment. And until Warburton or Cathro or someone else is appointed Im worrying. TBH I don't know anything of Cathro other than he is at Valencia. Warburton is still my top candidate by a country mile. Everything about the guy is a fresh approach which is what we need as the No.1. Weir next to him is a master stroke. Having an ex player is one thing but having a proper professional ex player ticks the boxes rather than someone from the old school jobs for boys club which installs the 'fun culture' at the club. With McCulloch and Boyd off the books now also that era should be out the window. -
I get the off the field stuff but on the park we should have also been better, I guess that's down to Allys mismanagement.

Court action: Injunction granted and RFC to pay £20K costs

Who sets the price of shirts in our club shops? If its the club then couldn't we put them on sale for a quid each and then buy them so the club don't have to fork out for unsold and the sales price is the cost of a cup of tea. Its not all stock of shirts but still a saving to the club in a way.
