  1. The problem with Man Utd is Van Gaal didn't bring in his own No.2 and took Giggs on for a popularity vote and the two clearly don't agree on how to play the game. Man U should just give the gig to Giggs (pardon the pun) as he knows how Man U want to play. He needs to bring in Rene Meulessteen and Mike Phelen. Guardiola was inexperienced when he took over at Barca so this "Giggs hasn't got experience" argument is not valid for me. Mourinho is desperate for the Old Trafford job but it will be Moyes & Van Gaal take 3. They wouldn't lose much but it would be 1-0 every week not playing attacking football. The Man U fans are split, they want to stop city and he will probably run them close but I think Giggs could also.
  2. The result obviously doesn't resemble the performance and going into the top flight next season may games will be like this and its up to MW to find another way of braking stubborn SPL defences down which I am sure he will. I think with a couple of clever additions in the summer including Windass then we will be a stronger side.
  3. Was going to say Jardel also but someone beat me to it. He was sitting in the stands one game I was at then we never saw him again. It would have been good to seen how Seb Rozental did had he not got injured. I would have like Eion Jess from Aberdeen when he was at his peak, he could play on his day. And I wanted Don Hutchison to sign at one stage when it was close.
  4. Id be all for it for goal decisions only which include offsides and goal line technology. The other 2 (penalties and red cards) can sometimes fall into an opinion however can still be included. I wouldn't stretch it to all 4 however they are all arguably good reasons for video ref as these decisions can make a difference in the outcome of a match result and the game doesn't have to stop at all. Red cards - This is the dodgy one that could perhaps only be done for off the ball incidents where the ref cant see it as his back is turned. Penalty decisions - If the ref hasn't given it then the game doesn't stop anyway but if he has missed it a quick shout in the ear means he can give it. If he has given a pen as a wrong decision that's where it gets tricky. Off side decisions for goals awarded wrongly - 100% for this as the game has stopped anyway for a goal but if it was awarded wrongly then video ref can call it and its no different to a restart free kick for the defensive side. Off side decisions for offside decision wrongly flagged - This one cant be introduced as how would you restart play and nobody knows if the player would have scored. Goal-line decisions - Absolutely for this. If the ball has crossed the line and not given then a quick shout in the refs ear means he rightly awards a goal. If the ref has awarded a goal that hasn't crossed the line then its again tricky to restart play as if play wasn't stopped the attacking side could still have scored seconds later or the defence could have cleared it - the only restart could be a bounce up in the 6 yard box.
  5. Everton have also got them in the cup tomorrow so a decent gate plus TV money, I hope they get a draw to take it back to Goodison.
  6. No idea how Man Utd haven't sacked him yet, its either pride or a big pay off. They should just give it to Giggs.
  7. RE booing it doesn't sit right with me however how does a paying fan express their frustrations? I used to have a lot of guys booing Craig Moore behind me but that was Walter Smiths fault for playing him midfield in his first spell rather than his true position of centre half - which he went on to become a fine one.
  8. On the reverse side it will be interesting if the Spanish clubs started to fairly share the finances there. Barca and Real take home about 90% of money distributed which means the others cant compete, however Valencia and Atletico M have done reasonably well.
  9. A current championship side into the premier league - and when finances are going to hit top tv dollar next season..they dont need us anyway. this should be moved to the lounge as laughter chat. We have our own house to re-build
  10. I never like to say one or the other from our own strikers...its disrepectful to their generation. They played in different times. i do however like to debate who is better..... Would i have taken Larsson over Boyd - yes all day long. Would i have taken Sutton and Hartson over Prso and Novo, not a chance. Would I have taken McAvennie over Hateley - eh no thanks, big mark all day long.

  12. If this was realistic and there was any credibility to it then the plan should be to contain relegation and have 1 down from the top flight and 3 up from the Championship, with the 4th place side in tier 2 still getting a play off with the 11th placed side in top flight. Anything else is nothing short of abusing integrity and I would urge the likes of QotS and Falkirk to go to the nearest governing body.
  13. Who would you put in charge though? A new man comes in and changes the style of play could mean going back a step and affect qualification next time around. Id stick with Strachan but would like to see him bring in Big Eck as his number two.
  14. Always loved Archie McPherson, he should be inducted into Scottish hall of fame, awesome memories from him. Its quite surreal watching this now and thinking of Rangers in the 3rd tier, but we had to get our own ship in order which took 3 years. With W&W we are a different animal.
  15. Overall there has been improvement. If it was club football that would be assessed and taking into consideration. Hands down he has made improvements therefore should continue. McLeish, Souness, Dalglish....anyone think they would do any better? Only Alex Ferguson would get another 10-20% out these players but he isn't going to take it as he is retired.
  16. If you look at the teams 4th in each group none of them get a tally of Scotlands points. It was down to one game - away to Georgia that cost us plus Ireland taking a freak 4 pts off Germany. He should 100% stay in the job but bring in a better assistant. For the first campaign in 20 years the manager should stay on.
  17. Yeah der, for me Millers work rate goes without saying and embarrassed imposters like Boyd before him. I was a Miller fan all day long (although bottled beer Miller is rank), always turned up and scored in big games. Waghorn is easy a level or two above your Boyds and Kyles by a country mile.
  18. Whats the line ups??? Possible gear shift to Footie chat??
  19. You only have to look at Ibrox and how we are benefitting from a total overhaul. Unfortunately Regan and Doncaster enjoy being incompetent and couldn't dream of being a winner like Warburton.
  20. I wonder what the odds are on Wales screwing things up again. Bosnia can still make the play offs if they win and Israel lose so they have something to play for. Tricky place to go. But Andorra at home, not winning that would be like Rangers result at Stirling under Ally.
  21. Yeah an overhaul from top to bottom. Revamp of the league system, a move to summer football (Norway are on the way up and a win away from qualifying, it doesn't do Russia any harm), mass investment in youth), a change in those running the game who are nothing short of baboons. If that doesn't happen we wont qualify for another 10 years and if we do it will be down to the luck of the draw. You see teams like Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia & Hez who have all just had their own national sides for 2 decades, they produce good sides and have low populations. Its a social thing in Scotland. Its possible a British thing as England underachieve all the time, and Wales are only qualifying due to Bale who is world class.
  22. Its a very common theme in football that teams can only produce some types of applications in certain games. Just look at Arsenal, awful in the CL then versus Man Utd they all put in a shift and they were unplayable at times. They cant do it every week but 7 or 8 games out of 10 should be at full pelt not the opposite.
  23. I think the type of striker who would absolutely thrive off this system would be a Kenny Miller of 5-6 years ago. Pacey, gets in behind and is a decent level. TBH ive not seen enough of Waghorn yet to know what to expect in the top flight, but he is doing everything right at the moment. Double figures at a new club in the first 2 months of a season - you cant ask for more and Warburton will only improve him.
  24. Dalglish "Klopp doesn't seem like a man who is in love with themselves". - Big dig at Rodgers. Not the first time ive heard this but quite surprising as he doesn't come across like that. Anyway Dalglish didn't exactly excel himself in the role a few years ago. Finally I think Liverpool will be back on the map with Klopp. I think its an outstanding scoop for them and given the funds he will bring in the quality they need. I thought it would be a while before we seen Liverpool win the league again but under Klopp they will have a great chance next season although I hope they don't. Big Sam takes the reins at Sunderland, probably the toughest job in the Premier League. Villa and Newcastle are tough but Sunderland have been shocking for years. But looking at what Palace and Leicester have achieved anything is possible. There next match is away to West Brom then at home to Newcastle, what a start. He should be aiming for 4 pts.
  25. Yup, time for a 100% clear out and a new set of faces from top to bottom. Ive never trusted Platini. Im all for ex players to be involved in football organisations. You need the business heads in their as well for running things but seems people got above themselves here. I like the Ginola link, he seems genuine and purely in it for the interest of the game. Platini is just mad, and having the Euro 2020 championship spread over the continent is a crazy idea. Tournaments are all about the host country.
