  1. Agree - and they wonder why the UEFA cup and Cup Winners Cup died. Had the runners up in the domestic leagues went straight into the UEFA cup you would still have the massive games of Real Madrid v Arsenal. The Europa league has ruined European football for teams not in the CL. The amount of teams is laughable. They should do something with that, but the preference would be to bring the Cup winners Cup back and have 3 tournaments again. They should also move the Europa to Wednesday nights and the CL could be Tues and Thurs. Then nobody would complain. The teams playing in the CL mostly play on a Sunday domestically anyway for TV rights in England and in Spain / Italy they mostly play on Sunday anyway so a Thursday night game wouldn't make much changes and have the affects it does on the likes of Southampton, Spurs etc who just cant adapt to Thurs / Sun.
  2. Much needed win for Everton, Arsenal need to respond again. Leicester still in relegation fight.
  3. Monaco do have a chance but Man City seem to be more better prepared for Europe this season so I think they will go through. I'll be backing Sevilla all day long against Leicester.
  4. That is inhumane if true. The first thing anyone would do is re-write the rule.
  5. If they had Reina and Carragher now they would have a few more points. That seems to be all they are lacking. Arsenal supposed to be going for Draxler in January as he has fell out with Bremen. Exactly what Arsenal need - a natural winger. Iwobi is doing well but Draxler is class.
  6. The last 8 should throw up some tasty ties if the favourites all go through. Sevilla Barcelona Atletico Madrid Juventus Bayern / Arsenal Dortmund Real Madrid Man City
  7. Seems Halliday has cover. For me the area we are light is full back. Its playing on the edge with all 3 of our full backs playing at the same time. Id say that's the area we need to sign in January. We don't need a Roberto Carlos but someone who can cover.
  8. Judge him at the end of the season as to whether he gets another year but for me if he is still fit then he is a no brainer to keep on.
  9. Agree with JFK, I was expecting Rossiter to walk into that position anyway.
  10. Just read the report, Pep played a back 3 of Zabaleta, Stones and Sagna. That's 2 rights backs and a centre half who has played in a back 4 for a few years. I know Sagna filled in a centre half a few times for Arsenal but he is a full back. Then after going 2-0 down he puts a left back in Kolarov into the centre. If he does this against Arsenal next weekend then Sanchez will rip them apart.
  11. I didn't see any of the game but you need a commanding keeper and I don't think Citys defence have confidence in him, that said their defence is poor also. A Good challenge for Pep to sort this out, defending is easier in the continent with a slower paced game but you don't get time at the back in the 100mph premier league
  12. Pete - good shout in the OP with Tav in midfield. The only possible issue with that is we are playing all of our 3 full backs and if one of them picks up an injury or suspension we are down to the bare bones. Can someone confirm if we played 4-1-4-1? But 4 wins out of 5 has given us some momentum now to keep widening the gap between third. Two good wins against our nearest rivals in the league, and its a must to continue this now and show these two wins weren't just about revenge.
  13. 3 out of 6. High scoring day. Man City are in trouble at the back, Pep looking silly now for bringing in Bravo for Hart. I wouldn't say Hart is Englands No.1 as he has a mistake in him every so often but he is miles better than Bravo. If Man Utd don't win today they will be so far off the top. They have only won 1 game in 8 and that was away to Swansea. No other wins since September.
  14. For those who don't know Christine can this be explained? What birthday number is it??
  15. Considering I got 8/10 results last week, here I go again. Not that I will see anything this weekend being in outback China. Watford 1-1 Everton Arsenal 2-0 Stoke Burnley 1-1 Bournemouth Hull 2-2 Palace Swansea 1-0 Sunderland Leicester 0-3 Man City Sunday Chelsea 3-1 West Brom Man Utd 1-1 Tottenham Southampton 2-1 Middlesboro Liverpool 4-0 West Ham (Don't like to say it but its almost a banker)
  16. Does school count? I pretty much wore Rangers entire daily.
  17. The day he gets out of Leeds with proper owners see's the days Leeds return to the top flight.
  18. Ruben Micael would be an interesting one!
  19. If such Atlantic league ever came about then I can imagine UEFA would put rules in place so the winners don't qualify for the CL. Therefore the clubs at this meeting would have to work out what is more beneficial, a weekly competitive league or staying put and hoping for qualification with the likes of Barca, Munich etc. It would really come down to what nations are involved, if the likes of the Dutch and Portuguese clubs could be swayed then it could only leave the CL league having the big boys from England, Germany, Spain and Italy along with champions from the likes of Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. That would see a huge gap in the CL group stages meaning UEFA would likely have to throw out the seedings rule and the rule that you cant play a team from the same FA.
  20. Make the top flight 16 or 18 teams and another 4 or 6 clubs will get more TV exposure.
  21. Great comeback and win for Bournemouth. Pundits were slamming the Swansea 5-4 Palace game as a poor standard of defending - yet I thought its brilliant entertainment as is 4-3 Bournemouth. Wonderful weekend results for Chelsea and Arsenal with a busy December schedule. Arsenal away to Man City in 2 weeks is massive. Annoyed I didn't get to the bookies in time to back 1-1 at Goodison. But that's Man Utd 13 points behind the leaders. A turnaround is always possible but Chelsea would need to have some blip.
  22. Sanchez upfront is becoming a bit like Suarez. He could be even better, Arsenal need to give him a new contract now.
  23. Remembering Dyer and Bowyer at Newcastle. Good win for Sheff Wed, ive always had a soft spot for them and hope they go up this season. Talk about a sleeping giant, they potentially have everything to be a top 8 club in England. They can get 40000 every week. The Championship is some league, it should be renamed and be Premier League 2 to give it some cash injection, its more competitive than the top flight. Leeds doing well which is also good to see, Swansea were silly to get rid of Monk. Its Villa first defeat for Steve Bruce but I still fancy them to get into the play offs. Newcastle 2 defeats in a row keeps it open at the top.
  24. Wonder if Neilson wanted away because Levein was interfering. Its one thing being ambitious to go down south but the 3rd tier isn't a step up IMO considering he probably could get European football with Hearts.
  25. Real nick a point in the last minute. Barca not clicking at the moment, 3 draws in a row. Still think they will win the league.
