  1. I think Hegarty has looked better than Perry since he's came into the team. Hopefully he can develop with an experienced older head beside him. When hegarty and Cribari played against Inverness it was like they had never trained together never mind played together.
  2. McCulloch and Hegarty in centre of defence for the foreseeable future.
  3. I would be in favour of us having a team in the lower divisions. It gives our young players the chance to play competitive games rather than reserve games. Not sure about a 16-team top league. Would want more than 30 games per season. A 18 team top flight would be better. At least the SFL are actually trying to work on something rather than the SPl sitting on their hands and doing nothing on problems that they, and they alone, have caused.
  4. Longmuir has more common sense than Regan and Doncaster combined. The SFL are now holding a lot of cards with the SPL's financial position getting worst by the week it seems.
  5. Absolutely terrific news. Welcome back Walter.
  6. It was a great result for them but I'm not worried about them on the park I'm more worried about us playing Peterhead tomorrow. I am slightly concerned in two areas that the Manky Mob are doing better than us; commercial development and youth development. I think the new regime have began to address the commercial side of it which is good to see. We have to be a company that is able to turn a profit or at least break even every year with or without Champions League money. In terms of youth development I am alarmed at how far we have fallen behind them. They seem to have a excellent programme wherby their promising players are training at their training base, then going school and returning to Lennoxtown to do homework and train some more. It's how many continental clubs do it and it's something we should really be looking at. Developing our own players is the only way a club like ours will really be able to compete on the European stage.
  7. I'm not sure about summer football but if it was me I'd start the season in July. If nothing else it should help teams do better in Europe plus there's no better feeling than goin to the game in shorts and t-shirts rather than gloves and a tammy. I'd have a break from mid-December to mid-January as well. I wouldn't be in favour of summer football from say March to November for the simple reason that every major European league runs from the traditional August to May time plus the World Cup and Euros are on over the summer and I wouldn't want our season ruined if we had say 6 or 7 players away on international duty for 3 or 4 weeks. A longer winter break definitely has to happen. If the Bundesliga can do it why can't Scotland?
  8. I'd have a top league of 14 teams. I don't think we have enough quality in Scotland to have more teams than that. Two teams would be relegated. Would have a second league of 16 with the winner being automatically promoted with the 2nd to 5th place teams fighting it out in the play-offs. Below that the league should be regionalised. it doesn't make financial sense for the likes of Elgin and Peterhead to be travelling down to the likes of Berwick and Annan and vice-versa.
  9. Good draw for us and a good draw for Elgin as well.
  10. Mckay has all the tools to become a top player. I think he might need to work on his strength levels but when he gets the ball you get the feeling that something is going to happen.
  11. Excellent. It's always great to welcome the Forces to Ibrox.
  12. A few of the guys I sit with at Ibrox were discussing this at Ibrox on Sat so thought I would throw it open. A couple were saying that Jig should play at centre half instead of Cribari. One of the reasons was to help guide Ross Perry who IMO is a decent enough defender but could really benefit from having a steadying influence alongside him and talking him through the game. McCulloch's could be taken upfront by Andrew Little who has already proved this season he can score goals at Division Three level. I think Little would be much better served playing up top rather than wide on the right. Wouldn't mind seeing him supported by a quick, fast-paced three such as Templeton, Shiels and McKay. What's your thoughts?
  13. We need fresh ideas and if we are wanting to change the whole philosophy of the club we need someone who has experience of working with younger players. Not sure what type of candidate would take it though. Would either be a 2nd rate Scottish manager or someone who has an emotional attachment to the club.
  14. If lumping the ball up the park needlessly instead of looking for a pass is a philosophy then I suppose we do.
  15. Murray and Lloyds have a lot to answer for. The sooner there is a public inquiry into why one of Scotland's biggest institutions was allowed to get into this mess the better.
  16. It's not the most important thing in the world but in my opinion the Rangers manager should always wear a suit - in fact the players should always wear a suit going to the games as well. The highest standards of dress and behaviour should come with being a Rangers player. Its one of the many things that set us apart from every other football club.
  17. What an absolute embarrasment of a blog.
  18. Duff & Phelps should be going to the creditors for a start. The irony is that D&P are suing Whyte's lawyers for £25 million when a partner in their own firm should be in the dock alongside him. I've said before and I'll say it again there should be a public inquiry into the sale of the oldco in May 2011 until when Charles Green took over. If this was down south and say Man Utd were in the state we were in the MPs in the Commons would have people in front of a Select Committee within a matter of weeks.
  19. Only stat that matters is that both teams lost in the Camp Nou.
  20. Our whole youth set-up needs to be changed. I hate to say it but Celtic are well ahead of us in terms of that. They have adopted the model most other European teams use by getting the kids in before and after school to maximise their hours of playing the game and they are already seeing the results. They have got something like 10 players in the Scotland under-16 squad to our 1 or 2. Granted that doesn't mean they will go onto to be better players because of a number of factors but it certainly gives you an indicator of where we are. IMO our youth system has went back considerably since Sinclair took charge of it.
  21. Read the whole piece and it's something we need to seriously be looking at. It's the only way forward bigger clubs in smaller leagues will be able to compete in the highest level in Europe. The sooner everyone at the club realises that and puts in a proper scouting network in place the better. We have three years to get it right - lets make sure its right before we get back to playing football in Europe.
  22. It was the same story for the entire 2008 Champions League/UEFA Cup campaign. We didn't have any arrests during that entire campaign apart from the well-documented problems in Manchester.
  23. Hardly surprising to be honest. I actually feel sorry for some of the players at diddy clubs who are not on a lot of money and will lose their jobs because of their chairmen's incompetence and their fans hatred for Rangers.
  24. I'm surprised Craig Whyte is even walking or breathing after what he did to our club; I'm also surprised that the BBC wish Whyte to be taken seriously given their previous investigations. One thing is for sure though; IF and it's a big if - but if Green is anyway connected to Whyte then I will not be investing my £500 into the club.
  25. It's a great idea and fingers crossed it happens. Would be great also to combine the stadium tour with the museum and Founders Trail.
