  1. The guy was getting thousands a week???? Thank **** for tommy
  2. Welcome aboard Bob. Be nice when writing our history that some 'iffy' bits were presented with a little more clarification. i.e. this part: Vale of Leven remained in a sulk and refused the invitation! Rangers were invited as Scottish Cup Finalists and played in the first Glasgow Charity Cup Final in front of 10,000 spectators, and promptly lost 4-0. It didn't take long, however, for the clubs first silverware to be heading to the trophy cabinet in the Kinning Park Ground. The same competition in the 1878/79 Season saw Rangers defeat Third Lanark 4-1 in the semi- final, and then Vale of Leven 2-1 in the final at the first Hampden Park, on 20th May, 1879. a) If Vale of Leven were in a huff explain why. b) Why did sulky Vale of Leven decide to take part two years later? Need to sort out these wee important events with fact, make's the whole history thing have some doubt hovering all over it. Romantic stuff, but has a 'made up' feel about it at times. Just my opinion.
  3. Following the 'Gers has it's ups and downs for sure...some players make us go others make us express some may even shove us a little to Sandaza has pushed the boat out with If he never wears the Royal Blue again I'll be
  4. I've seen some fantastic centre forwards in blue in my time, seen some bad ones too - but Sandaza has disgraced us to which he deserves his suspension and inevitable expulsion from the club. Seen some on here (dB) saying he has put an effort in recently...that's rubbish, he's been crap all season.
  5. No more goals in 2nd half...2-0 FT.....Nikica Jelavic was an unused substitute.
  6. HT 2-0 only one team in it with a baying partisan full house backing them
  7. 37 minutes Serbian defender Aleksandar Kolarov booked for foul (misses game against Scotland on Tuesday) Srna takes free kick - Olic scores 2-0
  8. Stadium erupts on 23rd minute Mandzukic 1-0 Croatia - error by the Serb defence The atmosphere at the game is incredible
  9. Those particular medals will be worth more than any other in years to come...but what's that got to do with it. We have 5 proud stars on top of the crest already - how 'bout a wee miniature one to add under the crest? Alright, alright, I know.
  10. It's easy to forget this is a game of football. Already many in both countries have. One of the most explosive encounters football has ever seen will take place tonight, this is the first meeting of these nations since the bloody civil war of the 90s Formerly close-knit families were destroyed, tens of thousands of people were killed and entire cities razed to the ground. 3000 armed police, 1000 soldiers and a similar number of security officers will be employed inside the ground. Serbian supporters have been banned from travelling to the match, extra security around the ground and on the border between the countries Authorities have threatened any Serb who makes the trip with a month in prison. Scotland's Group A rivals are fighting it out for a place at the World Cup in Brazil, but it is almost a sideshow. Police have warned Croatian fans that they could halt the match if they resort to anti-Serbian chants. Europe's football governing body will closely monitor the game for any possible trouble. UEFA have twice in two years warned Croatian and Serbian officials that it could ban their teams from international competition if there are any more acts of violence or racial chanting by hooligans. Croatian coach Igor Stimac said: "We will not try to provoke anyone, and let the best team win. Support us with your love for us and not with your hatred for the opponent (Someone should educate the tims in this) We are feeling tensions, but only because of the importance of the game. This is a football match and not a war" Infamous Turkish referee the strict Cuneyt Cakir who sent off Nani in Manchester Utd's CL match against Real Madrid will have the unenviable job of trying to keep both sets of players under control. The game kicks off at 17.00 (that's 5pm to those with no idea what a 24 hour clock is )
  11. Fixed that for you mate.
  12. Sandaza must go.
  13. ...to use mighty Stranraer as a reason to fast track Rangers ahead of pish teams is arrogant and unhelpful...."no one likes us we don't care" springs to mind.
  14. Green and Ally have taken the stance of 'We should be fast tracked into the 2nd tier' instead of questioning the merits of changing the goalposts three quarters way through a season. They are banging on about where we want to be rather than pointing out the illegality of a league reconstruction at this time. The whole scenario has evolved because of RFC. Seems we have a couple of muppets firing blanks in our name. The rest of Scottish football is running down dead end alleys trying to see how they can save the game and Rangers are looking to take advantage. F**kin' nightmare.
  15. We need a complete new defence, we have an exciting attacking full back in Wallace and that's it.
  16. Ha! Just wait 'til you see the reaction after Saturdays game....more of the same on tap 'Ally must go' and we are positively shite getting the full works - bears with sore heads and the SFA, SPL, & Sandaza getting a proper shagging, and anybody else who dares cross us. Ohhh...for the international break.
  17. They moved from the 3rd tier to the 2nd tier...we are going from the bottom tier to the....well, bottom tier. Unfair.
  18. Ally McCoist has repeated his call for Rangers to be accelerated through the Scottish league setup, saying it could be to the "benefit" of financially-stricken clubs. The Ibrox boss has joined chief executive Charles Green this week in calling for the club to leapfrog the majority of current Second Division sides, if league reconstruction goes ahead, and be placed in the second level under the proposed 12-12-18 setup. Both feel that, should the club win this season's Third Division ahead of change, they would not be promoted as they would be joined in the third tier by every other side in the bottom league. McCoist also believes awarding his side a double promotion could put more money in the pockets of opposition clubs. "Scottish football is in a sorry state right now so we have to do whatâ??s best for the benefit of the game," he is quoted as saying on Rangers' official website. "Dunfermline are clearly in trouble just now, Hearts have troubles too and we have obviously had our well-documented problems so we must do something that is mutually beneficial to Scottish football. "If moving us into the second 12 means that there will be such a benefit then surely it has to happen." McCoist has also referenced what he believes is a precedent set by Stranraer in the 1993/94 season. The Scottish leagues were to be expanded to four divisions in the following season, with the Blues winning the third tier championship. Stranraer, as champions, moved up one level to the new second tier, with five clubs being relegated as the First Division contracted from 12 teams to 10. "I really feel that the precedent set by the Stranraer situation in 1994 should be followed," he said. "We are in a position where we are close to winning the championship and hopefully promotion. "In our eyes, if 12-12-18 is implemented and we are in the 18 then I donâ??t see us getting promotion. "The argument would be that we would in the third tier but I donâ??t buy that because every other team in the league would be getting promotion with us. "I donâ??t think that is fair â?? especially when a precedent has been set. Stranraer won the bottom tier in 1994 and were promoted two divisions due to reconstruction." In an article on Rangers' website it is also said: "...Article 85 of the Scottish Football Leagueâ??s Constitution states clearly that in the event of the formation of a new league body the champions of each division should be promoted." Rule 85 states in full: "It shall not be competent to resolve to wind up the League with the purpose or effect of then re-forming a National Association Football League within three years of the date of the resolution to wind up which shall exclude any club formerly in membership of the League or which shall exclude a club formerly in membership of the League from being promoted to a higher division of such League where it had a legitimate expectation of such promotion when a member of the League, unless such club shall consent in writing to such exclusion; and in the event of such a resolution being passed and such circumstances arising within the said three year period such resolution shall be null and void and treated as such." http://sport.stv.tv/football/218458-ally-mccoist-putting-rangers-in-second-tier-would-benefit-other-clubs/
  19. Used to go and watch Scotland all the time in the heady days of World Cup qualification, I was one of the famous pitch invaders (long hair, platforms, tank-top & tartan scarf) who brought home a piece of the Wembley turf - kept it in a plant pot 'cos I lived 16 floors up in a block of flats back then - I don't go now but never miss a game when it's on the box, and will watch as usual on Friday
  20. Oh really? Your body language all season has suggested the opposite Fran. Hope he never kicks another ball for the first team, players like that upset the balance and attitude of the whole side, why Ally kept picking him in favour of top scorer Little is baffling.
  21. We still don't even know where we'll be playing next season, a lot will depend on that regarding which players we can tempt.
  22. Yeah, the Bob Malcolm 'FTP' thing was all over the mhedia, as was Donald Findlay's quote "It's very smoky in here tonight - has another fucking Pope died?" Both slaughtered for their wee jokes
  23. Don't see why ES have to apologise for this idiot....SACK HIM!
  24. If it's all true then we should thank Tommy the tim for doing us a big favour. Can't see why anyone who supports them wanting to do this though, unless Fran set it up himself.
  25. According to reports half of them turned up with scarves covering their faces.....at least small children and babies were spared the frightening experience of seeing their ugly coupons.
