Ally McCoist confirms signing talks with Nicky Clark
54andcounting replied to RANGERRAB's topic in Rangers Chat
Goalscorers are the most important thing in football and don't any smart arse say otherwise. Clark bagged 40 in 45 games and proved to me anyway that he has a gift. Get the guy signed and we'll see how good he really is. -
NEW: SFL Clubs Breakaway to From Championship (SPFL2)
54andcounting replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Personally speaking I think cloak and dagger stuff is going on between every party (except sellik) with Rangers the main say. We've been dealt a huge kick in the balls resulting in a knock on effect on every club at the top end. 3rd division clubs have reaped the rewards from that but that won't save the game neither will lining the pockets of the 2nd division clubs change it either. Septic like the way it is, a one horse race as long as possible CL last 16 every year, buckets of money pouring into their coffers while every other club goes to the wall. Maybe we do have influence I think Rangers might be behind this....stop the mhanks from getting rich and destroying the game. Better to have someone to stand up as oppose to sitting back. I'm changing my tune again (nothing wrong with that) I'm thinking now we should join the so called SPL2 quickly before timmy puts every club including Rangers to the sword. If it's not too late. If we get an invite, GRAB IT.....It WONT be an invite from THEM far from it -
This was meant to hit the news on April 1st and someone forgot...so the fools put it out anyway.

Green always did say he would have nothing to do with the SPL in his time, well he's gone now and the door is open. But then again Charles said a lot of things -
NEW: SFL Clubs Breakaway to From Championship (SPFL2)
54andcounting replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I can't quite get my head round all this. The SPL clubs are running short of money, so the way out of it is to give MORE money away of what they have to another 10 clubs. Rangers must be involved in this madness -
To keep the thread alive I'll post all results as they happen. Tonight in the East section Stenhousemuir won 4-1 against whipping boys Raith Rovers. The East section table as it stands: Livingston........5..4..0..1..14...2..12 Stenhousemuir.7..3..2..2..16..10..11 Cowdenbeath...5..2..1..2...6..10...7 East Fife.........5..2..1..2..10...3...7 Raith Rovers.....6..1..0..5...5..21...3 This lot have to complete 8 games, so nearly there (we'll be playing the team that finishes 2nd)

I couldn't find anywhere on Gersnet a thread on the 'Swifts' efforts in the Reserve League Cup. If this post should be merged with the 'Youths' thread please admin feel free to move it, I'll try to update it as the competition progresses (as long as The Swifts are involved). The competition started on the 11th Feb, the semi-finals were meant to take place on 22nd Apr and Final one week later on the 29th. Because of the weather and multi postponements this will be somewhat later than scheduled. This is the format for the Reserve League Cup: Two sections: East Section â?? This section consists of FIVE clubs each playing their respective opponents twice, (giving each club a total of eight matches). The teams:- Cowdenbeath East Fife Livingston Raith Rovers Stenhousemuir West Section - This section consists of EIGHT clubs each playing their respective opponents once, (giving each club a total of seven matches). The teams:- Airdrie United Annan Athletic Ayr United Morton Partick Thistle Queen of the South Queen's Park Rangers Semi-Finals Winner of East Section v Runner-up of West Section Winner of West Section v Runner-up of East Section West section, Swifts results: 26th Febru..Rangers..3 Q.o.S......3 06th March..Rangers..3 Ayr Utd....0 17th April..Rangers..2 Partick T..0 22nd April..Rangers..4 Annan Ath..2 24th April..Rangers.10 Airdrie....1 25th April..Rangers..3 Morton.....0 The Swifts have already qualified for the semis along with Queens Park who our final match is against on Thursday 9th May, this is how the top two in the West section looks Rangers....6..5..1..0..25..6..16 Queens Pk.5..4..1..0..12..3..13 The top two in the East section are Livingston with 12pts and Stenhousemuir with 8pts, but that section still has a helluva lot of games outstanding, but this wont take too long, you'll notice The Swifts played on the 22nd, 24th & 25th of April to catch up. We are looking like we could well bag this trophy, I'll keep you updated on our progress.

Players and officials at Swedish football club AIK were in shock following the sudden death of goalkeeper Ivan Turina on Thursday at the age of 32. "It is with great sorrow and shock that we can confirm that goalkeeper Ivan Turina passed away on the night between Wednesday and Thursday," the club said in a statement. "Ivan died suddenly in his sleep and at the moment no crime is suspected." http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/02/aik-ivan-turina-goalkeeper-dead

Fast-track Rangers back to top, says Mark Hateley
54andcounting replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The 2nd division could provide Rangers fans more opportunity to attend away games - already playing there are Ayr United with a ground capacity of 10,185. Definitely joining them will be relegated Airdrie United with a capacity stadium of 10,171 (all seated). Dunfermline Athletic could also come down depending on results this Saturday and the play-offs, their ground holds 11,984, and of course Queens Park with 52,025 if they could win their play-off games that would be great. Including Rangers that would make half the league clubs competing having stadiums of 10,000+. Yep, should be fun. -
I don't think it's a step backwards, we desperately need entertainment on the field to fill seats at Ibrox. Winning the 2nd division will be as easy as winning the 3rd but we can't have another season like this one because the stadium will lose fans after a few games. Miller, Boyd and Novo along with Nicky Clark will sell tickets and that's all that matters. By the time we get back to the top we'll have the cash to buy real quality.

Why Ally McCoist Must Step Down As Rangers Manager
54andcounting replied to simplythebest's topic in Rangers Chat
I wanted Ally replaced as manager after we got knocked out of two European competitions and got beaten in the League Cup, then we went and threw away a 15 point lead against a very poor tim side that made me even more angry. My opinion didn't change much after our opening league game against Peterhead followed by terrible performances by players due to being played out of position. Beaten by Stirling then home defeats by Annan Athletic (lowest point for Rangers on the park in history) and Peterhead, throw in a couple of humiliating draws against farmers, joiners, betterware distributors, etc and it just about sums up Ally when it comes to being a good manager. Christ! Rangers deserve a 'great' manager. -

F-T Wow!...a brilliant display by Bayern, truly wonderful. An all German final at Wembley now in celebration of the FA's birthday - superb stuff. Hope Jurgen pops over from the USA for the final and gives us some of this.... -

76 - GOAL 0-3 (0-7) MUELLER! Total humiliation. Ribery again racing clear the left and this time he stands up his cross to the back post where Mueller rises above Adriano to nod home from close range -

73 - 0-2 OWN GOAL - PIQUE! Barca ripped open by Bayern as Dani Alves fails to track Ribery's run. He's found by a smart pass and then fires a low cross that Pique can only divert into his own net -

The last team to win both legs of a European knockout tie against Barcelona was, I'm reliably informed, Dundee United in 1987. Don't blame me if that's wrong, though.
