Rangers board to decide Malcolm Murrayâ??s fate

BBC Scotlands finest batsman -
The future of Rangers chairman Malcolm Murray is again in doubt as reports of an emergency directors meeting emerged today. â?¢ Fears that Walter Smith could leave position at Rangers â?¢ Increasingly uneasy relationship between Murray and the board. The embattled chairman has been under intense pressure following a bitter power struggle for control of the Ibrox club, and it is thought the meeting could spell the end for Murray. The Rangers board have accused Murray of inappropriate conduct such as leaking sensitive club information to newspapapers and to former director Paul Murray. He is also accused of plotting to oust finance director Brian Stockbridge, who appeared to â??stitch upâ? the chairman by releasing video of Murray drunk on a night out. Murray, still has backing from sections of the board - most notably former manager Walter Smith - but his increasingly precarious position with other quarters is likely to signal the end for Murray. Walter Smith has threatened to leave his role at Rangers over the way the board has handled the attempt to remove Murray. A source told the Sun: â??Murray would probably have gone by now if it wasnâ??t for the fact that the board are desperate for Walter Smith to stay. â??There are a lot of dirty tricks behind the scenes and at least this meeting should make people come clean about what they want.â? The 57-year-old spent most of his career in investment and pension fund management. Murray is a life long Rangers fan, so was seen as an ideal figure head for the board when appointed as non-executive chairman last June, two months after Charles Green led the purchase of the club. Last week secret recordings were unearthed which appeared to confirm that Charles Green ally Imran Ahmad had fired Murray months ago, but Green and Ahmad had given the chairman a stay until the end of the season. The relationship soon turned sour, with reports of unrest between Green and Murray leading to the board giving Murray a vote of no confidence after in emerged Green had made attempts to remove him. http://www.scotsman.com/news/scottish-news/top-stories/rangers-board-to-decide-malcolm-murray-s-fate-1-2943671?

Eight-pointed starball? We are part of the history of why that design was chosen?...mm'..never knew that..I'm chuffed.

I think you were brave using the Hillsborough situation to forward your point, but they're will always be others who'll condemn you for it. The need to use that to try to explain our situation is walking on eggshells...but you already knew that. I commend you for an excellent insight into the dilemma we face.

That would be something else... On the subject, if we could attract a big club (and it pains me to say that) it would be beneficial to the young guys who are making their way at the club at the moment. All the boardroom side shows going at the mo are destroying us and need to be sorted quickly. My grandson who's 10 years old craves watching The Rangers and that's how we all started out. That's the depressing thing regarding the youngsters...we cant tell them when the next game is. Everything has gone haywire.

Hey...we have a keeper. The Goale MkII? Wish Ally had the same 'clout' as Souness (not a criticism)...he has the same idea, buy a goalie first, but because of the situation we find ourselves in our hands are tied to a certain extent. Wouldn't surprise me tho' if our next big signing is a proper CB in the Butcher mould.

Brian Stockbridge Accused - Dirty Tricks

F**king Whyte!! Isn't it criminal that us on here have to mention his name 1 year on? The day that c**t is history is the day we can celebrate and get on what RFC is really about. B@stard!! -
We signed a player today - so not everything has been forgotten about

Have we set up any pre-season friendlies yet? Could we tempt an EPL side to come to Ibrox for a game? I know we could get a serious humping but as they say - you can learn a lot from defeat.

Bell hoping for quick Rangers debut New Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell has not given up hope of beating the club's registration embargo and making his debut before September 1. The former Kilmarnock stopper has penned a four-year deal with the Ibrox outfit that will see him officially sign as a player once the ban on new recruits is lifted. But Bell - who is the first new face to check in at Rangers since David Templeton arrived from Hearts on August 31 last year - could yet feature for Ally McCoist's side before the ban is lifted. Reports have suggested that Bell will be able to feature as a trialist in three Irn-Bru Second Division games as well as one Ramsdens Cup tie.

Brian Stockbridge Accused - Dirty Tricks

Rangers fans’ chief: ‘Brian Stockbridge must go’ BRIAN Stockbridge should resign over his alleged leak of video showing a drunken Malcolm Murray, according to the head of one of Rangers’ largest supporters’ bodies. Video emerged over the weekend showing Murray, the club chairman, drunkenly shouting while on a night out in London. The Daily Record reports that Murray believes he has been set up by Stockbridge in an attempt to remove him from his post. Now Andy Kerr, President of the Rangers Supporters Assembly, has called for Stockbridge to stand down. Kerr told the Record: “It’s unbecoming of the club. The lack of class is not something Rangers fans have been used to. “If we’re at the stage where the level of trust between the people running the club is so bad that they go behind each other’s back taping incidents, then release them on the web – it’s a sorry state of affairs. “It appears Stockbridge is the one filming the chairman so I’d have to say his position is now untenable at Ibrox.” The Rangers Supporters Assembly is an umbrella group made up of a range of supporters’ groups and other interested parties. It holds regular meetings with the Ibrox board, and receives funding from the club as well as the use of office space inside Ibrox. The Assembly was responsible for organising the boycott of this season’s Scottish Cup tie at Dundee United, although its vice-president Ross Blyth resigned after himself attending the game. Kerr has been critical of the Ibrox board in recent weeks, and called for the executives to resolve their differences or risk losing out on season ticket sales. Rangers’ official website describes Kerr as “the official spokesman for fans in the media”. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/top-football-stories/rangers-fans-chief-brian-stockbridge-must-go-1-2939495 -

STB, you might have cried yourself to sleep over Barry leaving, I can understand that because I was the same when 'Bud' Johnston left to join WBA. I was a WBA fan for months after that. Surely mate the developments over the past month or so must have given you some doubt about Charles? It's not so much about Whyte coming out with secret tapes it's more to do with Charles's sidekicks doing the very same thing - secret tapes/video's - they seem to be cut from the same cloth attended the same school of business a bit too creepy for my liking. -
The sixty-four-thousand-dollar question

If all fans, well at least a large majority stood up and said we won't be buying ST's until you are gone would that not force them to sell (to the right people of course) or could they just shut us down? I'm at a loss on these matters -

Someone who understands the fans love for a football club would do for starters I suppose. -
Who do we need NOW! When CW took over I was a happy chappie, but it didn't take too long for some posters on Gersnet to voice concerns about him and I really couldn't understand it at the time. Well what transpired was CW was nothing less than a c*nt. Enter CG..now I thought here we go stability at last, but even before he settled into his chair at Ibrox, again there were disgruntled Rangers fans voicing negatives about the guy to the extent I was convinced these 'Rangers fans' weren't what they made out to be only wanting 'their men' in place accusing Green of 'moonbeams' and calling him a liar. Right up to the day Green walked out for the last time (I hope) I backed him and stupidly believed he was the right man to take us forward. I'm actually embarrassed with myself for believing in him now. Okay, his connections to Whyte are still under investigation but the behaviour of his cronies Stockbridge & Ahmad have shocked and disgusted me to the extent of being physically sick. Our chairman staggering out of a restaurant beggars belief as well, how so unprofessional and utterly disgraceful for a Rangers FC chairman to behave in a public place. What would a certain Mr Bill Struth make of it all if he were alive today? Any you guys out there got any idea who would be the right man/men for us? I'm only asking because I haven't got a bloody clue.
