  1. Corinthians are waiting to hold talks with Paulinho after the midfielder claimed it would be a 'fantastic opportunity' to play for Tottenham Hotspur. Paulinho is currently on Confederations Cup duty with Brazil and claimed last week that Premier League side Spurs had made an offer. Reports suggest that Spurs have matched the 24-year-old's 20million (£17m) buy-out clause and Corinthians director Duilio Monteiro Alves wants to discuss the situation with Paulinho after the Confederations Cup.
  2. Nothing ever stays the same....
  3. Rangers manager Ally McCoist targets a defender Rangers manager Ally McCoist has targeted a defender as he seeks to bolster his squad further ahead of the new season. The Light Blues boss has added goalkeeper Cammy Bell, Nicky Law, Arnold Peralta, Jon Daly, Stevie Smith and Nicky Clark to his squad for their forthcoming Second Division campaign. But McCoist is still on a quest for new blood, telling RangersTV: "I'm delighted with the signings we have made. "We would still like to strengthen, especially in the centre back area - that would be ideal. When you look back to last season we were very light up front at times. "We have brought in big Jon and Nicky who are proven centre forwards and hopefully will prove to be good goal-scorers for us too. "I would still like to add another body in that area but these two will certainly strengthen the striking department. "We have Nicky Law and Arnold Peralta who will strengthen the middle of the park - although Arnold is not with us yet due to World Cup action with Honduras - so we are in reasonable shape. "Hopefully we will get Arnold over shortly so that he can have a look at the place and the players and also have a look around for a place to stay. "Then we will let him have a few weeks off to spend time with his family because his fitness is fine as he has been playing over the summer." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8791150/?

  5. Rangers v Partick Thistle, 1924. Glasgow Corporation Transport opened their recreation ground at Helenvale Street, Parkhead in 1924. The Duke of York (later King George VI) performed the opening ceremony, and kicked off a match between Rangers and Thistle.
  6. Nicky Clark had 21 - Now that the spl has taken over the sfl, anyone know if the players will have a 'squad number' instead of 1-11 on match days?
  7. Steven Smith: We Can Help Gers' Kids STEVEN SMITH hopes Rangers signing more experienced players this summer can help the younger stars at Ibrox to keep developing and build on the strides they made last season. Full-back Smith checked into Murray Park this morning with the Light Blues first-team squad for the first day of pre-season training. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/4301-we-can-help-gers-kids?
  8. So that's who banned me?
  9. Yep they are indeed Frankie. Mystery solved (for me )
  10. ...Ahh, thanks Frankie, that just about explains it. I didn't know the west and east dates were different. Cheers mate.
  11. The BSMS signs were added in 2006 - the date still says 1928 in the pic.
  12. Must have been after 2006, the stand wasn't named Bill Struth until then...
  13. While looking for more information I found this.... Old Villa Park (Archibald Leitch) ...the arches exactly like the Ibrox Stadium ones ...not unlike the Ibrox stand. ...familiar? The sad thing about this is the whole thing was demolished in 2001.
  14. Thanks guy's... It was myself who originally posed this question a couple of years ago (couldn't find that thread BD) and at the time it seemed feasible to accept Zappas explanation for the 1981 date. The crests are actually mosaics I found this picture.... ...the date there says 1928 that probably relates to the construction of the stand itself (opened 1929). The interesting thing about this picture is the 'BILL STRUTH MAIN STAND' plaque under the date. The Bill Struth stand was so named in 2006, the stand was refurbished and the third tier was added in 1994, I was curious as to why 1981 was put in there after 2006 it would have made more sense to put 1994 in there don't you think? Obviously this date change happened after 2006 but I can't for the love of god find any records of this work being carried out, that's why I felt it worthwhile to ask again.
  15. Can somebody tell me what these years signify on the side of the stadium? No guesses, just facts please.
  16. But we have a free slot - 31st July? Looks like a big GIRUY without actually telling them. No One Likes Us We Don't Care.
  17. Some of the youngsters we had on show last season were a joy to watch at times compared to the so called spl drivvel types we had to endure. The experience gained and with proper coaching these lads are bursting and ready to take the next step up and become improved players. But sadly it won't happen....one step forward, two steps back I fear.
  18. Puma have used recycled polyester and Cocona ( carbon from coconut shells) and features coloured cuffs, as can be seen in the pictures above. Hmm...
  19. Ticket trouble for Jambos HEARTS’ attempts at raising up to £800,000 through additional season ticket sales have been hampered after credit and debit card sales were blocked. Online sales have also been suspended, with the Jambos only able to accept purchases made in cash or by cheque at Tynecastle. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/409577/Ticket-trouble-for-Jambos
  20. The league fixtures were published separately last week by the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League but will come under the banner of the SPFL when the restructured organisation is formally constituted at a meeting of all 42 clubs at Hampden on 27 June.
  21. ...also it wouldn't cost much to fix the hinges on these ...the left one isn't aligned with the right - been like that for years. And while they're at it they should replace the poor replica gates at the Copland Rd end... ...with an identical replica of the Broomloan Rd end
  22. A wee reminder of what the great man said when being presented with the portrait that now hangs in the Ibrox trophy room. Our very success, gained you will agree by skill, will draw more people than ever to see it. And that will benefit many more clubs than Rangers. Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase. It is healthy for us. We will never hide from it. Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity. No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.
  23. Watched Brazil v Italy last night in the Confederations Cup. By far best Puma kit I've seen yet
  24. PR own goal
