Former Rangers owner Sir David Murray's profits soar
forlanssister replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Of course it's theoretically possible as King stated (with a fair wind and a hell of a lot of luck) but the notion of Murray dipping his hand in his pocket to further that particular cause is frankly laughably ridiculous. -

Pray tell, how? -
We really need to move past the signing of old players we're travelling down a different road now. I've absolutely nothing against any of the players that left but see little value in any of them returning.

RANGERS have snapped up Scotland Under-16 captain Jack Adamson
forlanssister replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
We originally took him from them. -
Been in the presence of some of the blind party at away games on a few occasions, it was a bit surreal, very humbling experience at times quite amusing and uplifting. There is commentary available at some grounds Ibrox being one of them, though some still prefer the commentary from someone next to them. http://www.rexblindparties.com/index.htm https://twitter.com/rfcblindparty

I fail to see the need for or any benefit in a listing, in any case AIM regulators f*&ked us over rather than face their own failings. As far as we're concerned the pool of institution funding has long run dry, we're strictly an emotional investment for the foreseeable future at the very least.
-
Yes improvements have to be made in respect to the blind fans and also the ambulant disabled too, the aim is access for all.

Pardon me for having an opinion!

Perhaps but if that plan is going to bear fruit then it's me and my ilk who need to be persuaded to become members.

Looks to me as if it's more a de facto takeover of the RST by RF than an actual merger . *for clarity I'm not a member of either organisation*

If the Disabled Access page is an indication then I'm distinctly underwhelmed, information is over a year out of date.

I credit the overwhelming majority of posters on here (yourself included) to read that and have the wit to fathom what it means, A Brief History Of Time it ain't. I suspect you're trolling hoping to hook someone so you can indulge in your favourite sport of pontification.

Long said the claim is one of mere nuisance value.

Should Rangers fans help subsidise accessibility plans?
forlanssister replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes access is one of the major issues to overcome and the design and construction of the stadium do not lend themselves to easy adaption, health and safety issues as you point out complicate matters even further. This is one of the reasons I favour a step by step stand by stand approach where the provision of the facilities go hand in hand with the general upgrading/refurbishment of a stand, whilst that may take longer than would be ideal I feel it would be better all round. Temporary facilities (such as those you see at concerts) could be installed for European games, I'm pretty sure if UEFA were to see that the improvements were being installed in a planned structured manner over a few seasons that they would take a favourable view, there is a precedent for such actions the Europa Cup Final that took place in Fenerbache's new ground a few seasons back had temporary wheelchair facilities installed for the final. -

As far as I'm aware there is still a waiting list, prior to the 35 spaces being installed in the East Enclosure the waiting list was over 10 years long, (presently I don't know how many are on it or how long it is). The UEFA guideline on capacity shouldn't be viewed as a maximum. I see no reason for not catering to casual wheelchair fans, there's a type of seating that can be installed that can convert to a wheelchair space if needed and used in the normal manner if not. -
Has to be Hardie, Clark simply is nowhere near the required standard, one of the worst if not the worst footballer we have on the books, giving him game time ahead of Hardie is pointless.

As I stated in the article I do have a degree of sympathy for the current incumbents as it is they who have to effectively carry the can but in saying that two of them were on the Board when I was raising the point on the lack of suitable facilities at the AGM's back in the David Murray era. -

As I said on the previous page come what may it'll be the fans who pay for the improvements either directly or indirectly. We've had two share issues since these regulations were announced and not a penny went to addressing the problem. They have already failed us, UEFA sounded the klaxon on this in 2011. Euro 2016 will be the first UEFA tournament that complies, 5 years is ample warning. -

If UEFA are serious about this and I'm told they really are (though I still have my doubts!) then if Rangers want to play European football at Ibrox then the improvements are going to have to be made and at the end of the day the cost for that will come out the pockets of the fans either directly or indirectly. In days gone by this is the kind of thing that would have attracted a grant from what was the Football Trust via the levy on the Pools and Spot the Ball. Whether it would now attract Lottery funding I honestly don't know. The 35 spaces that were installed in the East Enclosure were paid for by GCC, admittedly not the best quality ( and doubtful if they comply with the new guidelines) but most welcome nonetheless. Meanwhile across the city they have a new elevated section at the rear of one of the corners with it's own dedicated lounge and also installed some elevated spaces in the away corner, which should help the view from there which frankly borders on the criminal. I'd like to see Rangers take a structured approach on a stand by stand basis even if this takes longer to achieve it's more important than things are done correctly rather than in haste. We all know practically every section of Ibrox needs money spent on it after years of neglect and the wheelchair facility issue should be factored into that along with other things like safe standing (which would help mitigate the capacity loss issue). If you read the UEFA link in the other thread you'll see it's not simply a case of providing the wheelchair spaces alone at Ibrox the additional infrastructure has to be installed, proper disabled parking spaces, accessible toilets (one for every 15 spaces, currently 1 for 35 in EE and 2 for 65 in the WE) accessible food kiosks etc...etc... all issues that significantly add to the cost factor. I think any monies raised through ticket levy or whatever method should be ring fenced so they're not syphoned off to general running costs and so people can see exactly how the money is being spent. -
I think something could be done with the ends of Bar72. I also think the fronts of the Copland and Broomloan could be adapted along the lines of Bar72 and would probably one of the options that would least affect capacity. I agree, that would surely be one of the least contentious uses for the money. What I've seen of it it certainly looks one of the better thought out stadiums in that regards also Swanseas stadium is excellent too.
