Again missing the point - you are right it would be a pitiful amount however if he owned us he could buy a half decent team and have his brand exposed to Europeans biggest platform for the fraction of the cost he spends on Newcastle.

You could have Rangers playing in the CL year in year out for the price of one big signing for Newcastle. It's not really about our reputation anymore just think of the exposure of the brand if we were playing Barcelona at the Sports Direct Stadium - where we could be wearing Sports direct shirts sponsors. This type of advertisement is priceless. With that said - I hope the above never happens.

See my point above - he is looking to open Sports Direct across Europe. He could in theory buy us and put sports direct on our shirt or even change our stadium name to help promote his brand.

Complete missed the point... I didn't say he wanted to make a profit with us - I said it would allow him to promote his sports direct business on the European stage.

Iv always said this makes sense for Ashley as he plans in expanding Sports Direct across Europe. What better way to advertise your brand than have a team playing in the champions league with Sports Direct as the main sponsor. It would cost him pennies to takes us there consistently - whereas to get Newcastle in the top 4 in England would cost an arm and a leg.
