  1. Friedel is 40 I believe and has 18 months left on his Spurs contract. So will be 42 when contract is up, goalkeepers don't really peak until they are Shaggers age. Also I agree with you on Van Der Sar, Man U bought him when he was 35/36ish so there you go.

Also Pepe Reina looks older than he actually is, he is 29.

  2. I thought it was a soft red, but felt it was never going to be rescinded whether it is me being paranoid or not. I also felt McCulloch didn't deserve the old firm game the way it ultimately cost us against St Mirren as clearly the St Mirren guys tackle wound him up.

  3. RANGERS have rejected a £500,000 bid for Maurice Edu. The USA international has been targeted by French club Sochaux. And SunSport can reveal the struggling Ligue 1 side last night made their move for the midfielder. The offer was immediately turned down though, with Gers desperate to keep their top stars at Ibrox this month. But it's understood Sochaux coach Mecha Bazdarevic won't take no for an answer as he bids to steer his club away from relegation danger. Edu is one of several players he hopes to land this month, with Gers bracing themselves for a fresh offer for the 25-year-old within the next 48 hours. Losing Edu would be a huge blow to Ibrox boss Ally McCoist, who hoped to secure the midfielder on a new long-term deal. He has helped rebuild Edu's confidence and career, with the American regarded as an integral part of a Rangers side chasing four-in-a-row after rediscovering his form. But Sochaux supremo Bazdarevic last night confirmed: "I want one or two quality players." Earlier this week McCoist begged Ibrox chairman Craig Whyte to allow him to strengthen this month as the Premier League vultures continue to circle Nikica Jelavic and Steven Davis. Its like one of our bids, however £500k is quite bad, for me face value i.e. what we paid for him and then we should consider talking. Edu still has 18 months left so not too desperate yet. I know he isn't the flavour of the month or has been for a while but he has been improving and reputation, from international experience and playing for us in Europe would not make his value decrease by £2m over the past 3 and a half years, ffs.

    And its the Sun....

  4. Team wants player, we don't need to sell, means buying club have to pay more. I think £8m might just seal it, anything less imo would be a disappointment.

As for the blog, he may well be uninterested but the service he has been getting recently and support from others on the pitch, means that I can't blame him for having his mind away from the pitch however he is a professional and should do his job correctly.

  5. Hutton was mentioned along with Fleck, at the time, for another loan move. This time Hutton might go to Sheffield Utd but I actually thought Hutton played for us this season and therefore can't goto another club.

  6. Bendiksen will be leaving for Tromsø and Ally suggesting about Novo.

Can't really blame Bendiksen but I can also see that we stuck by him through his injury. However don't think he would get the game time here he wants.

As for Novo step backwards should never have left but going back to him when he is the wrong side of 30 now and his pace and sharpness will be in decline, very noticeable in his type of player.

  7. A quick turnaround from being just about to go on loan but after today I'm not surprised.

With the news of Lafferty's injury then WE need a striker, Healy did fine but Motherwell always struggle against us.

  8. Aye, he'd be a lucky man if he kept his job, but we need the players to do the business in Arbroath as well. If they don't they might cost Ally his job.

Depends who he picks up there, as it will be similar conditions to the other night, always windy in Arbroath.

  9. I think Ally deserves a proper chance and to me that means more than just one season. Unfortunately, a lot of other fans don't feel the same way and are already wanting Ally out the door. Going out of Europe and the League Cup so early, our recent slump in results as well as some baffling team selections and substitutions haven't helped his case much, but I still think it's unfair to call for his head at this stage when we're still well and truly in the league title chase. Got to say though, Ally's time as Rangers manager could be brought to an early close if we get put out of the Scottish Cup by Arbroath.

If that does happen then he surely needs to go.

  10. Sorry to tell you mate he's off in January. Between Weir, Healy and Beattie the wages are £50,000/week. They tried to punt all three in the summer but only got rid of Beattie.

Really? If they did the sensible thing and not offer Weir and Healy a contract, but we don't do sense it seems....

  11. Of course not, throwing away a 12(technically 9 if you wish) to a 2 point deficit in 2 months. Playing the worst football in my lifetime (don't get on at me I'm young). I also missed the 05/06 season where we were third.

Plus the fact of the European exploits were a shambles, the squad also lacks discipline (How many red cards have we had?) and to top it off appealing McCullochs card so that he could play tonight says it for me, granted he played ok, not great though.

  12. The attitude towards some players truly amazes me!

I can understand the attitude to players that weren't very good with us. But to dismiss his goals because he was lazy and his attitude towards the end of his stay here is baffling, it is always a 50/50 split with him for some reason even though he scored a lot for us and helped us in our title wins whether people like it or not.

  13. I liked that part where he claims to make footballl more affordable, but at £42 for the last OF game, I'm puzzled as to what that statement actually means.

The 'Well game on 2nd January is £25, which is just about affordable, but the sheep game is £27? Is that because there will be more police present at that game? The 'Well game seems more important to me than relugation strugglers.

Aberdeen bring a decent away support, Motherwell probably won't, even if they are third.

  14. My point still remains that we have probably spent more on transfers than Celtic over the last years. Celtic have a bigger wage bill than us. All in all Rangers and Celtic will fight it out every year as they are both roughly in the same class and the rest will produce a winning performance now and again but it is very unlikely they will get near to winning the league.

As I said I can't be bothered drudging through old posts so I will call it quits on what you exactly said.

Just checked, past 6 years we haven't roughly £500k less. What we are lagging behind is getting money back even though we sold Hutton and Cuellar but that could change if we sell Jelavic...

  15. I only find it harsh on Kerkar and possibly Ortiz for the rest I agree with you.

Kerkar has played very little in a year and half and the amount of negotiating we had to get him and end up not playing just seems odd. It does seem like a buddy for Bougherra.

Ortiz hasn't really been up to much but is still adapting but he hasn't been thrown on in some game to mix things up or give him game time.
