Webster may be doing well for Dundee United but so are Gary Kenneth and Darren Dods and would anyone sign them and have them as first choice? I don't believe Webster will be first choice because at the VERY least, we'll have Weir and Wilson in front of him
-
Backup to Wilson and Bougherra or Wilson and Bougherra's proper replacement and i'll be fine with it He should not be a first choice however
-
Fulham and Lyon have squads we could only dream of having though the sentiment is reasonable enough. Still, Rangers aren't going to knock Real Madrid out of the European Cup any time soon
-
Yeah i'm glad that they're unlikely to make the top 6 as Pittodrie (like Fir Park) is a ground where i just know before the game has even kicked off that we're incredibly unlikely to win, for whatever reason In order to make sure we play 19 at home and 19 away though we'll either have to go to Tynecastle, Fir Park, or Tannadice 3 times

You have to feel for the big fella Desperately hoped that Celtic would offer him the job. Took the Aberdeen job knowing that a 3rd or 4th place finish would probably be enough to make him first (cheapest) choice when Mogga got the bullet, and instead he's actually doing a worse job than Ebbe Skovdahl

My own, probably unpopular, opinion is that anyone who thinks that a team who hasn't signed a player for 2 years should be competing for European trophies is totally and utterly deluded At best, the next 20 years might produce a run to the 1/4 finals of the Champions League or maybe another Europa League final, but a team from Scotland will never be a regular success story in Europe regardless of tactics or who their manager is. Advocaat couldn't even pip Sturm Graz to CL qualification despite spending the best part of £50 million
-
Maybe they'll sell Fortune for £3.8 million and Brown for £15 million to raise the funds
-
Maybe they'll turn down £9,000,000 from Villa and instead let him stay on loan at his boyhood heroes for free for another season?

Considering Manchester United have played 4-5-1 in Europe for 4 years in a row now, it really does astound me how so many of our fans are completely intolerant of this formation and see no benefits of playing it 4-5-1 got us to a European final. 4-4-2 got us beaten 3-0 over 45 minutes by a team of Romanian minnows at Ibrox
-
We play 1 up at home in Europe because our midfield is nowhere near good enough to play 4-4-2 without being picked off First half against Unirea we played 4-5-1 and it was 1-1 at half time At half time we replaced Mendes with Lafferty, played 4-4-2, and lost 4-1

I've yet to see anyone even hint that he is. Thinking we'd be better off keeping him than appointing any of the realistic alternatives does not mean that the person thinks Walter is irreplaceable

Miller accepts 'timely reminder'

We played a midweek game and Celtic didn't, so not anymore -
Whether or not it was mentioned in the 3 or 4 posts above mine, there is a great deal of our fanbase (just look at any new manager thread on FF) who think that Walter could be replaced by a big name foreign manager. I find this incredibly naive. If Walter is axed it will be for financial reasons and he'll be replaced by someone of the ilk of Billy Davies. An Englishman with no real affinity with Rangers would look upon Walter Smith as a club hero. There's only one reason he'd sack him.

It's not a time to be cocky just yet. We still have to go to Tynecastle (probably twice), Tannadice, Easter Road and Celtic Park therefore we cannot afford to drop stupid points at Ibrox or against 'diddy' teams -

Miller and Boyd have both been rank rotten since they came back into the side 5 or 6 games ago -
If a new owner comes in and replaces Walter it will be for financial reasons. Anyone who thinks they'll try and bring in some big name foreign coach is off their rocker

Treble chance, but just how will this Rangers team be remembered?
Dr Preston Burke replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The vast majority of our squad is nowhere near good enough for European football, rather than our manager being the main problem -

lol yes i mean it was worse yesterday than it has been all season It was weird as Paul Mitchell and the other guy, Craig Paterson was it, were talking about how our defence can easily shut up shop when we go ahead and then all of a sudden we gifted them 2 of the softed goals of the season -

Papac has never concerned me. He cost 10 times less than our last regular left back Michael Ball and is a much better player than him. -

Wilson was also very shaky in the last round in the 0-0 draw at St Mirren. I don't think the constantly being dropped is helping him. Walter may say it aids his development but i don't buy that for a second. He's dropped because Weir is, rightly or wrongly, undroppable -

Me too; very interesting how people can view the game so differently I remember just before i stopped posting on FF, i came on at half time of the away game against Unirea to praise Lafferty who i thought had had a very positive first half, and someone had actually started a sub-topic saying how appalling he had been Everyone sees things differently i guess -

He flapped at every cross that came near him. Didn't catch one all day. Our defence in general was as bad yesterday as it has been all season domestically and for the first time i actually have my worries about the Weir/Wilson partnership
