Need someone to keep 'Duncan' warm in bed at night?
-
Stevie Smith is out of contract in the summer and i'd say it's about 95% certain he'll leave considering there hasn't been a peep mentioned about a new contract for him. I think we'll be content with Whittaker's ability to play at left back rather than buy a backup for Papac though. Broadfoot can also play left back.

Mowbray knows as much about good strikers as my arse knows about snipe shooting. Let's hope 'Duncan' is another Fortuney

Everton plan swoop for Charlie Adam
Dr Preston Burke replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Charlie by his own admission was not a left winger. His best position is left central midfield in a 4-3-3. He only started in this position about 5 times in his entire Rangers career (2 notable occasions were the 3-0 win over Celtic in 07/08 and the 0-0 draw with Barcelona 4 days later) -
I can't believe that about Thomson tbh. This may seem pretty naive but the boy is teetotal, a fitness freak, and well (almost poshly) spoken. I really don't see him having attitude problems
-
It is by far his best position but implementing it regularly would require playing Boyd as lone striker and dropping Miller, two things that weaken our side

St Johnstone v Vice Champions
Dr Preston Burke replied to Super_Ally's topic in General Football Chat
St Johnstone barely touched the ball in the second half. We really need all our players back as we can't afford to gift them back into the race -
Sunderland have just paid £2 million for Kilgallon of Sheffield United even though he was out of contract in the summer. Most EPL clubs see anything up to perhaps £5 million as peanuts. Plus the main advantage of signing him now would be giving him 4 months to bed into the league before next season. Remember, we are the club who when Marseille refused to pay a fee for Julien Rodriguez (a CL finalist just 18 months earlier) we simply let them take him for free (6 months later he was in the France squad!!) We aren't going to demand a big fee for a player with 6 months left on his contract, rightly or wrongly. Don't think a medical would make much odds either. Cuellar joined Aston Villa with a broken foot and didn't play for 5 weeks.

When have Rangers ever been difficult to deal with over an outgoing transfer in the last ten years? Of course it would be better to keep him but i guess we'll see what happens

That's something i don't want to happen tbh. I actually think £18,000 is too much for any SPL player so i really hope he isn't offered anything more than that by us, even if it does mean he leaves.

"My priority is Rangers. I owe this club almost everything" I fcking love the wee man

It is pretty worrying and i'm not sure just how many young players we could call up and trust to make an impact. Apart from Wilson and Fleck who have been hyped up for years, the other bunch don't seem to be ready. Andy Little is the epitome of this imo; i can't claim to have seen much of him at youth team level but every time he's played for the senior side he has looked hopelessly out of his depth
-
If Boyd is definately going in the summer and Villa (or whoever) offer a small amount of money to take him earlier, i seriously don't imagine us being that difficult to deal with. I'm definately prepared for the worst over this one but i can't begrudge Boydy this move if he feels he needs a new challenge; he's stayed longer than most players have done in the last ten years

I hadn't even considered the possibility that he might leave now. If he tells the club he will be joining Villa, we'd probably accept as little as £250,000 right now if he was definately leaving in the summer anyway. I recall Leeds selling Lee Bowyer to West Ham for £100,000 in exactly the same situation.

Villa would be a bad move in that respect as i don't think he'd be a first choice. Regardless of club, O'Neill has always partnered a goalscorer (Tony Cottee at Leicester/Larsson at Celtic/Agbonlahor at Villa) with a brute of a partner (Heskey/Sutton/Hartson/Carew/Heskey again) Agbonlahor is never dropped and Boyd is certainly not in the Heskey or Carew mould. I think he'd be lucky to start 10 Premiership games all season at Villa.

Of course he loves the club and won't find it easy to leave but i do think this has been overplayed a lot within our support, especially on FF when i used to post on there. I've seen people say things like "offer Kris Boyd any contract and he'll sign it regardless of wages" or "Kris Boyd never wants to play for any club other than Rangers" which struck me as pretty naive to say the least. Yes he turned down a move to Birmingham but Aston Villa is another step up entirely. I'm not hopeful just now

I think a lot of people have been very naive lately thinking that once Boyd was offered a new contract, he would be 100% certain to accept it. Villa can offer him European football, double the wages, and a better league. I'm only about 25% confident he'll stay here.

His predecessor wasn't renowned for being the epitome of maturity either. Big Davie just doesn't like wee neds having a pop

Unbelievable linesman decision...
Dr Preston Burke replied to Frankie's topic in General Football Chat
Crazy decision On the topic of fans language, there was a very audible shout of "he's been f##king shite!" on Sky last night when Thomson was substituted lol -
Kirk: I want to stay at Gers
Dr Preston Burke replied to Rangers Football Club's topic in Rangers Chat
Gers ace linked with move Sheffield Wednesday, 18:51, January 20, 2010 Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with an ambitious swoop to sign Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot. The 25-year-old is due to fall out of contract in the summer but he has yet to agree a deal to stay at Ibrox and there have been suggestions he could move south before the closure of the transfer window. Rangers have offered the right-back fresh terms and it remains to be seen whether the Owls could afford the deal after new boss Alan Irvine was told he has to move players out before he can bring them in. -
Manchester United debt hits £716m
Dr Preston Burke replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Their fans have been singing Malcolm Glazer's Gonna Die at recent games. Things could get very ugly. -
Virtually every winger in the world nowadays plays on the alternate wing at some point every game. If they're kept on their 'proper' wing (i.e. a left footer playing on the left wing) it's mainly so they can beat their marker and whip balls into the box, which wasn't Rothen's strongpoint to say the least. I'm not entirely sure what people think would've happened differently if Rothen had started on the left instead of the right; i mean only last night we moved our right back to the left wing and he scored two goals.
-
The game off will do him good. Walter said pre-season that he'd be rested a lot more frequently this season yet he's only missed 2 games all season. I'm sure a lot of supporters would really love to see Wilson and Bougherra play together but i can't imagine Sir Davie will ever be dropped whilst he's here

Naismith was never worth anywhere close to £2 million. I think he'll end up like Charlie Adam at a mid-table Championship club Of course we're all aware of his best position but he lacks the pace of Miller and the skill of Fleck to really merit playing there
