Transfer Deadline Day Rumour and Movement Thread
Dr Preston Burke replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
So much for three new signings -
Boyd: Thread Updated: Back in full training this week
Dr Preston Burke replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
According to FF, Barry Ferguson told a guy on the train yesterday that Boyd has already signed for Birmingham. Got his photo taken with Barry so it seems pretty koshure(sp?) -
When does the transfer deadline close for us?
Dr Preston Burke replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Davis should be offered a 5 year extension ASAP. I'm worried about the fact he only has 2 years left on his deal and we are very tardy in offering new ones. -
When does the transfer deadline close for us?
Dr Preston Burke replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
I can't wait for that 5 p.m. English deadline so i know Bougie and Davo are staying -
We're linked with the same old defenders every 6 months. Tonel, Stranzl, Shittu. Can't see us signing any defenders until Bougherra has actually gone.

He's starting for City today. Absolutely no chance of this happening.

The Tonel and Stranzl rumours are as old as the hills. We're linked with both of them every transfer window. Same with Petrov; we tried to sign him on loan in the summer but his wage demands were too high. Mancini plays him, Hughes didn't, it aint gonna happen

Walk into the side in place of who? I know McCulloch isn't a popular player amongst many of the fans, but his improvement this season has been immense and i would take him before McArthur any day of the week

We don't need a central midfielder, especially a non-creative one

You make it sound like plucking a total unknown out of thin air and turning them into a superstar is commonplace in football. Just because Arsene or Sir Alex did it once or twice doesn't mean a skint club in a footballing backwater can expect it to happen regularly to them

We sold a centre half for £7.8 million last summer who virtually no one had heard of 12 months earlier I think a lot of people are being negative about this signing because we aren't used to signing players anymore and, thus, they think if do sign someone, they need to be well known and top quality. Rothen anyone?

Mendes - UPDATE: Will join Sporting over next 48 hours
Dr Preston Burke replied to Jim White's topic in Rangers Chat

Mendes - UPDATE: Will join Sporting over next 48 hours
Dr Preston Burke replied to Jim White's topic in Rangers Chat
Personally i think Davis, when played centrally, is far more consistent than Mendes ever was -
Mendes - UPDATE: Will join Sporting over next 48 hours
Dr Preston Burke replied to Jim White's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't think keeping a 20k a week player as backup incase Davis, who has missed just 1 game all season, gets injured makes much financial sense, as much as we'd love to have options in reserve like we did in the Advocaat era. I know a few posters have suggested playing 4-4-2 with Mendes and Davis the CM partnership but in all honesty that was never, ever going to happen. -
Mendes - UPDATE: Will join Sporting over next 48 hours
Dr Preston Burke replied to Jim White's topic in Rangers Chat
Given the lopsidedness of our squad, having 5 central midfielders was always going to be too many. Mendes would no longer have been in my first choice team anyway, and i think Walter may well have thought similar. -
St Mirren 0 - 2 Rangers: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Dr Preston Burke replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Nobody really stood out. Papac never got forward, Broadfoot occasionally did but was incredibly wasteful in possession. Miller was very quiet, Novo totally anonymous until his goal. Davis was by far our brightest player though i wouldn't say MOM material. I'd probably give it to Wilson as we never looked like conceding despite holding onto a 1-0 lead for 84 minutes. -
Fleck refusing contract a misunderstanding apparently...
Dr Preston Burke replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Not paying a price that you think is too high hardly makes it a "debacle" imo -

Carling Cup Semi Man Utd V Man City
Dr Preston Burke replied to Gers4Life's topic in General Football Chat
I'm pretty gutted this game is on the same night as our match as i really would've loved to have seen it -
Celtic have drawn 5 of their last 11 home games in the SPL and Hibs are certainly capable of going there and getting a result. The filth will be buoyed by their second half performance on Sunday though and are definately favourites.

They're taking the piss trying to get him on loan. They may argue he isn't proven at that level but they signed players from Swindon and Rotherham in the summer!
