What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger
wabashcannonball replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I have got to be honest here rbr, it is that way because the vast majority of the fans won't tolerate it being any other way. It would take a very special sort of manager to change that, and they would need the board to back them, unlike with PLG. Change is not something that comes easily to our support. -

The pressure that the club is under to win win win, to finish in front of selik, to win everything, means that the truth is there is no chance of any of our present incumbents giving youth a chance, or even taking the opportunity/risk, whatever you want to call it. -
Trialist coming Krister Wemberg , I thought we weren't going down the trialist route.

I believe you will find that it is GS, who alluded to a deed of covenant. The precise nature of such a deed if it exists, should be very enlightening, as they, in Scotland, are often attached to a mortgage or other deed of payment. Accuracy at all times rbr, accuracy at all times. Deeds of covenant are also vehicles for student and charitable grants, as Walter refers to the Youth Academy in his accounts address and Academies invariably have students, nothing would surprise me less that Minty has exploited another loop hole, quite legally. The second figure of £14 mill plus is interesting, anyone any ideas what it would cover. 3. I am as puzzled as anyone as to what is really going on at the moment, however I expect some definitive information on the thorny question of ownership, with regard to Murray Park and Ibrox itself. It has been said to me previously that in reality Rangers FC has been reduced to no more than a trading arm of Minty's empire, a shell with all former assets being held elsewhere. Murray has however said that we are a stand alone company with no cross ties of any financial nature, I believe that is what he said although I am not 100% certain. If that is indeed what he said, I wonder if it meant no cross ties period, or just nothing of a financial nature. As soon as I have the confirmed standing of the Auchenhowie and Ibrox, and also the land that both stand on, you shall have it Tout de suite. The answer to those questions may answer others. Apparently there may be a deed a covenant for MP, that alone raises its own questions.

What price loyalty, highest bidder ?
wabashcannonball replied to wabashcannonball's topic in Rangers Chat
Heard a story today about big Laffs, nothing bad on his part. I think there may be something in it, allegedly the club is actively touting him about, through the agent system, for wait for it, over £1.5 mill. If that is in fact true, I will be at a total loss as to what is going on the thinking behind it. It would almost be akin to streamlining before looking to punt the club again, but I am the same as everyone else just now, not a clue what the running of the club is all about, we could start with having a full time Chairman. Loyalty has many meanings, depending on who is looking for it. -
Very wrong.

Not what we want to hear, but it appears we cannot avoid it. Any player who might be inclined to waffle about how much Rangers means to him, or how he would never wish to play anywhere else, can be quickly exposed by a glimpse of some pound signs. Even those who regard themselves as “Rangers men” have their price these days. Kris Boyd, Nacho Novo and Kevin Thomson all had their moments when it came to laying it on thick about the thrill of pulling on a blue shirt. When it came down to it, all three of them left because they could earn more dosh somewhere else. http://www.heraldscotland.com/mobile/sport/spl/rangers/financial-reward-represents-greater-incentive-than-loyalty-for-kenny-miller-and-his-rangers-team-mates-1.1041818

Careful now, you are liable to disappear in that intellectual smog that you inhabit, one does expect much better from a mod, you just can't get the staff these days, incidentally the subject matter was and is Rangers, not battering weans or society in general... you have a pleasant night now... -

Tradition is what makes the history of anything special, to those who hold those traditions and values at the very core of that which they hold so dear, it saddens me to see tradition and respect dying on a daily basis, but there again I was lucky enough to experience that sense of history and tradition through Mr Struth and Mr Symon. The eagle has flown, question is, has it flown away...... http://www.rangers.co.uk/articles/20100714/eagles-in-gers-talks_2254024_2092454 -

No player at Rangers, during the Struth era, ever doubted who the boss was, William Struth was a strict disciplinarian, and a man, who believed firmly in respect for authority. To the dismay of many players, he demanded they wear a suit, collar, tie and bowler hats to training, instead of the common cloth cap. He believed that this gave the players the mentality, that they were important, and that they were part of something above simple entertainment. His obsession with the dress code, also extended into the dressing room. The importance of freshly washed and Ironed jerseys, along spotless white shorts, and correctly dimensioned stocking tops, were held in high regard. It is noticeable in 20's and 30's, that when ever Rangers took the field, all the players had their socks pulled up, and their jerseys tucked in to their shorts. This smart professional appearance and attitude was demanded from Struth, for when his Rangers team took to the field, they did so not only as ambassadors of Rangers, but also of Bill Struth himself. Another part of the Struth legend has it, that the manager, would watch from the window of his house, at 193 Copland Road, as the players arrived on the underground for training. Anyone, who had dared to walk down the street, committing the serious crimes in his eyes, of having his hands in his pockets, or not wearing their bowler hat, would find that Mr Struth, had seen him, and had telephoned the ground, to insist that he walk down the street again, this time with his hands, by his sides, and their hat on their head.If the players, were willing to accept the strict code of discipline, laid down by Struth, there where many privileges for them. They had the best of everything, restaurants, hotels, theatre and cinema seats, and Struth always insisted, that his teams traveled first class. Through this treatment, Struth made his players feel they were inferior to no one, and Bill Struth in one of his immaculate 3 piece tailored suit's, was at the very forefront of them. Any player however, who fell short of what Struth expected, felt the chill of being told, that his presence, was required up the marble staircase, in the manager's office. The real Rangers way, second to none, and iron discipline. http://bighun1.com/managers/billstruth.html -

I saw him at Watford head down no vision, much like Fleck, hopefully Fleck will learn to get his head up, also saw him at Burnley, where he appeared to have not improved one iota, six games for Man U tells that story. Has a rep as a big time charlie, however he deserves a chance same as everyone, he cannot possibly be worse than our last signing from Burnley. -

His arse widny have touched the marble if Struth had seen him turn up like a tink, how standards have slipped...
