  1. Gerrard should have got a pen but had to go and dive again later. He's one of the most prolific divers in the premiership. It's become a part of his style, he dives into anything whether its a challenge or to win a foul. Still a quality player of course but give me Super Frank at Stamford Bridge any day.
  2. 2 years of success and countless years of 100% failure.
  3. Yes it is, do you want me to break it down for you or are you capable of working it out yourself? Be a clever boy now. You can do it
  4. Yes, bringing up religious intolerance in a topic about religious intolerance is an awfully strange thing to do...
  5. There's many forms of organised religion I disagree with but I wouldn't promote singing about any specific person associated with them. Preaching religious intolerance is actually a crime in this country, whether it's right or wrong.
  6. I forgot he's already played in the premiership although that was for a very dodgy Charlton side. He might do better at a better side, who knows. As for a fee, I reckon we'd have got £4-6 before the whole economic situation and telling the press that everyone was up for sale. Now? Probably about 2-3m... We've told the world we're basically a car boot sale so don't expect any decent bids.
  7. Anyone with half a brain in modern society can see religions such as catholism for what they are. The *** nonsense is not good for the club though. I really cringe. If we're involved in any more controversy UEFA are going to hammer us soon or later and fans chanting songs they're told not to sing does us no good. At the same time though, it annoys me that its us that are targeted. Aberdeen fans are IMO the worst in Scottish football and seem to get no abuse for it.
  8. He is 20 though. We've got near 22 year olds on 1 appearance! I predict this signing will be terrible though. How many Asians have actually made much of an impact in British or even European football?
  9. The British comparison includes Blackburn Rovers who had a humiliating campaign in the CL in 95/96 yet still amassed double our points total. See, we can all play the pedantic shit stirrer game.
  10. Not sure how he'd do. Cuellar's a much better player and it took him quite a while to find his feet in the EPL although he's now a crucial part of a very strong Villa side. Bougherra hasn't really been properly tested. Cuellar carried us to the final of the UEFA cup. You can now see how vital he was. We can't just rely on our defence anymore.
  11. You should get a job as a Labour spin doctor or something. If Rangers were relegated you'd try and come up with some bullshit excuse that nobody is interested in reading.
  12. Pretty much the whole squad minus Wilson and maybe McGregor. Can't really fault Boyd's domestic goals either. /topic PS - You thought Miller was the perfect man to lead us in attack to replace Cousin? Had you seen him play before? It's quite amusing watching a player take about 17 touches to get control of the ball before it bounces out of play. Never had a player looked so out of depth in the champions league. A very erratic player who for every good performance puts in 5 terrible ones. But hey, he runs around a lot and that seems to keep Scottish football fans happy.
  13. Not really true. The premiership has become a much more cautious league in recent years with a much more defensive approach. And even supposing, the defences are far, far superior. Much of the defenders playing here are slow as hell and have no ability at all. In the premiership he'd be coming up against proper athletes. It's not about how deep you defend, it's about how well you do it. Strikers in the premiership have to actually really work to win the ball. It's not like at Ibrox against sides like Kilmarnock where he can basically just sit in the box and get countless chances. It's no surprise that there's hardly any interest coming from the premiership. If Boyd had any technical ability, sides like Tottenham, Everton etc would be all over him given his goal record. The fact that Boyd scores the vast majority of his goals at home to the bottom 6 is very relevant. There's far better strikers than Boyd who struggle to hit double figures in the premiership.
  14. He's just scored his first league goal of the season and as an attacker that's not good enough. We aren't in any position to accomadate squad players anymore. If Kenny Miller gets a game ahead of you up front then you know you're in the wrong game. My only gripe is that Novo didn't get more of a shot through the middle. I think the constant position changes and being in and out of the side has ruined him. He can still make an impact from the bench but this is a player who twice almost his 30 goals in a season. He looked a real quality player beside Prso but then again a player of that quality is going to bring the best out of his team mates. Prso was on another planet from Boyd and co. He's yet another decent(ish) striker at Ibrox who's found himself more often than not on the left or right of a midfield 4 to little benefit. His finishing seems to get more and more erratic as the years go by. Got all the effort in the world but we need more. I don't personally subscribe to the whole Nacho love in. He was a fairly good player but it seems the fact he's scored a few goals against Celtic and rejected them has clouded judgement. If he was to leave the club he'd probably end up in some low division somewhere and that's not the standard we require to become a force again. Need to get rid of the dead wood.
  15. I think an upper championship team would suit Boyd, he'd probably do an ok job there. He'd be terrible in the premiership though where he'd get much less time and space and be up against far superior defenders. Fenerbahce? As I said before, they're clearly just looking at the SPL goal charts because he'd bomb there.
  16. Give credit to a man who for years has commanded an astronomical wage for fuck all work? Not on my watch. How this man has held onto his position for so long is anyones guess. He's just doing his job here for once.
  17. McLeish will maybe be a great manager? You seriously are clueless Folk on here have very short memories to look back on the ginger half-wit in any positive light. Since Eck's left he failed to get Scotland qualified with an embarrassing defeat to Georgia proving crucial and got Birmingham relegated so get a grip.
  18. Totti

    This year's C/L

There's quite a gap between defending a high line and standing right in front of the 18 yard line the whole game. Somewhere in between would be ideal...
  19. Fc Zurich got more points than us this year ffs and had a harder group. WS will leave Rangers with a huge shadow over his legacy. He's been exposed.
  20. I don't really want Smith or McCoist to have anything more to do with managing the club. We put far too much stock in keeping managers. It's not working so change it. There's clubs all over the world in a bad state financially. We need to adapt as a football club and become progressive. Change is good.
  21. With the level of teams we play in the SPL it really wouldn't take a genius to get us beating these teams comfortably. Teams like St Johnston are assembled with players barely fit for professional level. Most of this league is barely better than much of League 2/Conference. Kevin Kyle for example was a mediocre player in the lower divisions in England, now he's one of the best players in the SPL.
  22. He did great in his first couple of seasons, anyone will say that. He was utter dirge thereafter. One of the main things that annoyed me was the fact he'd persist with players in the wrong position. Lovenkrands and Arveladze are two decent strikers (particularly Arveladze) who wasted much of their Ibrox careers at left midfield. There are a lot of similarities with Eck and Smith.
  23. Larsson beat players all the time. Raul and Ruud in their day went past plenty players as well. I'm not talking about dribbling, I'm just talking about the ability to take the ball, get past a player and hit a shot. Not skip past endless players doing stepovers. Any half decent striker should be capable of doing it but Boyd doesn't have the technique or agility. As I've said Boyd's great against poor teams and should be kept but against any decent defender he's useless. PS - Zlatan Ibrahimovich is an out and out striker. He plays the main striker in a front 3 for Barca. One good example of a successful striker with pretty much no technical skill is Flippo Inzaghi. As Ferguson said 'born in an offside position'. His football skills are almost as dodgy as Boyds. Difference is Inzaghi is world class and will find space against any opposition.
  24. Most strikers can't take on players? Like who out of the 'very top ones'? Daniel Cousin was no Drogba but he was capable of beating a man and shooting. We could do with a player like that in attack. Good enough for Europe unlike Boyd or Miller.
  25. Watterus was shaky as hell, Buffel was nothing special and Kygriakos did OK. Each to their own. And Birmingham were the biggest club in the championship last season, whatever way you look at it. I can't really be bothered continuing to argue about Eck because anyone with half a brain will remember how inept he was by the end.
