  1. You think no other manager could have out witted the Lurgan Bigot at Ibrox today, rbr? People give Wattie a little too much credit considering the amount of times he's been embarrassed by shite football teams. Strange times at Ibrox. We know we're shit yet everyone seems content. If an Italian club of our stature was so inept the fans would be marching down the streets in protest
  2. It's not effort we're lacking it's ability. And McCulloch made a couple of strong challenges and that was it. To think some people thought Hemdani was a poor holding player
  3. McCulloch is bloody dire, I said that before we signed him. Was shocked we paid so much for him. Just because he played fairly regularly for Wigan doesn't mean anything. Gary Caldwell is Wigans captain and I wouldn't want him anywhere near Ibrox
  4. If they hadn't been hit with injuries to all their key players it would probably be the other way round - they'd be miles ahead of Man Utd. Up until a couple of months ago they were the best team in England by a mile and easily one of the top 5 in the world. They hit horrendous form and Ancelotti is lucky to still be manager. Despite the injuries their results and performances have been inexcusable. Ancelloti is certainly a good manager but his aging Milan side got really poor and I was surprised Chelsea appointed him. At least today Chelsea had some passion and drive and looked a bit like their usual self on attack. In Ancelotti's defence, money needs spent and the squad is small. I think it's time for a new man in charge and I hope a big name is appointed instead of one of Roman's old pals.
  5. Well what is plan A exactly? Keep it tight at the back and punt the ball to Miller?
  6. That certainly would be a start. We seem to switch between 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 so much not to mention the slightly embarrassing 5-4-1 that the players themselves dont know whats going on. And in those formations players like Whittaker, Weiss, Naismith, Lafferty and Davis get shifted around all over the park. Whittaker is particularly frustraing, he is no doubt a very talented player technically but he's becoming a jack of all trades master of none by constantly playing on either side of defence or midfield. John Fleck is another - a couple of years ago he was deemed the future of Scottish football and a classic number 10 just off the striker type player yet has played all over midfield I think I prefer Wattie playing 4-4-2 because there's less room for Wattie to fuck things up. Though it still doesn't stop him playing people out of position on the flanks or the ill fated '2 big guys up front' which he occasionally does and is something that has possibly never worked in the history of modern football.
  7. Another thing annoying me, and I've said this on here many times, is we've several young players who look quite decent but they play one game then don't play for a while. If we can properly integrate these guys into the first team suddenly our squad won't be so small and when the older players get injured we won't just be throwing in random kids hoping to plug the gaps. I don't see the point in playing the odd youngster, then randomly dropping him and picking another. When are they going to develop into first team players? If one young player plays well keep him involved in the first team for the next game. The young guys seem to get no reward for playing well. I would be getting these young guys starting games and certainly coming on as subs, particularly when we are comfortably in front. Walter should not be afraid to rotate his lineup, it will work better in the long run. I could tell you very little about our young guys because every time they play it seems like they're making their debut. This is something thats annoyed me for a long time - I remember under Eck when Celtic had already won the league and we were guaranteed second place we still played a full strength team. Baffling. Here's hoping that Ally McCoist is somehow progressive in thinking and has a more modern and conventional approach to the game but I doubt it somewhat. It's a shame the PLG thing worked out as it did because the foreign approach to football is much more advanced. There are far more top coaches abroad.
  8. Today we have been outplayed by the worst Celtic side in living memory, plus they are not at full strength. Earlier this season it looked like both us and our manager had maybe turned a corner. Better football seemed to be on offer after the previous years of often dour football and we appeared to attack with a bit of spark. Now though all I think happened was Naismith hit immense form and carried us through games, with Miller scoring a lot too. Today with no Naismith its a return of horrible football, long balls, no creativity, not passing. Nothing. If Walter was the genius you all call him (when things are going well I might add) he would not be losing 2-0 at home to a team as poor as this. And before anyone says it's just one game, countless European clubs showed him up over the years. Walter will leave Rangers in much a similar state as the first time round - few real decent assets and a squad in dire need of being rebuilt. Walter will go down as a Rangers legend but a managerial genius? Nah. Decent organiser and little more. I would like to see how Wattie would have faired against MONs Celtic because Wattie has had the advantage of being against pish Celtic sides for much of both spells
  9. In that '5 good mins' at Ipswich he took them to the premiership, finished 5th there and got them into Europe. A limited manager could not do that. I'm not saying he's a great manager but he's obviously got something there and he needs to find the right club. The English lower leagues can be quite a hard place to succeed with limited money.
  10. You think? If he stayed at Hearts I honestly think they might have won the league. On a shoestring budget he made Hearts better than us.
  11. More nonsense from the Riddler eh ? Football has a past, present and a future.
  12. Anderton averaged 30 games a season for spurs fyi. Injury problems or no injury problems Celtic are being linked with decent players and we get linked with pish. Journalist don't even bother linking us to any big name cos they know nobody would believe it.
  13. Obviously I'm talking about contemporary football matters and not historical.
  14. There's not much between the vast majority of the premiership. Varying shades of mediocrity.
  15. I thought Eck had turned the corner and actually become a decent manager but no it's the same old clueless half-wit. He shouldn't stay anywhere more than a couple of seasons because he makes teams horrendously shit
  16. I'm not sure if he'll start. In these games as gaz said he prefers experience even at the expense of superior players and the midfield is usually based around strength and defence rather than technique and attack Lafferty will likely start at left mid and will put in his millionth shite performance in that position.
  17. 18-25 year olds are probably the most informed football fans
  18. Agree with that. Not good enough for the EPL any more but we've seen many decent old players come to the SPL and walk it. If he's fit enough, he's the type of player we should have looked at.
  19. We will beat them then draw or lose our next game
  20. He doesn't have a clue. May well be a good manager one day but you need to learn your trade at a lower level or get a job as a coach first then work up to manager
  21. Lafferty earns more than Miller? Christ, what a terrible signing Lafferty was if thats true. Bad enough we got raped on the transfer fee without factoring in wages.
  22. How did he bring it on himself? What a load of nonsense. Considering what Boruc and Lennon got away with in terms of causing trouble on the pitch...
  23. I agree with whats been said so far and I also fail to see anything 'ambitious' about trying to sign a former player who's all round ability was questionable and who is struggling at the wrong end of the championship.
  24. Has been poor for 2 or 3 years now but might still walk the league here. Ginger bigots being linked with some big names, albeit ones largely with their best years behind them. We'll see how their squad ends up looking soon, it's certainly not great just now. He needs a lot more than just old premiership players to save his bacon. At least he seems to have some money to spend unlike us
  25. Thinking back to Negri, I think this league is similar to other mediocre leagues like the Dutch league where any half decent striker at a big club can rattle in near a goal a game domestically. Look how poor Boyd is in England
