  1. How many our of SPL signings in the past 10 years have been particularly good ones? Playing well at Dundee United is one thing, old firm is another.
  2. Bang on. And of course contract dealings, this sort of thing has happened before. Did Dodgy Dave not openly say a while back its the clubs policy to only offer new deals when there's a short period left? Sasa Papac has 6 months left and still hasn't signed a contract and wasn't even offered one until recently, something he openly spoke out about. He could have told the club to fuck off and he still could do that. He's proven to be a solid defender in the champions league and is easily worth 2-3 million (would be worth more at another club).
  3. A year or so ago we had Boyd and Miller, a good partnership, playing very well and linking well together. Who would have thought two of our best performing first team players would be gone for practically nothing? It is hard to imagine what price the pair were worth, but combined you would have to say they were worth 5-6m+ and maybe considerably more. I would hazard a guess that Boyd could have generated 4-5 million (when he had more time on his contract remaining), considering interest from England. Then considering Miller performing at a bigger club, he surely would have been worth at least 2 or 3 million. Of course, often our players are worth poultry sums so it is hard to gauge things. Unless we have 100% standout top performing players like Boumsong, Hutton, Cuellar etc, our players seem to be worth peanuts. Then you have to look at the sales of Charlie Adam and Barry Ferguson, both leaving for nominal fees. Granted, both were not performing at Ibrox but questions have to be asked when two of the top performing midfielders in the premiership this season played for us recently yet little money changed hands. That might not be entirely Bain's fault - both appeared to have little to offer by the end of their times at Ibrox. Walter Smith has to be held accountable for sure. Why do two players who looked rubbish against teams like Hamilton go two pretty average teams in England and shine? Both have been man of the match at least more than once this season, with Charlie seemingly winning it or getting close near every other game he plays. Is it any wonder the bank are coming down so hard on a club so inept at running things? Key players should be tied down with 18 months or 12 months at the latest remaining on contracts. Failure to negotiate a deal should result in the player being sold. This is how other successful clubs would conduct business. Maybe the banks involvement makes increased and longer contracts difficult but it is the club that got us in this mess in the first place. The club think that by offering deals at the last minute they don't have to get tied to overly long contracts or increased wages. Well in the process we have lost 2 strikers that both cost a considerable sum and should have been sold for considerable profit. Buy for a dime, sell for a nickle, that's the Rangers way. I wonder what the average amount of money we generate is for the players that leave Ibrox - not a lot I'd guess.
  4. That's the Rangers way. Buy for a dime sell for a nickle
  5. Even if we're debt free what would that mean? How many teams in Europe are debt free? Debt is normal and whether we have it or don't I don't see much changing. We have owners unwilling to invest anything in the club and nobody is interested in us. And even if we got 'debt free', with the current regime we'd quickly get in debt again
  6. With Jelavic, a far superior player, back we don't need him. Play Naismith and Jelavic in attack, the only issue being we would lose Naismith's creativity from midfield. I'd like to see Jelavic through the middle with Naismith and Weiss supporting, I'll sing for that though
  7. To put it concisely, we're doomed. Supporting Rangers is more of a hobby or even chore than a passion for me now. My entire life used to be this club
  8. Questions have to be asked when a player who rarely put in a good performance goes to a higher level and virtually never has a single poor one. Looking at the official premier league stats he's been rated as one of the top 3 players in nearly every epl game he's started this season
  9. See the post above that one. Particularly relevant is how poor the movement in our final third used to be and still can be. If Adam had a run of games in the middle of the park and a player like Naismith (in his current form) creating movement in attack things might have been different.
  10. No the difference is his passes and shots are reaching their targets there, again see my post above. Adam constantly played long balls that went high and wide of any target. He is totally different now to what he was, a whole new player. At us he was often rancid where as at Blackpool he is regularly the best player on the park even again strong opposition.
  11. He was terrible at us more times than not and often lost possession, far more than Mendes did. Playing out of position and with a manager who couldn't get anything out of him didn't help
  12. Other than a goal and a shot I didn't really see McCulloch doing much
  13. Blackpool rejected £5m for him in the summer, he's worth more than that but the only reason he's getting low offers is he has fallen out with Blackpool. And he was gash for us but we should still be getting more than such a poultry some for players in our first team squad. Christ, if Charlie Adam played for Hibs they wouldn't have sold him for 500k
  14. Did I say that? I believe I mentioned one of the teams you listed. And in my original post I said we would be one of the lowest spending teams in the CL, not the lowest. It's not complicated.
  15. I've lived in Aberdeen all my life and I've never seen so many bigoted football fans. They really hate us
  16. When you see us linked with dross like John Ranking though it's not really so bad...
  17. Surely selling Charlie Adam for 500k and now seeing him worth at least 5 million further shows how pish we are at selling players. I bet Celtic would have easily got a million or 2 for him
  18. We bought Davis who wasn't getting a game in England. Adam has been one of the top performing players in the championship and now the premiership 2 years running.
  19. It makes them premiership mugs that spend the same money on any decent player
  20. Said it on here countless times, the main problem here isn't the size of the league its simply the abysmal quality of talent in the SPL. If Scotland produced good footballers and/or attracted superior foreign talent, we wouldn't be so deeply in the shit. IF the old firm were as good as they were 10 years ago we would be a more attractive proposition for tv deals. The old firm isn't that interesting a match anymore
  21. Why should they? They aren't a charity. They know they're dealing with clueless mugs and will get for cheapest price possible.
  22. If he's prepared to sit on the bench I couldn't really care, we're beyond having any pride. But I'd be worried Walter would be inclined to play Boyd and Jelavic up front together, the dreaded epic fail two big man partnership that we're seeing once again in fine viewing tonight with Beattie unable to move.
  23. We're run inefficiently. We probably spend lavishly on needless things then end up being so skint we have to loan players that don't get a game for Aberdeen just to have enough players to fill our bench Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck about match day entertainment. Give me 11 good players before we worry about that
