I still don't see where you are coming from. Why do we have any reason to not think he's been sold for the suggested figure? If we'd sold him for more we'd be quick to say so because we look stupid

Why do people keep saying we got 400k? Because that is the widely quoted figure and we can only base our opinions on the information made available to us. What is there to suggest we got any more?

That's the type of formation we should play

Edu is 25 soon ffs and more than capable of playing against Hearts. IF he can go to a world cup he can play a mediocre side like them (and that's what they are, despite being one of the best spl sides)
-
Yes the real problem is quality the rest is semantics. But a 10 team league is just a joke. Aside from anything else it's boring and our league is boring enough as it is
-
Surely it makes more sense to compare leagues of similar quality. The ROI and Georgian leagues are little better than sunday amature leagues. How many of those leagues listed have clubs as big as the old firm? And aside from Denmark all those leagues are ranked much worse...

Charlie Adam was hounded because he was absolutely pish at us 90% of the time. His performances since at a higher level show he is actually a very talented footballer. But that talent was no displayed here, largely I imagine due to the manager and team mates, so it is irrelevant really. Same with Barry Ferguson, he was almost equally rotten towards the end of his Rangers career but has since proven to still be a top player
-
Can't disagree with much of that, I like that side, a much more solid midfield
-
I'm comparing because they are both big out and out strikers. 2 big strikers never works, surely you know this? No two ways about it, it just doen't work. Lafferty and Jelavic are both players who play similar roles and would be horrific together

I like that team, other than the fact that for a game you fear so much, you've left the side pretty vulnerable in the midfield area. One holding player and three attack minded midfielders in a 4-4-2 runs the risk of losing the midfield battle. A better idea would be two holding or more defensive minded central midfielders then two attacking players out wide. That side would be fine at Ibrox against most but this is one of our most difficult games of the season (even though Hearts are no great shakes). I do like the front partnership combination - I fear it will be Lafferty and Jelavic though and if we play that we have little chance of winning
-
I don't think he does have any opportunity because Jelavic will be our main striker. He'll probably play more often than not on the left wing to no effect or occasionally beside Jelavic with the same outcome. Easily Walters worst signing, a huge sum for us. Factor in the cost of the transfer and what we'll have paid on wages and it's no wonder we're a mess financially. Maybe if Walter spent more wisely he wouldn't have had to go two years with no signings.
-
Yeah I'm not saying two up front can't work, just that they need to be two different strikers, or more to the point one a striker and another a second striker/deep lying forward. Ideally I'd like to see us playing 4-3-3 too, it has become the default formation in Europe in recent years. 4-4-2 has made a bit of a comeback at times though, Spurs, Man Utd etc often play it to good effect.
-
Something telling about our youth players is I really don't know much about any of them other than Fleck and Ness. They appear, often do well then you never hear from them again. Even Ness, I'd struggle to think what he looks like properly/
-
Well who cares he's gone and both Jelavic and Naismith are ten times better

It's just about being sensible, something we rarely do. Bring the youngsters on when we're comfortably in front. Introduce them slowly, not too many at a time etc. It's starting to happen this season but only out of necessity. Something else we should do is play youngsters in position we need to fill instead of playing senior players out of position. 18/19 is the age players should be getting into the first team. To have almost 23 year olds with near no first team experience on our books is ignorant.
-
Rory Loy is 23 in a couple of months! Did he score a single goal for St Mirren? Dunno why he's still on our books he's clearly awful
-
He's older which decreases value and the contract he originally got was more than his ability at that point merited.

BTW - Regarding me being offered a higher salary, if I was as rich as Miller and getting paid as much and was doing well in my job, I would see little reason to move. The only way is down from here. He won't be like Charlie Adam or Barry Ferguson because he lacks their technique to play at a higher level.

Particularly in this country. There's still a lot of honour, loyalty and passion on the continent. Cristiano Lucarellii and Jose Exteberria at points played for free in their careers out of respect for their clubs.

No we shouldn't be offering him that much more, he isn't worth much more. And yes I'd prefer it if he did tell the press the truth, the fans get fuck all truth out of Ibrox so time to hear whats really going onl

Fleck on the left of a midfield 4 doesn't work because it's not his position. There's a difference between playing wide of a 3 and wide of a 4 and I'm sure he could play wide in a front 3 fine. But I agree with most of what you say other than Naismith being in the centre. Why is that? The last thing we want is Naismith losing his rhythm due to being played in strange positions. Naismith must play wide or supporting in attack. I think one of the reasons it took Naismith so long to settle at Ibrox was because he wasn't given a run of games in his proper position and was basically a utility man. He is now equally comfortable out wide or in attack now

I think the final piece of the jigsaw would have been the Flo signing, still can't believe we spent £12m. Whilst he was a decent player we needed much better for that money and unfortunately we didn't get one of the other targets like Raul Tamudo or Van Nistelrooy. Why did we not sign Tamudo? We agreed a transfer? Edit - Just checked and he failed a medical. Ironically two days later he scored a hatrick in the UEFA Cup and went on to becoming Espanyol's all time highest scorer. You couldn't make it up! Anyway Mols was terrific in his first stint. Wasn't the same player after and became a shadow of his former self but still a legend

He is rubbish on the left, yet keeps playing there. He can't dribble. He is rubbish more often than not in attack but again isn't helped by being played with the wrong partner. I'll be saying this till I'm blue in the face but big striker + big striker does not work. I don't rate Lafferty whatsoever but he's not being used properly. Hopefully our attack will now be Jelavic + Naismith/Fleck and Lafferty can be (expensive) backup for Jelavic I have a very bad feeling knowing Walter we're going to play Lafferty and Jelavic together in attack, they will have no chemistry whatsoever as they'll both be doing the same role and we'll lose the campaign with everyone thinking the missing Kenny Miller is the reason
