Club Statement: Douglas Park steps down as chairman

I'd probably still want us to be sustainable or at least breaking even or close to over the next 3 or 4 seasons before we were to look for a buyer. That probably looks like qualifying for the ucl a couple of times and a couple of good uel runs which is doable for this team imo and by the end of this timeframe our coefficient would be a lot healthier, hypothetically. I might be a season or two early with that point though. I know it's happy clapping but I've got time for this board, although I fully understand wanting owners with deeper pockets but that's pointless if it's unsustainable and they're bent. The dream is a self-made billionaire from Govan but idk how many of those are knocking about haha. -
Rangers and SPFL heading for ‘nuclear’ SECOND sponsorship row
yuddie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
All for rinsing the SPFL/SFA (what's the difference these days?). I still would have liked it if we'd of dragged them through the mud on the TV deal but hopefully this sponsorship agro is the thin end of a bigger wedge, so to speak. Like Bill said, good to see the club, and board tbf, showing some fight. Probably because it's within their own individual financial interests right enough. -
Match Thread [FT] Rangers 2 (Tillman 38', 55') - 0 Dundee Utd
yuddie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Looks like I'm in the minority but considering we we're up against a back 6, 3 man midfield and an Andy Carroll ordered off wish which were all camped inside their last third I'll take that performance and result every day of the week. Saw a lot worse home performances when we won 55 by the way. Tillman needs bought though, we just can't pass up a lad at his age with that potential for what? 6m? Not arsed if we're stocked with 10's, the kid oozes class. My Motm. -

XI for tomorrow: McGregor Tav Goldson Davies Yilmaz* (*been with us all week + a routine home game). Jack Lundstram Cantwell Tillman Kent (interchangeable, especially cantwell and Tillman). Colak I'd take a solid 2-0 win after a break, just hope to see a faster tempo than usual home games tomorrow. -
Anyone watching the game tonight? Fairly decent start, need a bit more substance though.

Watched the England game. Probably their first decent away win of note since they beat Spain a few years back, unsure if that was competitive or not. Impressive for 20-30 then did okay against an Italy side that looks like its on the wane, even if their home record in euro qualifiers is outstanding and England's record in Italy is 'pish'. To be honest until England start winning games like this away from home regularly they won't have actually turned a corner and I'll view them as the flat track bullies they are under Southgate (and previous). Still, good win.

Agree with most with Cantwell. Seems a bit of a throwback in how he's brilliant in the last third without getting the numbers he deserves. Like a McCann or a Cooper. Early days ha. Tillman was devastating off the bench as well.

I think generally the UB's are a good thing for the club but I can't help thinking that an unspoken reason for why they're protesting is down to not spending enough. Go on social media and it's all the football twitter accounts care about. Look at FSG at Liverpool. Probably the most successful club in Europe over the last few years that isn't a state funded project or institution synonymous and entrenched within a country I.e Bayern or Real. They're doing it sustainably as well, but because they haven't signed Mbappe fans are going mad. I agree with Eck on his reaction, probably ott. Wilson hasn't had a good few windows but let's not condemn him. And lets face it, Celtic are sh*t hot at the minute; whether people like to admit it or not, they've got Scottish football on toast and thats probably another reason why the UB have the bed sheets out.

Can't complain at 3 points and 4 goals away from home to be fair. I know we had chances but I think not scoring with them down to 10 is an indictment of this team over the past couple of seasons. That mentality to be ruthless needs to be shifted. I back Beale though, if he can break the back of the Old Firm fixtures then we're onto a winner. Motm Todd Cantwell for me, Tillman was mustard when he came on as well.

I thought Ben Davies had a gg, mopped up well and won a few tackles, passing was fine from what I remember. Seems to be a decent sweeper next to Goldson even if he hasn't got a lot of pace, which is probably a good sign to be fair.

The draw I wanted to be honest. Problem I had with the LC Final was that we set out to contain them and got beat wondering what if with the selection and tactics. Hopefully we go at them and stop being so passive. Few more weeks with Raskin and Cantwell playing together, minutes for Ridvan and a few goals for Colak and I'll be quietly confident, which is exhausting with this Rangers side.

Aye fair point, if the wins keep coming then who's arsed ha. I still think taking 4 touches and rolling a slow ball back to the centre halves to roll out to a full back to receive it back isn't as effective as one and two touch in the same movement. Fully believe that Beale has us on our way though, we've cracked the away performances and results. Hopefully he can get Ibrox purring with the football soon as well.
-
Take that considering Raith were packing their box out. Like others have said it's good to see Ridvan and Souttar as well to be fair. Heard Beale say we need to be more patient when playing at ibrox but I don't see why we can't still press and harry and play with a quick tempo, I just dont see the slower, patient build up being conjusive to breaking teams down. Maybe I'm reading too much into it because he has delivered results so far (bar choking the final). MOTM Davies for me, mopped up and won his tackles I thought.

Haha no mate, my dad was 2para in the Falklands war and I try to raise awareness of the conflict even if its just having it in my profile. He's a great man. Hopefully I'll go to the islands at some point to see what he was up against. And aye, got a lot of time for Fashion.

New to the forum, followed the podcast for a few years and thought I'd join. Sorry it took awhile! Sakala's on his way to 20 g/a in the league which is some going considering he was bombed out until Beale came in. He's clumsy and erratic game in game out but also produces moments of magic and gets the numbers which make it worthwhile keeping him. I'd actually go as far to say in terms of the player trading model and building title winning squads getting players like Sakala on a free is essential; for profit and for depth, if he can get 20 g/a a season in rotation then we're laughing. Plus I love the guys attitude and there's something endearing about a player who's that raw but contributes. Yud
