Match Thread [FT] Rangers 2 (Tavernier 6pen; Dessers 15) - 1 Servette

Anyone got the final potential opponents for the qualifiers? I'll link the bbc sport article on it but it's not particularly expansive, haven't found anything better yet. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65468697 -
Ref had a shocker. Not arsed who out of the two won, if I had to choose I'd say County just because their pitch is in good nick.

That's as good a confirmation as you're going to get from Ornstein. We've got to anticipate that they won't miss a beat. Article may be behind a paywall, if it is apologies. -

To be fair didn't we buy Ryan Kent for 6.5m+ add ons ? When we were definitely less well off. If there's going to be a time to do it, it's in a summer requiring a significant rebuild. I suppose if we shift Colak and Kamara that's a fair chunk of it paid off already. -

Oh yeah I like his profile, physically and what he's put down over the last few seasons. It's interesting if we do bite the bullet on this, it's a signal of intent from the new board which the fans would back. If he scores goals that gets us to the UCL and a league title it's brilliant business, if not then it's a lot. Just got to trust the manager and staff doing their due diligence. -

Villareal have apparently had an £8.5m pound bid rejected for Haji Wright. For £7m it's a goer I think, £8.5m+ is looking a bit too much. Quoted from the Daily Record so unsure how accurate. -

Seen Maja and Butland mentioned a lot now that they've both finished the season. Both would be good signings but I would still like a marquee forward if Maja did come in. -
Mine came through this afternoon as well. General query: I use a mates season ticket to go to games when he can't/doesn't want to go..which is maybe 7 or 8 a season. Would I also get points if he put it on seatsub when I go to the match? Been trying to find out but with no luck, if so I'd do it because it suits all parties. If not it needs sorted because it's just ringfencing the support. Cheers

Ross Stewart another one, unsure if he's signed an extension at Sunderland. If he hasn't then we should look into that. -

That's fair but it's a case in point, if not Nisbet then Shankland and so on... I know it's a redundant Rangers Da shout but if they're knocking in 20 goals for f***ing Hibs and Hearts they can do a turn as an option for us. -

If the above links with Colak away are true I'd reinvest in Nisbet tbh, if he's going to Millwall for what? 1.2-1.5m? We'd recoup that from Colak and still be able to buy a marquee Striker and/or a bosman I.e Maja etc especially with Roofes injury record. Fully aware he won't be leading the line as our focal point but 20 starts in a 60 game season is fine, we need to build a squad we can trust. -

I'd move it if I could, sorry lads. My mistake. -
Firstly, forgive me for posting Celtic content on a Rangers forum. Apologies. Secondly, what are your guys thoughts and where do you stand on the strong links of Postecoglou being away? I think we can all be honest and say we'd want it to happen so we can capitalise like they did with us. Anyways, here's the link to Scott Brown being the frontrunner, I had to post this because I was laughing in disbelief when I saw it on my twitter feed. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/10765530/celtic-scott-brown-new-favourite-replace-ange-postecoglou/amp/ Cheers

Sterling, Dowell, Butland and links to Hagi Wright and others, definitely looks like Beale's making us a bigger more physical team. One thing about the UCL campaign was how small we looked, same as last seasons pre season friendlies or the one before where we played West Ham and Spurs.. they towered over us. Slavia Praha the same. -
For me it's between Tavernier and Sakala, I've went for Sakala. Really these two players have carried us since Beale has come in and whilst Fashion can be infuriating it's him and the new signings who are the only one's who've actually looked like they enjoy playing for Rangers and graft like it's a privilege. If Fashion go's he'll go with my thanks, was always a thrill/rollercoaster watching him play!

Fab Romano tweeting about Butland, probably his 6th 'here we go!' on the deal already. Suppose he's got to speculate to accumulate. Wish the club had a tierlist of journos in terms of reliability and weight of word. I've seen it with prem clubs down south. Unless they do and I just haven't seen it. -

Hahaha it is mad season. Geniunely though, let's say Leicester are willing to cut their losses on Daka due to relegation and poor form and we negotiate an option to buy of 9m rising to 12m with add ons after a year on loan it almost sound doable. Buy Nisbet in the meantime. These rumours make you think anythings possible ffs. Not sure if anyone's said anything about the latest Butland update but he supposedly spoke to the club on Tuesday and looks set to join after their cup final, I'll post the link: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12141189/Crystal-Palace-goalkeeper-Jack-Butland-edges-nearer-joining-Rangers.html -

Has anyone seen any of the links with Patson Daka or is it all taking the piss? £23m to Leicester 2 years ago but has been a bit part player really, with their recent relegation there's a slight chance surely. Great age, good pedigree. Not sure what the fee would be, maybe a loan with an option to buy at the end of it would be shrewd. Might be pie in the sky but wondered what you guys thought. -

I might be wrong but haven't the overwhelming majority of teams that have won leagues or european competitions played with a back 4? The only two I can think of recently who've won with a back 3/5 are Conte with Chelsea in the prem a few years back and Tuchel in the ucl a couple of years ago. Conte might be the only one to do it in the prem, can't think of another. Wouldn't be against it but prefer a back 4, as said above it's pretty fluid so could be a 2 and a player drops in to make it a 3. -

Just seen the Sterling interview on rtv, as said above he is properly keen to come here. Seems a sincere lad from the little that was said and does look a bit gnarly haha. If it's a 50-60 game season hopefully Beale will be comfortable with rotating him in for Tav, he's not getting any younger. -

Aye that's fair, the only reason I thought Raskin might've been Wilsons is because of his love affair with Belgian football. -

Whisper it quietly, and the signings haven't even kicked a ball yet...but Michael Beale is doing pretty well in the transfer market. If Raskin is a Wilson signing then Cantwell is definitely Beale's. Looking forward to whoever else he brings in. -

McCrorie - 1m Tav - 4-5m Lundstram - 3-4m Souttar - 3-4m Yilmaz - 5m Cantwell - 8-10m Raskin - 6m Jack - nominal Hagi - 2-3m Sakala - 4-5m Matondo - 3m Notes: McCrorie has played less than 10 games for us so 1m might even be too much. Tav is brilliant but 32 early next season, no one's coming in with much and I think I'm being generous. 10 years younger and he'd be a record sale. Might be lowballing Lundstram but he hasn't set the league on fire, would mostly be efl clubs in for him I think and that seems realistic, I'd sell him and laugh for that. Yilmaz/Cantwell/Raskin - maybe I'm being conservative I don't know, but by the end of next season those figures could double. Still very early days, but looks like it could be shrewd. Hagi/Matondo - just recoup what we got, would be sound. Sakala - would be great business. Bosman, low wages, contributed, flipped for profit. Didn't delve too deep, just off the top of my head for the XI last time out.
