  1. If you throw enough money at it you will get success.. Blackburn, Chelsea, QPR and City being examples of that with varying degrees. Newcastle now as well. If United keep spending they'll get there eventually, whether people like it or not. City claim they don't spend but then stock up on 50m pound footballers who might work out or might get punted in a season or two. And the proper murky dealings like the clubs owners buying peps brother a football club, that's something that's common knowledge but never gets mentioned, imagine what's happened behind closed doors.
  2. Well, it's a watershed moment for football..this teams now immortal (or immoral, depending on your view). Plug the greatest coach of the last 20 years into a team with unlimited resource and he sweeps up, who knew. I appreciate the relentlessness of it but I think, if it wasn't already, the games gone.
  3. UEFA need to stop doing finals in countries where its knocking on 30 degrees in the evening, it absolutely kills the quality of the game. Both City and Inter have been poor tonight. Same as us in Seville, it was pedestrian. Inter have been brutal to watch in attack saying that, if they had half an idea on what to do in the last third they could win this.
  4. Yeah our fans loved Gerrards no nonsense approach in his pressers for us but at Villa their fans pretty quickly thought he was a narky prick, and so did the journos to be fair. Ange will have to adapt or he will go the same way, not that I'm arsed.
  5. Starting to feel a bit of trepidation over the Cifuentes links to be honest, seems very vague apart from him teasing the fans by being active on socials. Chris Jack didn't say when he was having a medical just that it was 'soon' or 'sooner rather than later' and I haven't seen a consistent transfer fee mooted, I've seen 500k to 1.5m and more. Am I being pessimistic? Everyone assumes that the manager was being coy when he said it wasn't that close but maybe he was just telling the truth. Hopefully this one gets done.
  6. Aaahh I don't know then, haven't seen anything concrete that he'll be a free transfer. If he is then it does change the perspective on it rightly or wrongly.
  7. Fair point, if Beale thinks he can get goals out of Lammers then we'll have a good player. There's plenty of examples of players being bought under scrutiny and coming in and doing better than expected, look at Diogo Jota for Liverpool. They bought him for the thick end of 50m and everyone thought it was nonsensical with his numbers but he came in and has been 1 in 2 since with no prior telling that he had it in him. I might be a bit too positive but I trust Beale, cifuentes + lammers and another attacker and left sided centre back and we're almost there I'd say.
  8. Done the obligatory youtube clips and he looks pretty silky so it's not a bad comparison, maybe not to his level though. He looks like he'll be able to retain the ball which is key - if we had someone who could make it stick those cup matches against Celtic would've been a lot easier.
  9. A glimmer of hope I've got is that Atalanta invested in him and they've had some pearlers in recent years.
  10. I know it's a rag but it's a transfer link I rate, better than what we've got now at least: [Snip]
  11. POTS - Tav, between him and Fashion. Flop - McGregor, didn't even bother diving in the end Most Improved - King, pleased with his minutes and performances this season Unsung Hero - Sakala, without his contributions we would've been a lot worse off, but people don't like to admit it Best Signing - Cantwell, speaks for itself
  12. Did a little bit of maths and looked at Dessers' last 3 clubs and his numbers per 90, which I think is probably more like real terms for strikers. Goals p90 at Genk: 0.70 - 11 in 43 Goals p90 at Feyenoord - 0.92 - 20 in 41 Goals p90 at Cremonese - 0.36 - 7 in 29 To be honest, I didn't think it would be that good and that's not counting his earlier clubs in Utrecht and Breda where he was prolific or his assists as well. He could be a decent player for us, maybe Beale knows what he's doing.
  13. Just seen the behind the scenes vid of the players trying it on, to be honest I really like it. Wasn't sure they'd got the colour right but it looks good. Probably the best kit castore have done so far, maybe Souness inspired? Would like a kit with a collar for a change but still, I'd give this one an 8/10 without silverware (so far, imo).
  14. Aah of course, the player that when the going gets tough feels his hamstring getting tighter and tighter.
  15. Problem with Borna is that if he's not swinging in crosses like it's going out of style he doesn't do much else for the team. It's killing our style and we need to move away from spamming crosses against a low block. Also on Dessers..for a reported 6m and at his age I'm hoping that we swerve him pronto, could be wrong obviously.
  16. There's obviously a keeper in Butland, anyone who remembers him at Birmingham City or Stoke know that he's got bags of ability. Hopefully the style of keeping that's required at Rangers will suit him better; dealing with crosses, counters, 1 big chance a game and distribution instead of just getting peppered with shots. The sitting on high wages if he flops is bogus, teams would love him down south as a no.2/3 to fill a quota..hence why Utd offered to double his wages.
  17. Maybe that's why McGregor waned in the end..not due to poor form it's just that he shrunk with old age ha.
  18. Just the confirmation, apparently he supported Utd as a boy so respect to him for turning them down for good money. Pretty pleased with this one.
  19. Most are big lads, Maja + a another for good money would be good as long as the another has previous for scoring goals! Out of those Douvikas maybe?
  20. Yeah that first pic doesn't do it justice really but the second one looks much better, I still like the design anyway. Win a couple of trophies and it could be a classic, I've only really liked the look of this and last seasons kit since we've been back in the prem to be honest.
  21. Wouldn't be the daftest thing in the world to stick a fiver on Hamburg tonight.
  22. Done by the sounds of it, to be honest on a free and with prem and intl experience - regardless of how his career has stalled: it's a no brainer.
