The Summer 2023 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
yuddie replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
If we can get 60 odd goals out of him the next 3 seasons then it's a goer. I'll back the player and manager until it's beyond support, there's a clear plan and idea in place with the players that are coming in. Cifuentes and a LCB and I'd be fairly content, that will be the bulk of the rebuild and then it's just a matter of shifting and replacing players. Possibly looking at domestic players within Scotland wouldn't be the daftest if the bulk of it is done. -
I've seen the fixtures and to be honest I think the start through to November is fairly favourable, then from November to February will be crunch time and a grind and then it eases off a little bit. Honestly can't see why we can't win 7/7 for the first couple of months, or at least go unbeaten.

Totally up to the manager but at this point if Sterling can't get at least 15-20 starts at RB next season to give a Tav a breather then we've just sold the lad a dream, especially if it's another 60 game season and against the fodder in the prem. We all have our opinions on Tavernier but he's 32 in October, if we keep using him like a bar of soap it will come back at us with a vengeance. When and how long was his new deal? If it was a couple of seasons ago we need to seriously look into easing his workload to eventually have someone taking his place at the end of the contract e.g 2 seasons if it was a 4 year deal. -
Aye, we all bemoan the lack of personalities in football and as soon as someone shows a glimmer of humour online they get panned for not training. No wonder their accounts are usually run by third parties and they don't say anything of interest in post matches. Good on him, he was probably the best player in Scotland post January so should rightly call Sutton out on his nonsense.

Said it before and I'll say it again, I'll never understand why McCoist bends over for him. He'll slag Rangers all day and McCoist will just sit there and laugh.

Thought I'd link this article on Danilo and Sima, interesting line at the end suggesting we could have a buy option. Bring in Sima and a another striker (Danilo/Dessers e.g) and its starting to look better. Honestly though left centre back is a big issue for me. Anyways, Chris Jack is reliable. I'd like it if The Athletic signed him up seeing as Campbell has gone although I think that was just for 'balance' in terms of reporting on the OF clubs. Load of bull***t but hey ho. -

Translates to 'Rangers have put a concrete offer on the table for Danilo' roughly. Mad the reaction to this that I've seen compared to Lammers and Dessers who, to be fair, have a better record than him in the Netherlands. Would still be happy with the signing right enough. Unsure of credibility. -

Obviously a 20 goal a season striker in the spl is what we want but as said before on here, this team scores enough goals to win a league and has done since Gerrard came in really, let's not get infatuated by it. Fans will rightly say we've lost goals in Tillman and Morelos but generally they weren't that involved towards the back end of the season and we were still comfortably scoring (although we're leaving chances out there). I'm more worried about the Left Centre Back signing, we need to cut out a third to a half of last seasons goals conceded rather than try and score 100+. If we do concede a lot less we'll be on for the title imo, just because we'll always make chances especially within Beale's system. OF games being a case in point. -
Haalands goals for City in the prem. In terms of movement and positioning it's the best I've seen but for me, probably because I was in high school at the time, Suarez still had a better season in 13/14. Considering he was playing with Joe Allen, Jon Flanagan and Aly Cissokho and damn near dragged them to the title. I'd actually say Drogba had a better season in 08/09 as well, he was a beast that season. What do you guys think? I struggle to get excited watching Haaland play but his intelligence in the box is unreal. It's a shame Bernardo Silva is leaving because he's the player in that City team I'd pay to see at his best, incredibly silky player.

I've banged the drum for Baccus before but for this money surely it's a no brainer? Especially over a 60 game season. Unsure how credible the link is though. -

Late one lads but it's a link that will jog the memory, do you remember Sima for Slavia Praha a few years back? We're close to a loan deal for him apparently. I'll include the link but it's behind a paywall, so I'm just putting it in for headlines sake. If anyone could do some digging that be great. -
To be fair retro and vintage gear is pretty big these days, I'd wear some of the 80's and 90's stuff casually out and about.
-
Seen that we might be playing Olympiacos in August at Ibrox as well, not sure how true the rumours are though. If we are that's a good spread of quality opposition.
-
I think Castore have done pretty well the last couple of seasons. Big fan of this seasons home top and this away is nice I think, if the stripes went from collar to bottom then it would be a pearler. More importantly, we need to win in it.

[Official] Zeb Jacobs Appointed New Academy Director

An article Campbell did last year on Beale and his eye for talent, spotting Lijnders and Jacobs, Campbell. Apologies if it's behind a paywall guys, it's not like I'm sponsored by them but the athletic is probably worth the subscription. -

I know this will get eyes rolling but minutes to goals he's pretty exceptional outside Italy. Even in Italy it works out at about 1 in 3. Agree on the age though, if we could find someone at 23 with his record I'd be all over it. As to not doing much other than score goals, Beale has been deploying a front 2 so he'll be signing players with that in mind I.e Lammers. If Dessers is the finisher then Lammers is very much the technician and link from midfield to attack. -

Professional football in the UK mate, look at how our Women's team are front and centre of producing content for the club (whether you like them or not) whilst our Men's team will do a 'Getting To Know...' when they sign and then nothing until they leave. Similar with Premier league clubs as well, they're all frightened to death of something being taken the wrong way or a bad comment and if it does happen they batten down the hatches. Example being of Pep Lijnders shouting 'EVERTON!' during a Liverpool training session when Divock Origi scored (he had a habit of scoring against them), the comments loved it but it gained traction and they cut it out. Zero risk zero personalities. They seem to think swearing in an interview when they've won something is stellar content these days. I was watching McCoist showing off his MBE in the dressing room on repeat the other day, that's the content I'd love to see. Get the lads teasing Steve Davis for his MBE. Sigh. Rant over haha. -
[Official] Zeb Jacobs Appointed New Academy Director
yuddie replied to yuddie's topic in Rangers Chat
Aye apologies, I meant the SPFL rather than the lowland league. Also, just to quote the article: 'Belgian Jacobs was initially recruited to Rangers in 2021 to become Head of Academy Coaching, with current manager Michael Beale, then first-team coach, involved in attracting Zeb to Rangers.' -
Just been reading up on the new director of academy Zeb Jacobs who will hopefully usher in a prosperous era in that department for the club, because I still believe it has huge untapped potential and I suspect so does the club. If we could just get the B team into the Scottish leagues I think we'd motor along and I do believe we will and it will be a big remit for Jacobs, as will be producing first team/squad players and/or players to be traded which is still a key part of a successful academy. On a side note, I've got the feeling that the club is really starting to make action on the 'One Club' ethos, with Beale now looking like Bennett and Bisgroves choice and Jacobs being sought after and brought into the club due in no small part to Beale. A DoF who satisfies the manager and board and I think we'll be in a good place above the pitch, I'm pleased with the communication coming out of the club since the clear out. Anyways, I'll post the link to the article of his announcement below - feel free to say what you think on Zeb coming in, the future of the B team and it's potential or the alignment of the club since the clearout. Cheers. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-announce-zeb-jacobs-as-academy-director/2OVxRYBjgQm3ABnPh6BYjq

I know this is sacrilege to bears of the 80's and 90's but I don't rate Ally as a pundit or co-comms, he's okay on the amazon coverage but outside that it's like bingo with his commentary and punditry. Still beggars belief that he enables Chris Sutton to be fair. His enthusiasm is always nice though. -

- Left CB (dominant and good ball player) - Midfielder (Box to Box, engine, good duels) - Marquee Striker (goalscorer with height) - Utility Forward (young with clear potential, comfortable off the left, right and through the middle) I think if we spend in 3 of those positions and find another on a nominal fee/free then we'd be pretty much set I'd say. Or spend in all 4, who knows. Just to list Examples: - Trusty - Cifuentes - Stewart - Whittaker Nothing concrete just previous links, more fussed about the positions than the examples. -

We're not in for Douvikas by the way, in case any of you saw the rumours going around that we're submitting a bid. I'll link an article from The RR, apologies if it's behind a paywall. H&H and a few others have debunked it as well, not sure if fan media is totally reliable but some do seem more reliable than actual journos these days! https://www.rangersreview.co.uk/features/23599949.anastasios-douvikas-rangers-transfer-links-cleared/
