Rangers Europa League Squad Submitted - No Danilo / Matondo
yuddie replied to Sutton_blows_goats's topic in Rangers Chat
Not to put the clappers on it but Igamane actually looked good technically. As in can deal with a ball in a tight space. Have we found a ST that can trap a ball? I've started to think it's a myth. -

FFP doesn't limit investment into infrastructure though. NEH was the right thing to do. If we can't invest into the team due to FFP then go and redevelop Ibrox if people are willing. I know people have said it's pie in the sky but still - just thought I'd mention it. -

On their head be it then. If the prices go up and we keep losing then it'll get ugly for the board. -

The club can't be thick enough to over charge surely? It's an easy win that they desperately need. Although I suppose they'd argue they desperately need the money. The fans will vote with their feet if they chance it. I've got Villa mates and they're raging about their prices - it's unmissable so they've been bent over. Be fair Rangers FFS, read the room a wee bit! -
Aye, if the club are serious about it they should push to join the WSL. Playing against part timers is no good for these girls.

Made me laugh tbf. I mean, you say introverted - I'd say scared stiff of the ball.

Would be interested to see if we try and develop Kasan into our own Geertruida.

The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

It's not just a Rangers thing mate. There's a reason the premier league are swapping and selling players to each other, it's because the rest of Europe can't/won't match their players demands nevermind Scotland. It's Saudi Arabia or a neighbour. One of the daftest things we can do is recruit from the premier league/championship. The talent rarely ever matches the outlay - even on bosmans or short term loans. On that point, I heard Davy Edgar talk about the club needing to give the fans a boost and sign a Bosman, even if on a one year deal. That terrifies me. The players on a hiding to nothing and there's no resale value - the day the board bows down and appeases the fans with signings like that is when we really are beyond the point. -
He's bang on lads, sorry. 4-4-2 against the ball is the way this team should defend. It's not damage limitation but not getting beat over there is a small step to recovery. If he wants to go man for man, do it...but do it and if your press fails get back into shape sharpish, we weren't doing that. What I saw from Clement was sound in principle, you need fit, brave and intelligent players to do it and it looked like we lacked all of those things. Game state played a huge part in our xG end up though. Clement can't cling to that, Liverpool smashed Utd by 3 and Ten Hag was wittering on about their chances and xG - Liverpool sat back after '60. Maybe his ego was bruised after last season and he felt obliged to go man for man - containing them has more often than not worked for us except for the game at Hampden and Gio unleashing Bassey.
-
I sound like an apologist but I promise you that Clement did not want the lads to shit the bed and stop committing to a press after Celtic successfully played through it for the first time. They panicked on the pitch. The biggest issues he has with this team and club currently are psychological. The plan was fine.
-
Right. Clement went man for man, which in itself isn't a bad plan and it actually looked good initially but then Celtic started pulling our players from pillar to post and we were wide open. There's a genuine question as to whether he's got the personnel to do this, what with Dessers being a bit shy in the air, on the deck and immobile and our defence being slow. I don't mind the principle. I also don't mind that he insisted on building from the back. Our shape and structure is still a bit haphazard, and for me that's due to Souttar and Pröpper being worried about the runners. That's psychological. Yesterday was very reminiscent of Leeds Utd going away from home with Bielsa. One of the perks (or not) of when you go man for man is that you can't carry players having a stinker, if 1 or 2 players are losing their man and losing their duels consistently then generally it's curtains. We had half a dozen. I would've liked to have seen 4-4-2 oop personally, it worked well for us in the final even though we lost. I'll get panned for saying this but Clement does have ideas and a plan, the execution is just poor. We have a few days now to reset, the lads can have a couple of days and then we can get back on the training pitch with the new signings. The question I ask is would you rather be competitive against Celtic but be turned over by dross like Hamilton at home or vice versa? If he gets to grips with the OF then we'll be getting there. I'm trying to be glass half full here! Cheers.
-
I was hoping for 4-4-2 against the ball today, like the Cup final. Not sure why he didn't persevere with it tbh.
-
It is worth saying that it's a fairly new team. Half a dozen OF debutants today. It's no excuse right enough but it might explain why they shrank and panicked.
-
Hence Neville and Carragher having kittens whenever a team set their line on halfway.
-
@Rousseau does make a fair point around the xG, it's been a theme for years - Celtic are Uber clinical v us and we fluff chance after chance against them. McGregor and Furuhashi's goals today are one in a season goals. There's obviously circumstance surrounding the goals which more often than not include appalling defending. That can be corrected with good structure and coaching, which I think Clement is capable of tbf. I'm going to be glass half full and say stick with him, if sacking manager after manager in October isn't working might I suggest supporting them instead? The one time we did it worked out in Gerrard. If Clement can crack the ingredient to winning these games then he'll win the league for us, I genuinely believe that.
-
I know mate but game state will play into that. They aren't a brilliant side - we're just very meek when playing against them. Get a psychologist in, please! Slot done it at Feyenoord, they hadn't won in Amsterdam for years - brought in a quack and they pumped them in their own midden. We need these marginal gains. Clement needs to learn from this. Going man for man wasn't wise. Building out from the back was and is the right thing to do though - I'm pleased that we stuck with it.
-
My sessions just about to start tbf.
-
Said it before and I'll say it again - this team needs a sports psychologist. This today is deeper than just playing shite.
-
Watched him for a minute before the third. His tracking back was genuinely disgraceful. Sauntering.
-
You'd get slaughtered for wanting him in the job but you'd never see this mess under McInnes. Like above, we have to be tough to beat. Not parting like the red sea.
-
Clubs rotten isn't it. I feel sorry for the young kids following Rangers.
-
We're a team full of dopes man. Switch on lads c'mon.
-
We just can't handle runners. Which is bizarre because we've had 3 years practice.
-
That'll be Jefte off then, I reckon '65.
