Been asking that for awhile mate, I know @Gonzo79 (I think) said the praise is hyperbole, which is fair, but I still hold that Souttar has a higher ceiling or the raw ingredients to be a better defender. Beale was a bit short with the Tav question the other day and I have no doubt he'd be the same if you asked that at a press conference, problem is Beale knows what he has in Goldson at RCB and Souttar at LCB..question is would he risk for better with Souttar at RCB? Personally I'd love to see it.

Aye that's true, aren't Newcastle supposed to be 4th seeds this season? Don't get me wrong I loved the resurgence in Europe under Gerrard in the UEL and to be fair, we've probably never had a sustained period of success/progress in Europe like that before but I also love seeing our club in the Premier club competition. Can only guess that they're offering a fair old chunk to the agents as well as long deals on high wages. Like the 9 year deal on 250k a week for Caicedo. If you get anything over 50% of your transfers right in terms of player performance or profit on a sale then you've done well, if Chelsea do worse than that then they're in trouble..although Boehly's in bed with the Saudi's so I'm sure he'll have had a word with them as insurance. I think you play Cantwell and Danilo in this game with the view of rotating half the team for the Morton game in the cup. I'd probably go with Sima or Matondo and 2 Cdm's as well just because Beale knows it in Europe and can work with it in game scenarios. I'd be tempted to play Roofe actually but I don't think he will, I'd give Dessers 90 off to be honest. Looking forward to it, hopefully we get the win.

Watched it back yesterday and in hindsight it was a fairly decent performance, especially defensively. I'm confident with what we've got in the squad to do enough domestically, especially with cifuentes coming in. The manager can look at his midfield to attack and think he can readily rotate players like Dowell, Sima, Jack, Roofe etc and not lose too much quality. Clean sheets could be king so let's make a habit of getting them. Good stuff.

I think it gets the best out of Chilwell and James to be fair, or at least it did under Tuchel. Might just be a man for man job, not a bad idea with how weak Liverpool were in the tackle last season.
