Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Dessers 24') - 0 Motherwell
yuddie replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't mind it tbf. Pace in and around Dessers is essential imo, makes sense what Beale's done. Roofe had to come out as well. At least I can make sense of this lineup. -
Aye fair enough. Good player for us, comes across as a narky prick at times though - much like his master Pep. I feel people are hyping Arsenal a wee bit too much, they need a little slap and hopefully they'll get that today.

I want to see Arteta seething in the post match and doing his best impression of a rattled Pep Guardiola.

Has Moyes ever won at anfield? His record there is shocking.

Brilliant viewing mate, cheers. -
Anyone watching Brentford v Everton? I'm watching it thinking the one saving grace Everton have is that Beto is a Dyche striker to a tee. Mobile, powerful and can lead a line on his own. Typing this as he's missed a one on one haha. He's got these Brentford defenders pinned though. Dyche will be loving him.

Looking forward to it tbf, still got a bit of a buzz from Betis. The only definite change I'd make is Roofe - is that 2 in a week so far? If we manage his minutes this season then we'll have a better chance, it's that simple. -
Anyone following the Everton takeover news? Supposedly the wannabe owners have given Everton a loan to make sure the bills are being paid. Madness, I half think that stadium won't be finished.

Anyone got Butlands save % this season? I can only work out games excluding Morton and the Servette tie. He's at 83% in the league albeit 5 games in. For reference McGregor was at 85% during 55 when conceding 13 all season. I've said it for awhile, I think Beale has this team defending loads better than last season. Having a good keeper helps that. -
I think a lot of the fanbase are desperate to be proven right on Beale with their views, to the point where they seemingly can't enjoy a win against a team with good recent pedigree in the UEL and just a good side from a La Liga. By all means, take the pitchforks to the games but don't be shocked if it translates onto the pitch. Or maybe that's what some want, a 'told you so' or a self fulfilling prophecy? Saying that, I thought the team grew into it from 30 onwards and the crowd responded - so maybe there is a glimmer?

Went for Butland, a couple of good stops and one outstanding one that went under the radar - gave us a platform to build on. Davies, Lundstram and Roofe all worthy shouts.

Fucking get in! From about 30-70 you could see what Beale wants from this team and the crowd responded to it. Also, Jack Butland is a Rangers keeper. Mcgregor would've been proud of that performance. -
Also does someone want to change the title to 'ucl 23/24' or similar? Not sure how I can.
-
Watched the Milan v Newcastle game and was bemused after it as to how Southgate won't give Tomori a chance? Plays week in week out at the top end of a top league as well as playing european/ucl football every season and doing it well. He has actually won a league title as well. He needs to get his head out of his arse man. Wouldn't blame him if he switches to Canada or Nigeria, both have good chances at playing at world cups with the talent they're producing. Go and be their starting CB for the next decade. Rant over. It'll fall on deaf ears as most on here will be Scottish haha.

Liverpool would do worse than signing Neto from wolves btw, can play right left or central and is still 23. If he keeps this form up I'd sign him in January and loan him back if Salah is off in the summer. Great little prospect for a team that can't hit a barn door. Tore Liverpool to shreds that first half.

De Zerbi will be at City within a couple of years, what he's doing is unreal. With f***ing Danny Welbeck upfront!
-
Namely Haaland more.

Do you lads agree that not even 10 years ago missing sitters wasn't as rife as it is now? I swear I'm watching prem games and seeing 3 or 4 chances on a plate go begging a game. People laugh at Torres vs United for Chelsea years ago but we're seeing one of those a week now it feels like.

Match Thread [FT] St Johnstone 0 - 2 Rangers (Danilo 16; Matondo 79)

I think there's still a fair bit of paranoia lingering within the fanbase from watching Ange's Celtic spank teams by 5 regularly. Agree though, we need to create more chances closer and central infront of goal. -

Tbf, I think going forward we're not great to watch. Defensively we've been sound. It's not a disaster. -

Looked into it, it would track for 16.7 goals conceded (I think). Obviously early but that's pleasing signs defensively for me. -

To be fair 2.21 xga in 5 games is pretty impressive no? I thought we've been pretty good defensively this season and that pretty much backs it up. Wouldn't that track for sub 20 goals against over 38 games? I've always said we score enough, if we do hit sub 20 goals against and hit a similar amount of goals for as last season then I think we could win the league. Gives me confidence at least. -
In fairness it was putrid questioning from journos and fan media alike, even if they weren't straight questions like 'is your job in peril' there were loaded ones from fan media asking him if he knows what his best team is, in so many words. Just 15 minutes of stoking the fire and grabbing lines.
-
Fully agree but you've asked why I voted no and I've answered, outside of the league I said it's pretty grim. And he was 9 points down when he came in like.
-
Had a look just to see his record in black and white.. Barring the Celtic results he's played 24 league games and won 21, drawn 1 and lost 2 at a win % of 87.5% (I think). Or 64 points out of 72. Including the Celtic results in the league he's played 28 games, won 22 drawn 2 and lost 4 at a win % of 78.5%. Or 68 points out of 84. I'm not great at projections but that would get us about 91 points just on the wins and possibly more with draws over his first 38. But aye, I fully get that we need to improve against Celtic because once we do I think we'll win the league based on this, it's a reason why I voted no. But to say his record outwith Celtic in the league is 'not bad' is a bit disingenuous - it is what we've wanted for years. I just wish we could see it coming though ffs. Maths might be off, apologies if it is but I tried haha.
