It was aye and it was dismissing his early work tbf as well as the graft he put in through the leagues to get to the prem - rather than the silver spoon opportunities that Jansen and Lampard have had for example.
-
You're howling mate, respectfully. Imagine getting back to back promotions with Sheffield Utd (4 years ago), winning LMA manager of the year ahead of Klopp and Guardiola for someone to come to the conclusion that his final season with Sheff Utd is a shit show. I know some of our support are cynics but jeez-o.
-
Saying he has failed everywhere outside of Sheff Utd. The bulk of his career was spent at Oxford, Northampton and Sheff Utd and he got all three of those teams promoted - Utd twice. 4 in 9 seasons. He had a howler at Watford aye, which manager doesn't? He's done far more in his career to deserve the opportunity than some other names I've seen. I'd still be trepid about it mind.
-
Well that's bollocks but aye.
-
Geniunely curious as to why you'd have Lampard over Wilder? Is it simply because he's managed Chelsea and Everton? Even allowing for that and his Derby days his CV isn't half as good as Wilders and the football was half as good as Sheff Utd's. I sound like his biggest fan here like and I'm not haha, ideally we'd be getting Mosimane for me. If we're going down the young coach route go and sound out McKenna at Ipswich.
-
Genuinely, I'd still take Wilder until the end of the season. Had Sheff Utd playing great football. Apparently knows the Scottish game as well. Lampard would kill any hope I have.
-
In fairness the interview and pictures of Davis around the ground is a bit of a red flag for me - calling him the new manager etc. The fear is real. Hopefully we'll have someone in by the second week of the intl break.
-
I'm not being funny but hasn't he rejected Barca before? If he comes to Scotland it'll be the biggest appointment in decades.
-
If we're after a bit of both then realistically we'd have to look outside of the top 10 leagues in Europe. Muscat and Mosimane probably tick that box, maybe even Rogério Ceni in Brazil - he's got trophies and a high career win %, he's worked with Beale before which is why I've brought him up. Can't say I've seen his teams play but having Flamengo and Sao Paulo on your CV isn't a bad thing I'm guessing.
-
IF we go down the Scottish route (I doubt it) who's out there? Alex Neil? 3 promotions including Hamilton. 54% win rate in 77 games with them tbf, major doubts though. McInnes? Nah not for me. Kettlewell? Too early. Ent great is it.
-
Aye that's fair, I meant the Scottish talent rather than our academy lads. The proofs there with those players though that they got their game time and improved considerably, I'd be surprised if players like Devine, King etc got worse if we played them like. Consistently as well.
-
I agree with @Graeme Ro55 (i think it was you mate, might be someone else) about looking forward to putting this behind us and what's next. I feel like a bit of weight has left my shoulders, still carrying a bit though..hopefully the new gaffer can bear the brunt of that when he comes in. Hopefully the players look less downtrodden also, it's a privilege to wear that shirt - play like you're enjoying it, not full of fear.
-
I'm not saying flood the team with 3 or 4 teenagers btw, Devine for Tav for a start and then you can give Rice sub appearences and drip feed him in. We're shit scared to even do that at the minute.
-
Aye of course - I'd be talking about Devine, King, Lowry, Rice etc. I think most fans would support the new gaffer if Tav was rotated with Devine this season to phase him out. He hasn't put a foot wrong really when he's played and a few of them have been at left back. The quality of Scottish players in the league and gettable talents abroad is a bigger question granted but hopefully in the next few years we won't pass up talents like Doig, Stewart, Nisbet, Ferguson etc. Add in a couple of academy players and you've got a good core of good Scottish players in the club. Hypothetically. Some will disagree and say those players aren't good enough but let's be honest, they're better than what we have now.
-
I know this is a bit of an old da gripe but I hope the next manager coming in bloods youngster's and plays with a core of Scottish players. We're in a position, contrary to popular belief or at least imo, that we can because of how dominant we are (or should be) game to game. Young players values aren't going to drop by playing them week to week and there is something about having a core group of Scottish (NI as well tbf) players in the dressing room - it's always been the way with Rangers up until Warburton and then Gerrard. We need to get back to that. Not fussed whether the manager has connections or is Scottish mind.
-
It's a shout not many will like and I get it tbf, but I wouldn't mind Wilder until the end of the season. He's had promotions from the National League through to the Prem and his Sheff Utd team played great football under him. On the proviso that it's a rolling contract. Idk if it's an omen but apparently he was in the Rangers end at Hampden in February. Not mad for it, but I'd take it. Have KT as part of the staff.
-
Mainly because I loved him as a player ha. He's had success tbf though.
-
Hernan Crespo?
-
Said it before, Muscat smacks of paranoia within the club and fans after we got railed (and still recovering) off Postecoglou. Seen Pascal Jansen mentioned, he's won fuck all with AZ and finished 4th in the Eredivisie last season. Got to the semi's in the UECL last season though.
-
It says a lot that Jesse March probably has the most significant silverware on that list.
-
Christ, that just doesn't fill me with confidence.
-
Aye but it could be his last chance to manage in Europe and potentially manage in the UCL. It's not a bad sell I don't think.
-
He had to go. Hopefully this is a catalyst. Tbh some of the names I'm seeing online are giving me the fear. Would be worth looking at managers outside Europe (not Muscat!). Someone like a Mosimane, can't even pretend to have watched his teams but everything I've read and watched about him is good. Revolutionised African football by all accounts. There's bound to be others I don't know but that's an example of someone who would be interesting. Rather than a Derek McInnes, jeez-o.

Let's start again with Butland as the first signing and a different manager haha. -

Brutal viewing. I think Beale wanted the defenders and Lundstram to carry the ball in fairness but alas, they're shit scared. Writings on the wall. Pains me to say that because we're back to square one a year on from Gio.
