[2023] Who should be the next Rangers manager?
yuddie replied to BlackSocksRedTops's topic in Rangers Chat
Mate I wouldn't go fucking near one of those things. Although if they're shifting the glass and Struth tells them McInnes is the one then no one can argue. -
Aye, hadn't watched it back but seen the push now. The meltdown in Scotland has been something to behold. You could argue that it's both yet Stewart has the TA on strings. Grim really.
-
Just chipping in as a non-Scot...it wasn't a foul but I did think it should've been ruled out for Offside. Most Scotland fans would want that if it was Angus Gunn being impeded. That game was also brutal listening with the comms. I know paranoia and conspiracy reigns supreme in Scotland but Stewart was taking it a step further. The ref was atrocious for both sides.

Poll Re-run: Who is your preferred choice as the new manager?

I agree, I think they've chosen their top candidate. -

Aye of course, but it will make a difference I think if he can get in and get the lads on the grass straight away to try and familiarise them to his ideas. Otherwise we're looking at purely recovery and video analysis/meetings until the back end of November. -

I haven't heard anything but it would make sense for the manager to be announced tomorrow or Saturday so he can have the full week with the lads. It's not like we're stacked with internationals atm either, which says it all really. If it's Sunday evening and we haven't heard anything then that's just negligent imo. -

That's it though isn't it, just when you think you've seen the worst of Tavs defending he'll drop the mother of all howlers and then the next game put one in top bins. Enigma of a player. And if we're being honest with ourselves, his legs had gone in the Seville season - he was absolutely towing in that final. -
Hazard's retired then... Genius technically and probably with Messi the last great dribbler of a ball who didn't use 'skill moves' so to speak. I think he's said himself that he used to hit the burger van after a game so its no shock that he's retired at 32 and peaked at 28 odd, World Class player with a Sunday League diet by all accounts. I'd put him on a par with Gazza minus the madness - genius that could've/should've done more. Both carried a gut but had brilliant close control.

Aye very true, hence the paranoia. -

Judging by the paranoia in the fanbase 'media trained' would be a big plus, someone who isn't as tight lipped as Gio but not running his mouth like Beale. I'd say Gerrard is the ideal style but I always thought he was a bit of a narky prick infront of cameras and I think most Villa fans would agree. I'm not too arsed about it but I know there's an element of our support who live in the mire that is the toxicity between us and Celtic and can't stand headlines. -
Michael Ball another one? He was highly rated in England.
-
Aye he didn't do anything for us tbf, but when ex teammates and pros who've won the biggest trophies say he's got talent then it must've been there somewhere.
-
Halliday said a few weeks back that he's the best he's ever seen in training and now Trent Alexander-Arnold has come out and said he's the best he's played who hasn't 'made it'. He even said he thought he'd be one of the best in the world. Makes me think of other talents we've had who've been that prodigious but just couldn't translate it to a match day and disappeared, Jordan Rossiter another one perhaps? Robbie Fowler thought he was the next one for Liverpool. It's probably why Gerrard gave Barker chance after chance, he's tearing it up in training but just couldn't do it in the match - must be frustrating as a coach. What do you guys think? Opinions on Barker and players with a similar story with us or other clubs? The podcasts that I'm talking about are an Open Goal one a few weeks back with Charlie Mulgrew (I know) and a podcast by Liverpool Football Club that came out today on their YouTube, I haven't got the timestamps apologies.

Tbh I still think Muscat working with budget constraints for his whole coaching career is massive and should be for the board interviewing him as well. We're still not in the clear financially from 2012 but we're slowly getting there - but the new manager will have to work with a few bosmans/loans/pre contracts and I think Muscat can do that. And win doing it as well. Dick is still the only foreign manager to succeed with us and his budget damn near killed the club. -

Muscat over Clement for me - isn't Advocaat pretty much the only foreign manager we've had that's been successful? And he spent bucket loads which Clement won't have. With all due respect to him and his origins of course, but there's definitely always been a sharpening of the knives for foreign managers of both sides of the OF in the MSM - you saw how quick they turned on Dick when it started going sour. Both foreign of course but Muscat being born in Britain and playing the majority of his career over here (and playing for us)... you get my drift. -
Match Thread [FT] St Mirren 0 - 3 Rangers (Tavernier 30' pen, 90+1'; Sima 71')

There's a wider point about putting in an academy player with senior pros around him like we did today with Ross and Zak, but we haven't even done that in recent years until we've reached destination fucked (the last couple of weeks). It's not healthy for the club or young talent if the only chance you'll get is when the club is in crisis and fans have the banners out. Hopefully the new manager can have a better relationship with the B team. -

Tbh it's just taking the win and hoping we get a good appointment in this following week. Hoping that the players don't think they've answered the critics because for 90% of that game it was tripe. Agree with the posts above - if anyone wants to tell me that young Lovelace and McCausland were out of their depth and not first team ready compared to their teammates on the pitch then please quote me and tell me, because that just makes you wonder... Hopefully now young Ross gets a run in the team, I won't hold my breath though. -

I'm sure you'll hear McFadden and Sutton talk about double jeopardy in the break.. -

These players are chronic for coasting so it would be nice if they went for the jugular. -
