  1. Thought that was fine tbh. Solid at the back, could do with a few more chances created though. Again, we were at our best when Barron was dictating the play.
  2. We have to keep finding Barron. He's dictating the tempo brilliantly again.
  3. It has to be said though, the manager does continually make it tougher than it needs to be. Tav, Dessers and Lawrence could all come on later in the game and we wouldn't miss them for it. Play McCausland off the left.
  4. I'd like to think that he's got a couple of pre planned HT subs like Igamane and Kasanwirjo. C'mon lads, big performance!
  5. Big win today please lads! It'll be interesting to see how the players react to the UB having the Copland now. If it can inspire the team to a couple of late winners then it's worth it imo.
  6. Club 1872 is still probably the only vehicle for wholesale change inside the club for fans, in principle at least. Otherwise we are just rearranging deckchairs or contemplating takeovers from VC's. You can say what you like about the organisations governance but that's their selling point isn't it, 'never again' and fan representation on the board. King offered them his shares and any fan could've signed up to buy them through 1872 but the uptake just wasn't there. We won't revolt, we've been prodded and poked by the rest of Scottish football for decades and it's got to the point where we're just apathetic as a fanbase. This board are benign I think though, or at least I'm 95% sure they are. They just can't buy a win atm.
  7. I think if we can spunk 25k a week and £4m on Sam Lammers on a 4 year deal then we can afford executives. Which is my gripe, don't lowball candidates and be cheap, pay good money and get a stellar candidate. If we can get a brilliant CEO and AD in for the same price as a big first team signing for 4/5 years then do it. It needs to be treated like a transformational signing, but then there would need to be a visible and distinct plan in place for their tenure. Yet to see one post 2012 tbh. Unless you count Gerrards aura as being a plan.
  8. Pretty sure Ceferin gave the Atlantic league the nod tbf. It was Celtic pulling out that's kiboshed it.
  9. Just seen Kieran Maguire has posted the accounts for Dumbarton. Here's the post: Thought I'd put this in here, if they do end up as a going concern could we strike a partnership deal with them to help them out ? I know it's vulture behaviour but we've got a good relationship with the club what with the B team using their pitch in seasons past, might still.
  10. We're Rangers, we love a bit of revisionism. I'm sat watching Spurs get turned over by Coventry in the LC with Hadji Wright, a favourite of Beales, leading the line. I genuinely believe the best signings Beale made for us were the ones he didn't make. Which then led me to ponder over how many targets we've missed over the years and the butterfly effect that then ensued. For instance last season we were in for Wright and Whittaker initially before it cooling rapidly, both seemingly identified by Beale. Now for a Butterfly effect: I reckon a front 3 of Sima, Wright and Whittaker wins us the league last season. What do you reckon? Am I chatting sh**e or is there logic in this dreaming? And should we give managers a wee bit more lee way in regards to not getting their no 1 targets, or 2 or 3? I've a feeling Dessers and Lammers were a few names down. Feel free to put in your butterfly effect signings too. Jardel, Ronaldo, Messi - who would've come in and been a Cantona esque signing for us.
  11. Maguire reckoned the last one was on a par with a lower EPL side.
  12. I wonder what kind of data the club use in these negotiations? Would they have the numbers of fans tuning into RTV every week as well as the Sky/Premier numbers to get a gauge of exposure and riff off that? Kit sales and footfall as well. Wouldn't mind those kind of figures being included in the accounts every year tbh.
  13. £3m a year including incentives would be really good tbf. I still think we'll all look back on this era of betting sponsorship in football and cringe in years to come though. I'd be interested to know if the club have been talking to Castore about a renewal. We were the springboard for them breaking into the market so you'd think we could achieve a similar rise in a kit deal. Although I think a smaller rise but bigger royalty/commission (idk how to put it) on our sales might be more fruitful. The club would rather a bigger guarantee though I'd imagine. I find football finance and business, sport business in general, more and more interesting these days. Maybe it's just growing out of loving transfers and wanting to know what's behind it. Or just getting older!
  14. Can't help but think Emery's Villa are what Clement is trying to replicate with us. They're not proactive in the press, play with a no 10 and a direct style of play. What Villa do consistently that we don't is fire it through the centre into their teammates who have the confidence and technical ability to trap it, turn and play forward again. The only one doing that on Sunday was Barron and funnily enough it was when we were playing our best stuff. If our lads just creeped out of their shell a wee bit and were consistently proactive we'd be a side transformed.
  15. I'm sure it's been mooted on here before but we should be putting in the groundwork to bring in Lyall Cameron from Dundee next summer. He'd be a more than decent flexible rotation option in the midfield who could develop into a starter imo. Especially if we're letting Lawrence go. Which we should be.
  16. I reckon that's why we've had a slow start tbh, aye it's been a big turnover but we've got a lot of young and inexperienced players in the XI and match day squad now. I'm quietly confident that we've got the beginnings of a decent side. Let them live a European campaign and title challenge this season and they'll be better for it.
  17. Which is why sorting out the B team and AD has to be a priority for the next CEO. Set out a plan and vision and see it through. Enough short termism, we've been treading water for too long.
  18. Aye. It's a lot easier to implement a trading model when you bring in the thick end of £200m in TV money. It's a different beast altogether when you're trying to implement it at a club where qualification into the knockouts of the UEL is do or die for the budget. BUT, it is the right way to go about things. Invest in youth, develop them and sell them on. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we should have a monopoly on Scottish talent akin to Ajax in the Netherlands. It's not like Celtic are producing stars through their academy is it?
  19. If we are going down this route then I'd rather see us invest in Linfield than anyone else invest in us. Especially with the post Brexit rules on youth. Possibly a Welsh premier club too.
