Match Thread [FT] Malmo 0 - 2 Rangers (Bajrami 1; McCausland 76)
yuddie replied to Gonzo79's topic in Rangers Chat
The starters will need to get us ahead come 70/80 because there is nothing on the bench in terms of grabbing a late winner. Looking forward to seeing Kasanwirjo. Although it's a slap in the face for Fraser, just been awarded a 3 year deal and with 2 senior LB's unavailable the manager has plumped for a RB/RCB by trade. It would be interesting to see how many games he's played at LB. Anyway, let's win this Rangers! -

Hope the weather's better in Sweden than in Brum, f***ing biblical atm. -

Also it's interesting to note that McCausland hasn't really put a foot wrong this season apart from being thrown in at Parkhead because Matondo shat it. He's been positive in every appearance but for some strange reason - Cerny being on a fat wedge more than likely - he just isn't being used from the start. He ended last season really well as well, strange management imo. -

Agree with the defence. Only one I do disagree with is Raskin, it'd be too intense and he's just off a long lay off. I'm no fan of Lawrence, but he's in decent ish form - we might aswell ride it out before he pulls up in training. Butland Tav Souttar. Pröpper. Fraser Barron Diomande McCausland. Lawrence Bajrami Dessers -

How's your old man mate? Idk if this is the place for it but I think you said he was poorly awhile ago. Rangers won't be much of a cure ATM sadly. -

It has to be said though, we can't keep having players twist and ankle or go into an innocuous challenge and be wrote off for 3 months off the back of it. If you can't withstand those things you simply can't be a footballer. We either need to build these boys up physically, revamp our medical department or do a due diligence in recruitment. In fact, we need to do all 3. The manager is trying to do so but this happens time and again. -

By the sounds of it he got it in a tackle in training. I'm not expert but with the way he's picking up injuries in pretty innocuous ways probably suggests he's either not ready in his body for the physicality or just very unlucky. -

By ongoing you mean Ridvan and Cortés? Aren't they the only 2 that didn't train? Both being crocks like. It's been okay so far on the injury front, at least compared to last season. 🫳🪵 -

Another problem I have with this Rangers side is that whenever a team outright says they've got the beating of us they do then go and beat us. Think Rodgers last season and his 'we're going to have some fun' comments, they then duly had some fun. Or PSV last season after the game at Ibrox yelling at our lads in the tunnel that they were going to batter us in Eindhoven. Which they duly did. No backbone whatsoever. -

I actually thought their social media post was a nice touch rather than any sort of gloating. Wouldn't surprise me if we got something. A win over there would make the campaign a bit easier for the manager. -
Aye I've been banging that drum for awhile, the club need to bring in a sports psychologist. Read before he came in that Clement was big on that sort of thing early on in his career at Belgium - surprised he hasn't leant on it over here. It's badly needed as you say.

Which makes you wonder whether us complaining about creating enough chances is a legitimate concern. It is, we don't create enough between the sticks and close to goal - it's the chances we should be dealing in every game. Funnily enough his first time finish from the cross on Saturday was Jelavic esque, which frustrates even more. Saw someone post on socials that Dessers has 29 in all comps since the start of 23/24 whilst Furuhashi has 21. Dessers scores plenty, just not big enough imo.

The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

I'd take Matip in a heartbeat, a genuinely excellent defender. It would be daft financially though and let's face it, it would never happen. -
Went for Jefte for his engine. Looks like we've picked up a steal. Koppen looks like he's good at picking up young gems - which is what we need tbf.
-
I'd be surprised if he's the same player after doing his ACL. Van Dijk has never been the same since he done his. Rather Pickford done it.

Still think availability this season will be the difference between a challenge and just floating along to second. On that, Souttar (touch wood) has been fit for a while now - he was seen as a crock when we signed him yet he's been available for a good couple of seasons now. -

I'll keep my powder dry until we see him get a few games in the 10. Dujon was poor but I think playing him at RB would be wise from here. I'd feel bad for him if fans turn on him and his career at Rangers goes south when he's never had a run in his natural position. -

I thought Sterling was a massive concern. Was a good few yards off it tonight - nowhere near anywhere. -

I like Dessers for what it's worth, but he's not got a good record in the OF. Let's not pretend otherwise. Outside of just goalscoring as well, he's been detrimental in a few of those games. I'd take his poor GS record v them if he was a presence. And in an era where dominance in those fixtures will win you the league due to how poor the rest of the league is I think you can justify criticising him - in that regard. And you mention his goals in Europe, he's got 3 in 13 mate. I'd happily keep him in the squad because he does bag regularly and is fine for the bread and butter in the league but I am just not confident in him getting us over the line in the big matches. If he starts smashing them in in the OF then I'll eat my words. If he could just trap it and get us up the park in those games I'd dine out on them. -

Amidst all the doom and gloom, that's 4 clean sheets in our last 5 btw. We really aren't as pish as some make out. Not world beaters but definitely not 3rd place bad. Butland had a gg to that end, Celtic game aside he's had a good start to the season imo. -

That's it isn't it, he'll probably score 20-30 but how many of those goals will be big? -
