  1. Offer him out to the MLS. Standard is getting better all the time over there and he's a European player in his prime with decent ish pedigree - God knows they need more players of that calibre. They can probably afford his wages too.
  2. I'd rather see Lammers go first, at least we know Dessers can score in Scotland. Maybe not enough, but regularly enough to do a job in the squad if shit hits the fan with recruitment.
  3. Tavs one of those players I spoke about imo, not great to watch but you look at his metrics and he looks like a world beater. Gerrard would never have sold Tav, neither would the board he worked under. It's a good thing that we're working this deal.
  4. What those numbers basically tell us is that he's missed a few chances that should be buried - the difference of 0.25 between goals p90 and xG p90 will bear out in the 4 in 12 he got (0.68 goals p90 when he's expected to hit 0.93). If he'd have hit 0.93 goals p90 he'd have only got 5.46 goals by my maths, let's call that 6. Extrapolate that over 38 games and you're talking the difference between a 15 goal or 25 goal season probably. It's not fancy stuff, the data backs up what your eyes told you - some players are monsters in the data but flatter to deceive in the eye test (Souttar). All about context, and this provides it.
  5. 0.93 xg p90 is ludicrous tbf. Not far off Haaland numbers, relatively speaking...his is 1.03.
  6. His goals p90 was excellent from what I recall, albeit a small sample size.
  7. Oh aye, we're probably 3/4 first team signings short of being competitive for the league in the SPL *currently *, imo. UCL is what it is tbh, I don't fear any of the teams we can draw because of our recent record in Europe - and most of those teams are regulars in the Europa. Tav will have to leave eventually, it could be a blessing or a curse depending on the recruitment and the management of the team. Getting a fee for him would be brilliant business by the club. Case in point being Jordan Henderson and his move to Saudi - that should be how we approach and come out of this.
  8. So reinvest his fee in players who have a record of scoring? Is that not how recruitment and this 'player trading model' works. Moneyball, lose a big asset and recreate his attributes over several others you bring in. If we lose Tav and sit on the money I'll personally apologise when the window slams shut.
  9. I'd be stunned if we tried to replicate what Tav has done at RB with another signing in that position. Use his fee on the wings and upfront surely? Not having a go like but I've seen so many people say 'how are we going to replace his output'. A: We won't. Not at RB at least. You'll halve his goals output by putting someone else on set pieces for a start. Plenty of options for us, one of them being keeping Sterling in his preferred position (!) and letting Jefte be the one to bomb on.
  10. Anything like 3m and we take it and leg it. Thanks for the service, don't slam the door!
  11. And the rest, he carried them hard last season. I've never begrudged them thinking they should get 4m for him - without his goals they'd have been struggling big time. Hopefully the clubs been in contact with his agent, we can sign him in January no?
  12. Just on the Traore link, seen a few losing their heads over the price and his age - 29 in football today is not the 29 some of you saw week in week out during 9 in a row. We could get 3 good years out of him in what is a really poor standard of football in Scotland. I do understand the Shankland whataboutery though. We want good experience, unfortunately that's the price.
  13. Just on the managers comments, it's confirmation of what's been played out in the market and what we've known about the clubs dealings - what's encouraging for me is that Clement has backed up his long term vision with this club and team with buying and investing in young talent for the future with the funds available. It might not be popular but it shows he's serious about the long term health of the club. What isn't encouraging is the comments regarding his surprise with the current budget constraints. This snide dishonesty is seemingly rife throughout the club, possibly a legacy of Bisgrove, but there have been too many cases of the club being dishonest to fans and staff in recent times. Hopefully the situation we find ourselves in with our current budget constraints and total mismanagement of recruitment coming to a head will be the wakeup call this board needs to operate like an elite sporting operation. It's a shit storm of all sorts atm, but I think the prevailing thought is that the manager has to be backed by the fans because God knows he's getting it from nowhere else.
  14. Put Collum in charge and he'd probably work himself up into sending someone off.
  15. There was a wee bit of needle all game imo. What was it, 4 bookings? For a friendly?
  16. Good test. I'd like to see more cohesion and a better structure in the rest of the friendlies though.
  17. The young lads whenever they play are always proactive, bringing impetus. Our fans would have you think they're mince but they're far better to watch in a shirt than the depressive first teamers. Just wish you could bottle their enthusiasm and give it to the seniors.
  18. Bit of niggle in this game too I think.
  19. Better this second half so far.
  20. Aye I'd add Jefte to that. Diomande still looks like the only player who can turn and pass forward when under pressure.
  21. That's not the managers fault btw - if he's gets no first team signings, then what hope has he got?
  22. I don't particularly see any new cohesion or plan, just the same shite different season. Hoping against hope it's just that the lads are knackered - but if Goldson and Davies are our starting CB's then I don't think Clement will see November. Sorry for the negativity.
  23. We're about 5 yards off where we need to be.
  24. Manager reckons they're well ahead in their prep - could be a chasing this. Should be a good test for the lads.
