Mr. Butland I think the biggest problem is the system and the use of only one striker. Against so many defenders it is utterly wrong. I would use 4-4-2 or 3-4-3 against this.

Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Sima 75') - 3 Aberdeen
Idisi replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
What a brutal week, you are not alone. I think Rangers need someone who knows how Scottish football works, not someone who has to learn it again. And someone who can make hard decisions. Rangers cannot be a project for upstarts and hopefuls, academy coaches and trainers. I heard of that Potter guy, but der Berliner also told me of McCann, one of your former players. He will know the game and the club. Perhaps until someone else has been found. Watched only 30 minutes today. Aberdeen were lucky with their goals, but you could see that they wanted it more too. From that point of view, they deserved the result. It would be a less hard lesson if the Rangers players had shown the same will to win. This is something a new coach has to weed out. Too many lack enthusiasm and spirit. Cantwell and Sakala have/had that. And Hagi. -

Despite some late heartbreak last night, all the best for your adventure -
The highlights I saw was a goal wrongly disallowed and a penalty not awarded. I laughed at that, really. They scored a good goal on the counter and that was it. Very strange decisions by the referee and the VAR man. Not exactly a good game from either team, the result was always in the balance. This team needs someone to organize it and the players have to find their spot on the park. Nothing won yet and I think Celtic is already out of the league Cup? So leave some anger (instead of keeping calm) and drink some tea.

Sorry for that loss. I was quite surprised that there was no Balogun in a defensive 3. PSV was good at Ibrox and their wide players caused lots of danger. Was Jack injured? He should have played with Lundstram in front of the defense too. Of all defensive midfielders that I saw last and this season, Jack notices danger quickest. I will never understand why quality people like Danilo and Sima sit in the bench, but a young player like Matondo is being used. Cantwell again was the best player, but he can't do it all alone.

Perhaps you have luck with Amazon Prime. They have one game per round every week in their Champions League program. At least in the German version.

Servette does not look that good in defense and they will have to attack and play more open. That will be better for Rangers' attackers, they will have more room. I think you have good strikers now and they will find opportunities tonight. -

Match Thread [FT] Kilmarnock 1 - 0 Rangers
Idisi replied to BlackSocksRedTops's topic in Rangers Chat
They were only out to destroy any sort of football and you can defend much easier with 8 or more players and make the opposition look stupid. It was a not-loosing formation, a formation we call anti-football. I have seen this often last season in Scottish games and der Berliner told me it has become standard. But where can you rank this "standard"? -
Match Thread [FT] Kilmarnock 1 - 0 Rangers
Idisi replied to BlackSocksRedTops's topic in Rangers Chat
I just saw extended highlights of yesterday's game and I don't think one should not be overly critical in Rangers. (Do not become German clones when it comes to football. Either "we" are super or "we" are rubbish, the opposition does not matter!) Kilmarnock played anti-football and landed one lucky punch. Such football will get them nowhere, no matter how much the reporter swooned over their brilliant tactics. It just shows a total lack of understanding how low such sort of football actually is. Too bad that luck decided to reward the uncapable. -

I did not see much of Colak, but I don't think selling Sakala is a good idea. At least now. You have two new strikers, possibly 3. Sakala can play aß a single Striker, but was better playing right. Always active, direct and shot at every opportunity. I would keep him, at least for the Champions League qualification. -

You signed Morelos for almost nothing and he had fantastic numbers. He always looked grumpy and this season wasted 3 or 4 chances before scoring. He went for nothing, so all in all, for a cheap player he did well and got away with little critique. If what deBoer writes is right, Dessers might be a similar player as Morelos, but very expensive. The vultures might start circling above him even before he plays a ball. Looking at the Team, you already have Roofe and Colak as deadly strikers. Sakala wastes a few chances, but is always there for the next. Cantwell is good at shooting too, need to see what Lawrence brings, but his stats looked good too. Lammers ist there, soon this loan-guy Sima as well. It is not my call, but I would not break the bank for another striker just yet, unless I am totally convinced of his impact. -

Or just that typical "modern football business" model. Buy cheap and sell high. But 7m looks rather high, even €. -

Read about it back then and it was written, that Rangers made a loan-deal with a fixed buy sum after that. The buy-back thing is not that common, but I thought that this was Bayern's back-door to get him Back if he becomes famous. That there was another clause between loan and the buy option is indeed strange. But I see that Rangers have bought good players since. -

If you have to take gambles on players, it would be better if these were contract-free. If they fail, there is little hope someone spends cash to buy them. So one has to hope the coach knows what he is doing. But Cantwell should give you hope, I think -

Thanks. I was just wondering. The u21s don't play this weekend and another striker on the bench might be good. If they are not ready, you won't put them there, of course. -

Line up looks very much like before, just different people. Always the same, really. I was checking the teams and wonder why there is no young striker from the junior/u21 team? Only Sakala and Morelos is a bit weak? -

I was given the impression that there was only a limited budget available, given the problems with these old investors and companies? Looking back at the season in the stats, the only new players that were really given a chance were Colak and Tillman plus Raskin and Cantwell later on. Lawrence looked really good, but then injury struck. Many old players have simply not performed as they did before, lots of injuries too ... all things that you couldn't know at the start of the season. A recipe for disaster. -

It is the same with Union over here in Berlin. Players can be good or bad elsewhere, but in a new club everything starts from scratch. Since Der Berliner invited me in here, I have seen about 10 to 15 games. Vera different to what we see here in the Bundesliga, but you do need real strikers or attackers that can score. Far too few shots are actually dangerous. -
