Ally McCoist was at the meeting? Did everyone else know he was attending meetings with Green, how did I miss this? If McCoist is attending meetings with Green it does to shine a slightly different light on what Green is up too and indeed his relationship with McCoist. Or am I reading too much into this. Anyway, St Mirren, sporting integrity, yada yada yada.

Yeah, basically the 'newco' Rangers have no connection to 'oldco' Rangers. So if 'newco' decide to give Hearts, Rapid Vienna et al sums of money that's their business. Any company could choose to pay those 'debts', it doesn't mean they are liable for all the debts of 'oldco' Rangers. I see no reason why the SFA couldn't insist on this.

I'm going to add Cammy Fraser to my list. I was in the Govan the day he 'gestured' to us. He later grew a moustache, having shaved it off on joining Rangers as we banned them, but Souness came and the rule was relaxed. See, we let the facial hair rule slide and 25 years later we're bankrupt and destitute, well I blame Cammy Fraser. Malcolm Robertson had a belter to be fair, whoever he was.

Document sent to SFL clubs to put Rangers into the First Division
amms replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Quite a document. I think the only thing they've forgotten about is supporters. From my reading of the game currently this pretty much pisses off the majority of clubs fans. They might want to think about that. They can keep sponsors and keep money but without supporters what have they actually got? -
Rangers newco: Plans for club to enter Scottish Division One
amms replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes, i just enjoyed a conversation with a Celtic supporting colleague who is seething at this report. Eventually you reap what you sow. -
On first reading I don't have too many complaints with his statement, I wish he'd made it sooner. The investors names don't mean much to me and I'd like to know how they intend to make money but this is a step in the right direction. Keep us informed, tell us the truth and most will allow them to get on with it.

Yeah, yeah, we've way more important matters to worry about currently, but fuck it, my heads bursting and I've not spoken about football, real football, players and grounds and tactics and stuff for what feels like years. So, following my article about Naismith and my defence of him on this site, and the subsequent anger many others feel towards the players that have left rather than bottle it up or discuss it rationally, here's where you can let it out. All the vitriol, anger, built up frustration you've got about someone who played for Rangers, this is the point to air it. I declare an amnesty, we're in strange times, no league, hardly any players, unknown owners, it's a good time to get it off your chest. I'll start. Gary fuckin Stevens. A stamp collecting, floppy haired, over rated, overpaid, 'full back'. Well full backs can defend, well good ones could and he couldn't, oh but he could run around a lot, up and down, an athlete he was apparently. Well so fuck, his crossing was shit, he couldn't tackle, he couldn't even foul properly. And that fuckin hair. And everyone thought he was brilliant, he wasn't, he was fuckin ordinary, ORDINARY. And he collected stamps, what the fuck, this was the late 1980s not the 1930s! And that passback, that fuckin passback, LOOK BEHIND YOU YA FUCKER, IT'S A CUP FINAL, JOE MILLER IS SHIT, HE'S ONE OF THE WORST CELTIC PLAYERS EVER, EVER, AND YOU JUST MADE HIM A FUCKIN HERO, AND RUINED MY SUMMER, RUINED IT. WHAT THE FUCK, JUST CLEAR IT YA WANKER, IT'S NOT HARD, BOOT IT TO FUCK, REALLY HARD. BASTARD. Oh you can go back to blow-drying your hair and searching for penny blacks, i've got to face tims at work and girlfriends brothers ya prick. There's other stuff too, probably. I've been carrying that load for a while.

I've always felt one of the most important things about football fandom is irrational, unjustifiable, nonsensical hatred of someone or something. I hated Gary Stevens, don't ask me to explain why, I can't, but I hated him all the same. I can see why someone might hate Jamie Ness today, I don't as it happens but I can excuse someone else for it. If we remove emotion from football and replace it with logic then we might as well all chuck it. Nani, that Portugese player, I hate him, and that other fucking waste of space that played upfront for the Czechs, Baros, I fucking hate him too. Pair of cunts. Neither have ever done anything to me I should add.

For me simply tell us how he see's the next 3 months panning out. What league he expects to play in, and why, and how he intends to cut our cloth accordingly. If he can tell us that, and the answer can only be Div 1 or Div 3 or nowhere then we can begin the process of gaining trust and moving forward. His reluctance to speak on the most basic of subjects is what troubles me most. I've no idea if he is good for the club or bad, by not speaking to us though I'm left to fill in the blanks myself and so far his account has more debits than credits. To say 'what's the alternative' is missing the point spectacularly and avoiding the issue.

Aside from the rights or wrongs of Ness leaving, Stoke do seem a strange choice of club to join. Ness, if he could stay fit, a big if, would flourish in a technical league on the continent, France or Holland for example, I don't think he has the experience or physicality to play in the EPL.
-
Good point, Ness and McGregor too I assume. However I imagine the 'oldco' and 'newco' will muddy the waters over who is actually due the compensation.
-
:tongue:I'd never realised how like Allan McGregor, Hutton is, I hope there is never a paternity test....

That's fair comment. Brown is an unlikely spokesman in many ways, but he claims some inside knowledge and is clearly concerned enough risk public ridicule and lose his job over. Whether he can affect change is an issue though.
-
Maybe not. But he's in control and no one is sure who he is, who he represents and what his plans are. You can see the concern I take it?

Just a point regarding Auchenhowie. It's often mentioned that the land can't be sold for housing, I understand this to be correct. However I also understand the land can be sold for leisure or sporting activities, such as a health and fitness club for example. It's also worth noting that planning consent has been challenged in the area recently, West of Scotland Rugby club for example successfully challenged the planning zoning. Where there is a will there is a way.

I'm trying to take a deep breath here, seeing if there is another, good reason for doing this. For example if we lurched back into administration would having the grounds under a separate company protect them from creditors? Is it a strategic move by Green to protect assets from something as yet unknown. I'm guessing here because the the obvious thought, that Green is hiving off assets simply to make more money from us is quite frightening. As was said above without players, a league to play in and now a ground what is actually left?
-
Hear hear, that odious cunt is the last thing we need just now.
-
The FC United of Manchester is a better parallel. I'm not suggesting we should do this yet but at this moment I'm sceptical we'll be playing any level of football this coming season.
-
Possibly, you've as much chance as being right on this as I have.
-
I think you're over-estimating John Brown's business acumen here. I was only making the point that he is quoted as having met with and spoken to Green this week. I doubt Brown is the answer to our problems, however he does seem to have spoken to and been rebuffed by Green before speaking to the media.

I don't disagree, it's shambolic.

1. What's reasonable, quite. I'd say if we'd agreed say £500,000 release clause for Davis if we find ourselves in Div 3 or out of the game all together would be reasonable. His agent might disagree. That way we would receive something that would help fund the club. Had we agree similar 'nominal' amounts for release of players who clearly aren't going to play in Div 3 then we could have received in the region of £3 to £4 million in transfer fees, the players would have still been bargains and would still be able to negotiate pretty good signing-on/salary deals with their new clubs. We'd have sold them for a fraction of their real value but better than what we'll get now. 2. Okay. Perhaps we can't afford the current squad on current salaries and need to clear the wage bill. Players walking out would help in that scenario. Perhaps not being in administration again is part of some grand design. I'm guessing here. 3. If the value of players contracts helps inflate the value of the club for selling purposes then refusing to sell players might be a scenario that could occur if Green was looking to get out. Refusing to sell a player to club A who have offered £500,000 and who the player wants to sign for could well happen if say club B offers £750,000 for the player. Clubs can and do say it's club B or nothing, take it or leave it. The player is unhappy but what can he do.
-
I took it to mean McCoist and the coaching staff, I could be wrong. I'm sure they do have their hands full but I'd have thought speaking to the players would have been a priority frankly. What Green could have done is agree to release to the players if we do find ourselves in Div 3.
-
Isn't Brown quoted as having spoken to Green on monday and asking him to name his price? What more can he do?
-
That assumes a number of things. Firstly that the club would be willing to let them leave for a realistic amount, secondly that the club actually wanted them to transfer over in the first place and lastly that we are being run by honourable people who would keep their word.
