Bill McMurdo, marching to the beat of a different drum ?
amms replied to frost's topic in Rangers Chat
Surely every contract we had before Green's takeover became null and void after it? Did we renegotiate it or simply just agree to honour it? -

Why does it make economic sense? Why do we want or need that piece of land? -

Do we know what these plans are? I know we've a historic connection with the Albion but why do we want to own it, what is the benefit to Rangers in owning it? -
Yeah, you need to set some sort of criteria here mate, if it's going to be reduced down to 28, and it can be, then rules are needed. Number of appearances, international honours, trophies won, time spent at the club, influence on the club whilst there or after they left. Guys like Eric Caldow, George Young and Bobby Shearer have to be included, but going further back Tom Vallance is a huge figure in Rangers history, Alex Smith was at Rangers for 14 years and won 20 caps at a time when Scotland only played 3 or 4 matches a season, these guys records far exceed many of the players we idolise today.

As an aside why do we want to buy the Albion, what is it we intend to do with it? -
No, I don't think we should 'just bite the bullet' if by that you mean give up. I think the club should engage with the process, I think he has a far greater chance of stopping it if he does that. I also think we should be doing all we can to influence every other club so that we aren't left isolated again. Making grandiose statements about about fighting is all good and well but this is political and political battles are won in the backrooms and by forming alliances. Being isolated doesn't assist us just now. Just my opinion.

No reason I can think of.

Realistically what could he do? He could go to court but that would be a lengthy and expensive and by no means guaranteed success either. In my opinion the best thing Green can do for Rangers is to stop making enemies and start making friends, however much that might stick in the craw. There are enough clubs and individuals out there who have no real axe to grind with us, they see this for what it is, an opportunist witch hunt to benefit one club. We've the means to combat that if we improve our PR a bit.

But it's all psychology, say nice things about their set-up, complement the opposition, talk them up, that's what managers the world over do. It's very harsh to criticise McCoist for that. In actual fact Alloa have a very good set-up, they are a model club in many ways. Their structure is impressive but I agree our ambitions are very different. -

C'mon, Ally can hardly sit in a public press conference and be anything other than respectful to our opponents. If he said publicly that we've much better players and we should hump them then he's done Alloa's team talk for them. Bland platitudes are all part of being a manager, particularly at press conferences. There are grounds to criticise McCoist but that's one-eyed in the extreme. -
These people just can't stop talking about us. No one from Celtic though, wonder how their crowds are bearing up....

Well it doesn't stop any of us does it! I don't expect them to give coaching tips, simply to set the goals for the club to achieve on the pitch. Whether that's to win the league, play passing football, develop young players to sell etc is irrelevant. -

Maybe. Green stated he was going to create a "football board" I've not heard a lot spoken about it since though. I'm not a huge fan of Smith but I accept that we need someone to give the club football direction. -

I agree, I've not heard what it is expressed yet. I'm willing to make allowances for the events of the summer but it should be in place reasonably soon. -

Of course directors decide these things. The directors employ a manager/coaches to train and play the team in a certain way. They should provide the vision for the club, the employees job is to deliver that. -

We'd have heard if he'd lost the dressing room, players are terrible gossips, it would have come out. I agree we're possibly missing an opportunity, for me the direction needs to come from the directors though, they should set the vision and charge Ally with delivering it. -

Right, so it hasn't been reported it's just an observation then? I think the team can play better than they have so far this season, but I've not yet seen anything that leads me to believe he's lost the dressing room. -

Has Ally lost the dressing room? I've not heard that, where did you hear it? Serious question, because that would shine a different light on it. -

Haha! My babysoft teenage skin is thicker than you might imagine, if I've a beef with anyone I take it up with them first. Believe it or not I've had my mind changed on many subjects by Rangers messageboards, well structured, passionate argument is great with me. -

Calscot is more than capable of speaking for himself so i'll let him reply. My take on what he's written isn't that we should do nothing but that we should allow Ally more time to get it right and show more understanding of the situation. -

We all want improvement, we only disagree on how to achieve it. There is a difference between understanding the reasons for something and defending them. -

I've complained to the mods about one poster once and I didn't do it in secret. I'll tone my language down for you in future. -

I'm willing to accept that the people on Gersnet are bluenoses, even the ones I strongly disagree with on a number of subjects. If you want to start the 'sniff sniff' stuff on anyone you disagree with then you might be on the wrong site. You just made that quote up though, no one on this thread has said that. Great, which position? -

I disagree. No one I've read is suggesting everything in the garden is rosy, we're only disagreeing on what should be done about it.
