Club 1872 Statement - Paul Gascoigne's Scottish Hall of Fame nomination The decision of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame committee and the Scottish Football Association to withdraw the nomination of Paul Gascoigne to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame, once again highlights the incredible hypocrisy of Scottish football’s governing bodies. As far as Club 1872 is aware, moral issues are not the dominion of the Hall of Fame committee however it now appears there is a moral test which some individuals must pass to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The SFA and the committee should clarify whether they will be assessing the moral fibre of all past and future entries using this test. If Hall of Fame positions are to be judged on contribution to the Scottish game then there is no question that Paul Gascoigne should be honoured. If not, then many more than him will need to be stripped of this accolade or be deemed ineligible for induction. The SFA recently released the new Scotland kit and used a player convicted on racism related charges as the pin-up boy for their marketing campaign. They also employ another individual in a high profile position who has previously made headlines for overtly racist, sexist and homophobic comments. SFA board members indicated no concern whatsoever when these individuals took prominent roles in promoting and running their organisation. They should now publicly clarify which SFA board members objected and if any attempts were made to influence the committee to withdraw the nomination. Aside from the hypocrisy of the SFA we are also extremely concerned by the attempt to blame Paul’s health for the reversal of the nomination. On the back of Mental Health Awareness Day, this reference is not only offensive but irresponsible, and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of mental health issues. Club 1872 wishes Paul all the best with his health challenges and we hope that the Rangers family and wider football community will be able to provide him with the support that has been so lacking in this troubling and shameful episode. POLL REMINDER: Club 1872 Election Process A reminder to members that our current poll will close at midnight on Sunday 14th October. If you have not yet voted then please take the opportunity to do so prior to this time. The original poll email is copied below. Elections for the Club 1872 boards will take place in the coming weeks. In preparation for this the organisation has undertaken a review of our current election process and the criteria for standing for election. We have reviewed feedback from members and working group volunteers, and looked closely at best practice at a number of other supporter organisations across the UK and beyond. Club 1872 is an organisation in its infancy and as we evolve, we strive to improve and strengthen our foundations. In its first two years Club 1872 made significant share purchases, becoming the second largest shareholder in RIFC when we purchased shares from MASH Holdings. More recently we invested £1m directly into RIFC through a share issue. An organisation with such a significant shareholding and the potential to participate in decision-making at Rangers should be secure and protected from instability and disruption. It is with this in mind that the Club 1872 board has approached discussions about how future boards should be elected and the length of term they should serve. We previously wrote to you to indicate that we would poll members on extending the term for future Club 1872 board members. The current one year term is an issue that has been raised by a number of members over the past year. It is also something that was discussed in a meeting with RIFC Chairman, Dave King in connection with an RIFC board place. The current one year term creates challenges in progressing long term plans, and the annual election process causes a significant period of upheaval each year which disrupts crucial work in taking the organisation forward. Please note: any members’ authorisation to change the length of directors’ terms will only be implemented from the next election and/or affirmation process. Current directors’ terms cannot be extended without either election or affirmation. The Club 1872 board has also discussed a number of other ideas that could potentially protect and increase the stability of the organisation. In line with our constitution, it is for members to decide whether those changes should be implemented through the adoption of a new Election Schedule. We would ask you to vote by clicking the link below and logging in to your account - you will then be automatically redirected to the poll. The poll will close at midnight on Sunday 14th October: Club 1872

The Founders Trail and Ibrox Stadium Tour Dates 2019.
BEARGER replied to The Moonlighter's topic in Rangers Chat
Cannot recommend this tour enough, a must for every fan. -
Probably one of the worst performances I’ve witnessed and that’s saying something. Managed to make a piss poor Israel team look like world beaters. Not that we should be surprised with McLeish tactics, plays both Robertson and Tierney and both out of position.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45806043 Kyle Lafferty: NI boss Michael O'Neill 'disappointed' as striker opts out of double header From the sectionNorthern Ireland Sharethis page Kyle Lafferty (right) has scored 20 goals in his 68 Northern Ireland appearances Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill says he is "disappointed" Kyle Lafferty has decided not to play in the Nations League games against Austria and Bosnia-Herzegovina. O'Neill said the Rangers striker, 31, contacted him on Sunday night to inform him of his surprise absence. The manager added Lafferty had "ruled himself out of the two games". He said: "Our focus is the players who are with us. I'll address the situation after the international period." Northern Ireland face Austria in Vienna on Friday and Bosnia in Sarajevo on Monday, needing to pick up points after the opening home defeat by the Bosnians last month. Lafferty started Northern Ireland's Nations League opener to earn his 68th cap and is one of the most experienced members of O'Neill's squad. But O'Neill said Lafferty - who was benched for Rangers' match with his former club Hearts at the weekend - had taken the decision himself not to travel. The Rangers forward has scored 20 international goals although he hasn't netted for his country since the 4-0 World Cup qualifier win over Azerbaijan at Windsor Park in November 2016. Northern Ireland have not lost any of the 17 international games in which Lafferty has scored in. His absence could present an early opportunity for Rotherham striker Kyle Vassell, who has been called into O'Neill's squad for the first time at the age of 25. Lafferty has scored four Rangers goals since returning to the club from Hearts in August.

CRAIG FOWLER Published: 15:55Tuesday 09 October 2018 Steven Pressley has been sacked by Cypriot side Pafos just four games into the new season. Join our Facebook group Our Edinburgh to share images and news from and around the Capital Steven Pressley joined Pafos earlier this year. Picture: Getty The former Hearts captain took charge of the club earlier this year and managed to successfully steer them away from relegation. For this feat he was rewarded with a two-year contract extension. However, the board have moved quickly to terminate the deal after Pressley could only manage one point from his opening four league games this campaign. Assistant Brian Reid has also left the club. The pair convinced fellow Scot and former Dundee full-back Kevin Holt to join the Cyta Championship this past summer. Pressley, 44, interviewed for the role of Hearts manager in August last year but lost out to Craig Levein. He’s also managed Falkirk, Coventry City and Fleetwood Town. Pressley made over 300 appearances for Hearts during his playing career. He also turned out for Rangers, Coventry, Dundee United, Celtic, Falkirk and Danish club Randers.

As title, Newton Stewart RSC have it.

I agree. But I don’t find it provocative in any way, in fact I think it makes the plastic paddy’s look pathetic as we know them to be. Why would any Rangerd fan find the Irish flag abhorrent?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45739578 Hearts' Scottish League Cup semi-final against Celtic has been moved to Murrayfield and will kick-off at 13:30 GMT on 28 October. And Aberdeen v Rangers will take place on the same day at Hampden at 16:30. Both matches were originally scheduled to take place in Glasgow with an early afternoon start for the Dons' meeting with Rangers and an evening kick-off for Hearts v Celtic. Celtic manager said he was "disappointed with the process". When the fixtures were originally announced last week, Hearts and Aberdeen stated their concerns about travel arrangements for supporters with both games taking place on a Sunday with reduced public transport provision. Both games can only be played on the Sunday at the earliest as both Celtic and Rangers have Europa League fixtures on Thursday, 25 October.(
