The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
BEARGER replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Rangers have signed defender George Edmundson from Oldham Athletic on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old made 54 appearances for the English League Two side last season, scoring twice. "To come to Rangers is a massive opportunity and I feel like I can live up to the expectation," he told RangersTV. "There were a few clubs interested but as soon as I heard about Rangers there was only one place I wanted to come." Edmundson made his Oldham debut in September 2015 and had loan spells with non-league outfits Ramsbottom United, Alfreton Town and AFC Fylde before establishing himself as a regular starter for the Boundary Park club in January 2018. Meanwhile, striker Zak Rudden, 19, has signed a one-year contract extension at Ibrox. Rudden scored 12 goals on loan at Falkirk last season. -

· 35m For Rangers fans following - would come as no surprise if George Edmundson excels up there. 100% committed, strong, decent in the air & mature for his age with big experience already. While two others put bids in, plenty more were interested. Would imagine he'll develop quickly. -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48694803 Scottish FA completes deal for Hampden Park ownership Hampden Park currently has a capacity of just under 52,000 The Scottish FA has concluded its agreement to purchase Hampden Park and will take ownership of the national stadium on 1 August 2020. The governing body agreed a £5m deal with owners Queen's Park in September 2018, after discussing a possible move to Murrayfield. The League Two amateur club have now accepted the final and binding deal. The stadium, built in Glasgow's south side in 1903, has been hosting Scotland matches since 1906. Since its construction, it has hosted all but 16 Scottish Cup finals and all but seven League Cup finals, along with three European Cup finals, two European Cup Winners' Cup finals and a Uefa Cup final. The record attendance of 149,415 was for a Scotland v England match in 1937, while the last refurbishment came in 1999. With a capacity of just under 52,000, Hampden will stage three group fixtures at the 2020 European Championship and one last-16 knockout tie, before the Scottish FA takes control and the end of its current lease period. "The real work begins now to ensure Hampden Park can continue to serve the needs of the game and be an inspirational home for Scottish football in the future," said Scottish FA president Rod Petrie. Queen's Park, the oldest association football club in Scotland - founded in 1867, will relocate to Lesser Hampden. "Whilst it is a sad day for the club as proud owners of the national stadium, the conclusion of these protracted discussions and negotiations, will allow the club to fully focus on building our future at an upgraded Lesser Hampden," said a statement. "We must now look forward to ensure we remain a vibrant and competitive football club within Scottish football. To this end we will be shortly commencing works, on what is presently known as Lesser Hampden, to convert it into a licensed ground for our competitive matches."

Lifted from FF. General meeting today passed off without much of note. However, one guy who identified himself as being from "Follow Rangers" made a very self important intervention to berate James Blair over the dilution of shareholdings and to demand that his group are given the opportunity to buy shares. Not much info about them online but according to some Twitter posts they have about 50,000 shares. That is about 0.034% of the shareholding unless I'm mistaken and will be even less after these loans are converted? Pretty odd that such a tiny group would feel such a sense of entitlement. Guy after him stood up and thanked the investors for providing the soft loans which have rebuilt the club and will now likely be converted to shares. He got a round of applause in contrast to the stony silence and shaking heads at the "Follow Rangers" rep.

A report from the Times suggested the Rams had made a move for the Ibrox boss but he had "rejected" the chance to be considered as a replacement for Frank Lampard. Rangers insist Steven Gerrard hasn't been approached by Derby County about becoming Frank Lampard's successor. A report in the Times claimed the Ibrox boss had "rejected" the chance to be considered by the Rams if Lampard makes the move to Chelsea in the coming days. Rangers released a short statement to clarify Gerrard remains solely focused on bringing success to Govan. The club said: "Let's get one or two things clear. Our manager has not been approached and he remains one hundred per cent committed to the job he has here."

The gaps between Copland/Broomloan and Main Stand is something that detracts from the stadium imo.

David Turnbull: Motherwell midfielder rejects 'magnificent' Celtic offer By Scott Mullen BBC Sport Scotland Motherwell had agreed a club record fee with Celtic for Turnbull David Turnbull's potential £3m switch to Celtic hangs in the balance after the Motherwell midfielder rejected their offer. A club record fee was agreed on Wednesday between the Fir Park side and the Scottish champions. But the 19-year-old player and Glasgow club could not reach an agreement over personal terms. Celtic have now released a statement to say the "magnificent" offer made to Turnbull has not been accepted. "Currently, we have been unable to come to an agreement with the player's agent," said Celtic. "Celtic FC is content that it has made a magnificent offer and it is now up to the agent and player to decide if the player wants to join Celtic. "If not, we move on." BBC Sport has learned a number of clubs are monitoring Turnbull's situation, including Barnsley who have already had a bid for the Fir Park academy graduate rejected. Sources close to Turnbull confirmed the Celtic offer has been rejected, insisting the player will continue to keep his options open. Turnbull, who scored 15 goals for his boyhood club last season, has two years left to run on his contract.

https://www.scotsman.com/author/joel.sked It is an argument which arises every time the Scotland are set to play. Which clubs provide the most number of fans and, conversely, which club's fans take little interest in the national team? It is often felt, in a sweeping generalisation, that the Celtic and Rangers fans are not overly bothered with Scotland, preferring to concentrate on supporting the two behemoths of Scottish football. The Tartan Army, it is believed, is made up of fans from lower league clubs, while Aberdeen is thought of as a stronghold for the supporters of the national team. Yet, data revealed by the digital manager of the SFA shows that Rangers have the biggest percentage of fans among Scotland Supporter Club members. They are followed by four of the other 'big five' - if you will. Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts and Hibs, in that order. Michael Bochel tweeted: "Probably a good opportunity to dispel some myths about the Scotland support. Based on the last time I looked (Dec 2018) the teams supported by Supporter Club members in order of % were: Rangers Aberdeen Celtic Hearts Hibs

https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/17691720.glasgow-politician-to-meet-with-scottish-football-bosses-over-celtic-boys-club-abuse/ 8 hrs ago Glasgow politician to meet with Scottish football bosses over Celtic Boys' Club abuse By Caroline Wilson @WilsonC75HTSenior Reporter Celtic has been carrying out its own internal investigation into abuse within the boys' club 42 comments A GLASGOW politician is to meet with SFA bosses to discuss his concerns about Celtic Football Club's handing of historical abuse involving the team's boys club. Conservative MSP Adam Tomkins said he had also requested a meeting with Peter Lawwell, the club's Chief Executive. Mr Tomkins voiced criticism after the Herald and Times group revealed that Celtic had been carrying out its own two-year investigation, in secret, looking into historical abuse cases involving Celtic Boys Club. It follows a string of convictions for former employees including Jim Caffrey and Frank Cairney. The probe – which is ongoing – has been headed by senior officials, legal counsel and third parties in complete secrecy as it looks to trawl through years of allegations to reach the truth. Because of the sensitivity around the claims including potentially both legal and civil actions, only a handful of people have been privy to the operation. Read more: Celtic to break silence over Boys' Club abuse involving Jim Caffrey and Frank Cairney Mr Tomkins has written a second letter to Mr Lawwell, accusing the club of not putting abuse victims "at the forefront" of it's investigations. Other criticisms levelled against the club include a failure as yet to put in place a compensation package for victims. He writes: "On the same day I wrote to you, I received a letter from the SFA. They have been in touch to arrange a meeting. It's a pity you have not done likewise. "How a wholly secret investigation at the best of an insurance company, can constitute a process designed to put the rights and interests of victims at the forefront?" Read more: 'You bring nothing but shame': Celtic Chief Peter Lawwell slammed by Glasgow MSP Mr Tomkins added: "My main criticisms are: 1. that what Celtic have said about the relationship between the football club and the boys club (ie that they are “entirely separate organisations”) does not appear to true and 2. that Celtic’s processes have been entirely secret and cannot therefore have been designed to help and support victims, which much surely be the paramount consideration." Celtic came under renewed criticism when Jim McCafferty became the fourth person connected with Celtic Boys’ Club or the club itself to be jailed over abuse. He was caged for six years, following Jim Torbett, Frank Cairney and Gerald King through the justice system. Celtic Football Club has been contacted for comment. -

None of these guys are the “marquee” signings we were promised. So it looks like we will be having a large turnover after all.
