Borna Barisic on the 'truth' behind Rangers omission and his relationship with Steven Gerrard Croatia international fell out of the first team reckoning last season but has returned with a bang this summer. Borna Barisic has opened up on his relationship with Steven Gerrard as he looks to nail down the left-back slot at Rangers . The Croatia international had an inconsistent spell last season after his £2million move from NK Osijek. As he struggled with form and fitness, Barisic only played once in the club's last eight fixtures - that being the last game of the season at Kilmarnock. But Barisic is back in the starting line-up and has revealed how he sacrificed his summer holiday for extra training in a bid to hit the new season running with the Ibrox side. The full back scored last week against St Joseph's in Gibraltar with a free kick as Rangers romped to a 4-0 Europa League win. Barisic, in an interview in a Croatian publication, can't wait to work with Gerrard again this season after brushing off doubts about his future at Rangers. He said: "The truth is I couldn't get back into the team last season after an injury because they kept winning games. That's the way it is with Rangers - they are a great club with great players. "I really have a brilliant relationship with Steven Gerrard. We talk about tactics and current issues. There are no problems. I feel great here and I am completely devoted to Rangers. Life in Glasgow is really good." The left-back also revealed his determination to have a successful season this term after making a goalscoring start against St Joseph's. Barisic said: "I had a week off during the summer, but decided to use that vacation to do additional training instead. "I did it to try and make sure I was ready for the new season ahead. So it was nice to hit that free kick against St Joseph's. Some people gave the goal to me and others to Connor Goldson, but it doesn't matter anyway. "I know all about the philosophy of the club. It's all about winning and I want to be a part of it."

Bobby Shearer's medal collection to go up for auction By National Newsdesk Hannah Murphy from McTear's with Bobby Shearer's European Cup Winner's Cup finalist medal, left TWENTY-ONE medals belonging to late Rangers star Bobby Shearer are going under the hammer this month. The collection, which is being sold by the footballer’s family, is believed to be the largest set of Rangers medals to feature in a single auction. Covering the period 1955 to 1965, they include the former captain’s League Cup and League Championship medals from the Rangers treble-winning 1963/64 season, which could fetch £1500 and £2500 respectively. They will go under the hammer at McTear’s Sporting Medals and Trophies Auction in Glasgow on July 19. The sale will also include the player’s finalist medal from the European Cup Winner’s Cup in 1961, which Rangers lost over two legs to Fiorentina. Experts believe the lot could sell for up to £3000. Shearer’s widow Helen said: “I wasn’t a big football fan but I enjoyed going to the games to support Robert. He loved playing for Rangers and was very well respected by all the players. He was tough on the pitch but always fair. “He had lots of football friends, including a lot of folk at Celtic. He was honoured to become the captain of Rangers Football Club and captained the treble-winning team in 1963/64. “There are a lot of lovely memories tied in to the collection, and the family are keeping a few medals, but to be honest I think the time is right for the others to come out of their boxes and to be passed on to football fans who will treasure them.” During his time at Ibrox, he won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups, and also played four times for Scotland. He died on November 6 2006, aged 74. Brian Clements, from McTear’s, said: “Bobby Shearer was a true Rangers legend who picked up every honour going in the Scottish game, including a treble haul of medals in season 1963/64. “We see a lot of Old Firm medals coming through the doors at McTear’s but this is by far the largest collection associated with a single player. “There are some fantastic individual pieces; however, the collection as a whole paints a fascinating picture of Rangers success from 1955 to 1965. I have no doubt there will be considerable interest in the auction.” In addition to the Rangers items, the Bobby Shearer collection also includes medals from the player’s time in the RAF in the early 1950s.

"I was speaking to him and I just got a feel for what he was like as a person and that was something that pushed me towards Rangers. "It was a very big factor. You know what he's done in the game. I just felt comfortable with him and I just thought it was a no-brainer. That was just after the play-off final'.

Saturday, 13 July 2019, 12:00 by Rangers Football Club 2933 RANGERS are delighted to announce the signing of Swedish defender Filip Helander from Bologna, subject to international clearance. The 6ft 4in centre half has spent the last four seasons in Italy’s top flight, Serie A, but will now join the Light Blues on a four-year deal. Helander, 26, is a regular in Janne Andersson’s Swedish international side and in 2015 he won the European Under-21 Championship with his country. Helander today said: “I am delighted to be joining Rangers, it’s a special club with tremendous fans and a unique history. “The opportunity to work with a manager like Steven Gerrard was an easy decision to make. Before that, he started his career at Malmo, making his debut at the age of 18 and winning the league title in 2013 and a league and Swedish Super Cup double in 2014, a year in which he was named Allsvenskan defender of the year. Helander also experienced Europa League and Champions League football with his hometown club. In July 2015, at the age of 22, he moved to Verona in Italy and in his first season he made 26 appearances and scored two goals, against Lazio and Inter. A season-long loan switch to Bologna followed in August 2016 and Helander then joined the Rossoblu (red and blues) permanently a year later for a reported fee of £1.8 million. In 2016/17 and 2017/18 the towering stopper made 41 appearances at club level before being named in Sweden’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He added a further 24 last season and featured in four of Sweden’s European Championship qualifying matches this year – against Romania and Norway in March and Malta and Spain in June. A combative, strong performer who has experience of playing at the highest level, Helander will now provide Steven Gerrard with another excellent defensive option to play alongside Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic or George Edmundson in the centre of the Gers backline. -

Not a expert on Scottish Gaelic but would think Ford is more likely.

Ibrox – Ath Bruic – meaning ‘the badger’s ford’ Ibrox (/ˈaɪbrɒks/; Scottish Gaelic: Àth Bruic, lit. 'badger ford', pronounced [aːʰ ˈpɾɯʰkʲ]) is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde and is part of the former Burgh of Govan.[1]

In 1840 most of the Govan area was farmland and the country estates and houses of the better off. From the east, estates and mansions identified on old maps were Plantation, Mavisbank and Haughhead, Cessnock, Miln Park, Craigiehall, Broomloan, Moorepark, Hillock House (named after the nearby Doomster Hill), and Merrylands. Beyond the parish church there were Teucharhill, Craigton, Cardonell, Bern/know, Greenfield, Fairfield, Merryflats, Linthouse, Greenhead, and Shieldhall. Farms were Whitefield, Ibrox, Broomloan, Craigton, Greenside, Langlands, Drumoyne East, Mid Drumoyne and West Drumoyne, Holmfauldhead, Moss, and Hardga The writer remembers seeing the buildings of West Drumoyne, Shieldhall and Hardgate farms in the 1930s. The latter farm stood in Renfrew Road opposite the SCWS complex of factories. Shieldhall Farm occupied the land between Hardgate Road and the Southern General Hospital, and behind the Clyde Sawmill & Wood Storage Go's yard. Holmfauldhead Farm buildings survived in Elder Park until the late 1990s by being used for the storage of Glasgow City Council Parks Department equ

https://mobile.twitter.com/davefergi/status/1148313365934010368 Seen a couple of vans with Ibrox Park on them driving around in Brisbane’s bay side. Thought it was maybe a supporters business. Didn’t realise it’s the descendants of the old owners of Ibrox farm who sold the land to Rangers to build Ibrox.
