  4. Steven Gerrard “You need two who are as good, hungry and dangerous as each other,” he said, as quoted by the Scotsman. “They have to understand it will be horses for courses – sometimes Jermain will suit an opposition, sometimes it will be Alfredo.” “For sure, we are going to need both of them firing if we are to have any ambitions of moving forward. There is also a debate that we may need to get a third striker, even though we have other options who can play there.”

  7. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/you-created-a-wonderful-atmosphere-rangers-fans-lavished-with-praise-by-danish-police-1-4980058 Rangers fans have been lavished with praise by Danish police.More than 700 supporters of the Ibrox side took in their team's 4-2 win over FC Midtjylland at the MCH Arena.Alfredo Morelos gave Steven Gerrard's men a half-time lead before Joe Aribo and Nikola Katic put the side three up. The Danes hit back and brought it back to 3-2 but Scott Arfield added what could prove to be a crucial fourth for Rangers. It was reported on Wednesday that Midtjylland had increased security for the match following incidents at Rugby Park on Sunday for the Govan side's opening league fixture. However, as expected by the Danish side's security manager, Lars Pedersen, who said the club's impression was that Rangers fans "are ordinary people who just want to enjoy themselves and enjoy a good football match", there were no incidents to speak of.And that was backed up by local police who tweeted praise for Rangers and their fans. MV-Jyllands Politi posted: "Congratulations to Rangers FC. What a match! Together with FC Midtjylland fans you created a wonderful athmosphere at the stadium. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Herning. We wish you a safe jouney back to Scotland."A Rangers fan replied: "When ticketing systems & turnstiles are properly governed, when the local police and stewards welcome you, when the local pubs and restaurants entertain you, we do love to mix with others and enjoy the atmosphere and occasion. Thanks for having us and showing others how it’s done."Another said: "It's amazing how far a bit of mutual respect will go ... it will never catch on in Scotland!"

  11. Further update on BBC Scotland dispute Dear Member, Following the Club 1872 update last week regarding BBC Scotland and their ongoing, dishonest coverage of Rangers Football Club, BBC Scotland responded refuting our comments and selectively addressing certain points. BBC Scotland claimed in their statement that Rangers had not alerted them to the launch of the Everyone Anyone campaign and that the exclusion of Chris McLaughlin from Ibrox “severely restricts” their ability to report on Rangers. Unfortunately, BBC Scotland are once again being economical with the truth. Several BBC Scotland journalists were notified, not once but twice, about the launch of the Everyone Anyone campaign and received a press release about the initiative. To say that Rangers did not alert BBC Scotland to the launch, and the broader initiative, is simply not true. We would question why BBC Scotland would issue such a misleading and disingenuous response to our concerns over their refusal to cover a very positive initiative by Rangers Football Club. It is a serious matter for a publicly funded body to mislead licence payers who, however reluctantly, fund their work. We also note that BBC Scotland did not address our concerns regarding the contributor that they continue to present as a neutral commentator on their current affairs programmes, despite senior production staff being aware of a back catalogue of hate speech by that individual towards Rangers supporters. We fully back Rangers stance in not providing Chris McLaughlin with press privileges for Ibrox following his repeated, biased and dishonest coverage of our club. For BBC Scotland to suggest that his exclusion hinders their ability to report properly from Ibrox is also disingenuous. In fact, by any sensible measure, his exclusion marginally increases the chance that BBC Scotland might finally meet their obligations for fair and accurate reporting - something they continue to fall short of on a weekly basis. Since BBC Scotland issued their response, they have been forced to correct a misleading headline about Steven Gerrard’s comments in a press conference ahead of a recent European tie. Even after the initial correction, the headline was still misleading. BBC pundits Michael Stewart and Tom English have also taken to social media and BBC Sportsound to make a number of offensive, ignorant and irresponsible comments about Rangers supporters who found themselves caught up in crushing outside Rugby Park on Sunday. These comments are the subject of further complaints to BBC Scotland. BBC Scotland should stop short changing Scottish licence fee payers and begin to address the poisonous culture within Pacific Quay towards Rangers Football Club and our supporters. 13. Rangers: Eros Grezda set to leave Ibrox, agent says 06 August 2019 Rangers Image copyrightSNS Image captionEros Grezda was with Rangers' youth team in Berwick on Tuesday Rangers winger Eros Grezda is close to agreeing his Ibrox exit as he edges towards a move to France, according to his agent. The Albania international has not started for Steven Gerrard's side since December and not played since April. But the 24-year-old, who has three years left on his Rangers contract after joining from Osijek 12 months ago, could be set to leave. "We have some opportunities for Eros," agent Ives Cakarun said. "It looks like he will be leaving the club quite soon. There are a few French clubs interested, but we must wait and see who he joins. "He wants to get his future sorted quickly. He wants to get back playing on the big level. "It's a pity he can't get his chance in Glasgow, but everything is okay. Rangers are being correct. We just need to wait and see." Grezda travelled with Rangers' youth team who faced Berwick Rangers in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday. Speaking last month, Gerrard backed the winger to reignite his career elsewhere. "I think he has found the whole game here and demands here tough," he said. "There is still a talent there. "I have no doubt he can go to a league, a team and a manager that might suit his style and be a success."
  14. Club1872 Tweer It’s difficult to know who we should go with here, the scores of eye witnesses reporting being trapped between a non functioning turnstile, a wall and a line of police horses or the BBC Scotland rugby correspondent, who wasn’t there.
  15. Chelsea apology over ex-chief scout Eddie Heath's 'unchallenged' sex abuse By Dan Roan and Jack Skelton BBC Sport Young Chelsea players were targeted for years by a "prolific and manipulative sexual abuser" who was able to operate "unchallenged", says a damning report. Evidence from 23 witnesses details how ex-chief scout Eddie Heath, who died in 1983, groomed and abused young boys aged between 10 and 17 in the 1970s. An external review said some adults at Chelsea must have been aware of Heath's abuse but "turned a blind eye". In a statement, Chelsea's board apologised "unreservedly". The report - led by barrister Charles Geekie QC - is also heavily critical of former assistant manager Dario Gradi, who is accused of failing to tell more senior club staff about an allegation regarding the sexual conduct of Heath, brought to him by the parent of a young player. Gradi's alleged failure to report the claim "was a lost opportunity to expose Heath and prevent further abuse". The BBC has approached 78-year-old Gradi for comment. In his evidence to the review, he denied trying to "smooth over" the matter in a meeting with the boy's father. He also said he reported the allegations to the club's assistant manager. Meanwhile, a separate review into allegations of racial abuse from 1982 up until the late 1990s conducted by charity Barnado's concluded that "black players were subjected to a daily tirade of racial abuse".

  17. Club 1872 Statement on Kilmarnock FC Safety Issues Dear Member, Club 1872 has received multiple eye witness reports from supporters trapped outside Rugby Park prior to, and following, kickoff in yesterday’s Kilmarnock vs Rangers game. These reports describe crushing, supporters fainting and actions from both stewards and police that made the situation worse. We note the comments of Kilmarnock director, Phyllis McLeish who has claimed that the unsafe situation outside the ground was the result of searches and fans’ impatience. Ms McLeish’s comments are simply not true and appear to be a deliberate attempt to shift the blame for the breakdown of Kilmarnock's new ticketing system. We have reports of fans waiting up to 45 mins to enter the ground. The delays were a direct result of this new ticketing system, which failed and put Rangers supporters in danger. We are aware of a video which appears to show Rangers supporters opening an access gate in response to pleas from supporters further back in the crowd. This has been characterised negatively by various media outlets including the Daily Record and BBC Scotland journalists. Having watched and listened to the video in question, there is genuine concern from distressed supporters that there is a dangerous situation building up in the crowd and that this gate should be opened to relieve pressure. This concern matches the eye witness accounts, from those further back in the crowd, which we have described above. The situation would never have arisen if the ticketing entry system at Rugby Park had been working properly. As usual, there has been a rush from certain elements of the press to blame Rangers supporters for this incident. We would remind them, Ms McLeish and others that it is the responsibility of Kilmarnock FC and their directors to ensure that visiting supporters are safe. It is quite clear that the ticketing entry arrangements were not fit for purpose and that this created an unnecessary situation at the turnstiles which placed Rangers supporters in danger. We will be submitting the reports we have received to Rangers and urging them to ensure that Kilmarnock FC and their directors make proper arrangements in future and that they are held to account for the shambolic and unsafe situation prior to kickoff. It was Kilmarnock FC's responsibility to make suitable safety and ticketing arrangements - it is absolutely clear they did not. We will liaise with Rangers on this and on events inside the ground and work with them to ensure that Kilmarnock properly address these safety issues ahead of any future visits to Rugby Park.
