What about non board members with a large shareholding? The other guy I was thinking about was Stuart Gibson who became involved via George Taylor. Just found an article from 2 years ago where he says he would not be joining the board, things change though. Wondering if a take over is planned by the far east people in the next few years?
-
Documents filed with companies house today confirm George Taylor’s appointment to the board of RIFC plc. Also, he’s allotted the title of ‘person with significant control’ of the company alongside Barry Scott, Julian Wolhardt and Alastair Johnston.
-
Who was the other guy from far east that was also involved with DK? Was there not a rumour about further major investment from there?
-
Sorry about that. We mix up. Will sort it out.

As title 79 years old.

Contributor Blog Post Dear Contributor, We are pleased to be presenting Contributor blogs again, with a piece looking at BBC Scotland ending Rangers boycott To view the blog, please click here. Contributors who are interested in writing for Club 1872, are welcome to contact us at info@club1872.co.uk. Best wishes, Club 1872 BBC Scotland End Rangers Boycott July 27, 2022 Contributors Blog Since August 2015, when Rangers banned the then BBC Scotland Sport Chief Reporter Chris McLaughlin, BBC Scotland have boycotted Ibrox. They refused to send staff to cover Rangers games in a show of solidarity with their journalist/presenter. Rangers did not ban the BBC. In some quarters it has been misconstrued for near seven years that Rangers had banned the Corporation. Many Rangers fans, as individuals or as groups, had voiced concerns, written letters or emails and generally showed a displeasure that they, as licence payers, were not getting their interests covered by the BBC. Others had complained heavily to the BBC about many instances of impartial reporting and complete bias against the club. In 2019 Club 1872’s complaint about Tom English’s vile comments on the safety of Rangers fans at an away game was upheld and BBC Scotland have on numerous occasions penned apologies for inaccuracies. Last week’s “apology” is not new. It’s a rehash of previous apologies and is no different to any previous apology. They stated “The BBC acknowledges that there have been occasions when parts of the coverage of Rangers FC have not met its editorial standards. It has apologised for those instances and is happy to repeat those apologies now.” Find out how to become a contributor So last week saw no new apology, only a “repeat” of previous ones. This whole sorry tale ignited so long ago that if you’d smashed a mirror in anger when the BBC had not “met its editorial standards” your self inflicted run of bad luck would be almost over. The straw that broke the camel’s back appears to have been a sports reporter’s haste to report on two arrests for alleged sectarian singing during a game v Hibs when Police Scotland actually praised the behaviour of both sets of fans. McLaughlin managed to pen and submit his piece, where he quoted crime reports, even before he scribbled his match report, which was the reason he was at Easter Road that day. But his ban wasn’t for this single act of biased journalism, it was more inline with a totting up of points or persistent fouling. Both of which weren’t unique to McLaughlin. So what has changed now after the BBC and Rangers statements? Very little, if anything at all. There’s been no comment made regarding the ban on Chris McLaughlin but with him no longer working for BBC Scotland “Sport” it’s unlikely that he’d be anywhere near Ibrox on match days anyway. There were no assurances within the BBC statement about future “balanced” reporting nor was there any mention of any retort from Rangers to any future biased reporting. Nothing seems to have changed except BBC Scotland ending their self inflicted seven year exile. No new apology, no new assurances and no mention if they’re going to pay any sum for access to Rangers which was a prerequisite for journalist access last season. The hope is that BBC Scotland have learned from their mistakes but with the extended employment of Chris McLaughlin, Tom English and Michael Stewart amongst their ranks, it’s doubtful any new-found balance or neutrality will be long lasting. Go smash a mirror and I’ll bet you even money that a bias creeps back in before your good luck returns. Join Club 1872 All Rangers, and the fans, ever wanted was fair journalism. All the BBC seemed to do was to let their journalists write and say what they wanted and then pen a worthless apology several days later. “Eat, Sleep, Slag Rangers, Repeat” may have been a suitable slogan in the corridors at 40 Pacific Quay for a while. It remains to be seen if this motto remains. The hope must be that someone somewhere in their riverside HQ can keep a rope on those who appear over anxious to report Rangers in as poor a light as possible. Will some of their agents be able to hold back their obvious hatred of our club and stick to being balanced and neutral? I think that’s doubtful and the best chance of the amnesty remaining is if those in power at the BBC are firm enough in the management of their staff. If not, we will inevitably see “Eat, Sleep, Complain to the BBC, Repeat” return as a pastime for our support. Fingers crossed. Yours John Logie Beard

https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/fan-engagement-update/yCljgHkAfEFTy9032qh2r RANGERS is pleased to confirm details of several new supporter focused initiatives that aim to put fans at the heart of the club. Fan engagement is critical to Rangers’ success, and the Rangers board are committed to driving best-in-class fan engagement experience and ensuring supporters voices are heard at every level. Rangers SLO Greg Marshall, who has recently returned from Frankfurt after attending the European Football Fans Congress, said: "Following our experiences in Europe and viewing what many other elite European sides have in place, we have plans to expand and grow our Fan Engagement Department and improve this crucial link we have with our fans. "The increased emphasis and investment in fan engagement will include several exciting new roles solely dedicated to ensuring that supporters’ voices are heard, alongside new and renewed initiatives to quantify feedback to the inform the key decisions taken at the club. In recent years, the world has changed, but Rangers supporters have remained loyal, and we must evolve our processes so that the connection between club and our global support continues to thrive." The key to strengthening engagement will be the introduction of regular structured dialogue between the support and the club. Rangers will hold these meetings at Ibrox and across the UK. The notes and key outputs from these meetings will be shared with all supporters via the clubs official website. Supporters can register their interest in attending any of the meetings HERE. For those who cannot attend, Rangers will issue a supporter survey that we would encourage supporters to complete. Furthermore, structured dialogue with Rangers Supporters Clubs will also take place to shape the future of a vital section of the Rangers community. The content of all structured dialogue will be shared with the Rangers board to inform decision-making and help shape the future of Rangers FC. The Fan Engagement Department will also host a drop-in session on Wednesday 10th August from 11am – 4pm in Copland House, where supporters are welcome to discuss any topics that they feel are important to them. As further outreach, we are inviting supporters to submit questions to be answered via a new feature named 'Ask Rangers' which will seek to provide a new insight into the club . To submit a question, please email slo@rangers.co.uk with the subject line 'Fan Engagement Q&A'. Other new initiatives include: Introducing a brand new matchday team to liaise with supporters and provide feedback on key issues. These exciting new roles will be ideal for dedicated Rangers supporters and will be appointed from within the Rangers community Increased engagement with the local community to improve the matchday experience for supporters and local residents. Continued expansion of our newly launched Customer Service department, which includes 6 full-time staff focused on answering supporter queries Post match surveys to highlight and quantify match experience Exploring cutting-edge technology to help gather and quantify supporter sentiment online For any questions or feedback on any of the above, please reach out to slo@rangers.co.uk

Don’t like it at all, diagonal split red and white not for me. Plus the advertising especially on the sleeve is too much.

Please note that Supporters are encouraged to enter the stadium earlier than usual. We have a number of supporters who will be in unfamiliar seats and as a result we are expecting increased queueing times at the turnstiles. Particularly those in the Broomloan Stand should arrive as early as possible. All Supporters in the Broomloan Rear will have to enter the stadium via Turnstiles 57-60 which are located in the south of the Broomloan Road Stand. Please arrive as early as possible to aid access to the stadium. Supporters who are in the Broomloan Front should enter the stadium via Turnstiles 61-66. The half-time smoking area will not be available in the Broomloan Stand for this fixture. -
Club 1872 Statement on BBC Scotland Dear Contributor, Club 1872 notes today’s announcement by BBC Scotland that they have reached agreement with Rangers to resume coverage for the 2022/23 season, following a period where they refused to adequately cover Rangers games. Whilst cautiously welcoming this development, we note that BBC Scotland has not in fact acknowledged the inherent bias in much of their coverage of the club over the past decade. They have chosen instead to restate the apologies they have already made - the majority of which had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, out of their senior management following detailed complaints from Club 1872 and hundreds of individual Rangers supporters. This climb down by BBC Scotland is a victory for all those supporters, and we thank those supporters for their considerable time and effort, but it does not address the core problem. Without a wholesale change in the culture at BBC Scotland, which does not appear to have taken place, it remains to be seen whether they are able to ensure pundits like Michael Stewart adhere to BBC editorial standards despite multiple breaches involving Rangers in the past. In the meantime, we are pleased that Rangers supporters will once again have access to the coverage that their licence fee pays for. The quality and fairness of that coverage will now be the focus over the coming months.

Craig Houston Appointed Club 1872 Development Manager Dear Contributor Club 1872 is pleased to announce that Craig Houston has taken up the new role of Development Manager for the organisation. Craig previously served Club 1872 as a Director, receiving the largest share of votes at the first ever Club 1872 elections. The Development Manager role will see him tasked with increasing awareness and attracting new members. The Club 1872 Directors are delighted that Craig has accepted the offer to return to the organisation and believe that his experience and skill set will be a great asset. The Board wishes to expand and grow the organisation and this new role is part of many new initiatives being introduced and researched. Craig said: “Club 1872 is already the largest constituted body of Rangers fans and a major shareholder in the club. It can purchase shares and invest in projects that are beneficial to the Rangers community. Both these features should be viewed positively by fans, the club, and the PLC Board." "Rangers fans need no reminder of the club’s history since 2012 and Club 1872 provides a vehicle for fans to engage positively and have a say in any key decisions of major shareholders. The more Contributors we have, the bigger this influence will be and the more Rangers Football Club will benefit from that engagement.” With a career in Sales Management, Craig is aware that Club 1872 must evolve as it grows: “I am keen to develop procedures that make it easier and advantageous for fans to contribute to Club 1872. The true value of the organisation cannot be met until it becomes the norm for Rangers fans to also be Club 1872 Contributors. Recent history has shown us that our fans can influence change at our club and have an incredibly positive impact. Club 1872 can ensure a brighter, better future for Rangers”. “It is easy to forget after occasions such as “55” and Seville that fans can and should play a part in making sure we do not return to the mistakes of the past. Genuine fan engagement can improve the decisions made by the custodians of the club and go some way to preventing a return to our darkest days. Club 1872 can provide that if we can further increase our membership. That will be my aim.”
