Rangers Youths News & Reports on Rangers Youth Teams « Academy Double Header U15’s Take On EPL Academies Rangers Under 15’s travelled through to The Orium today to take on Manchester United and Newcastle United in two fifty minute games, Rangers used a total of twenty-one players which included three U16 players that fitted in with the English U15 age profile and three U16’s who would have been classed as U16’s in England. Rangers 0 Manchester United 0 Rangers were pinned back for most of the game against Manchester United but defended manfully and limited the chances for the opposition. The only time a keeper was called into action came in the first half when an attack took the visitors into the left side of the box with Rydnn Maguire diving to his left to save the shot. Rangers ventured forward once in the first half which saw Olly Goodbrand hit the left hand byline, from his cross Cormack Christie was stretching to reach and could only head the ball over. The second have followed a similar theme with Rangers defending well and limiting the chances so much that Greig Thackray never had to make a serious save. Full-Time:- Rangers 0 Manchester United 0 Rangers First Half:- Rydnn Maguire; Jack Caldwell, Olly Hynd, Duncan Barlow, Olly Goodbrand; Aidan McCallion; Harry Weir, Alex Smith; Ronald Nimyel, Cormack Christie, Flynn O’Brien. Rangers Second Half:- Greig Thackray; Arran Kerr, Evan Molloy, Leo Fisher, Thomas Forrester; Aiden McCallion; Callum Fernie, Lyle Wark; Brandon Ramage, Trialist, Jose Calela. Rangers 1 Newcastle United 1 The second game was a much more even and open affair with Newcastle taking the lead on the half-time whistle and Rangers levelling right at the end of the second half. Rangers were pinned back in the opening five minutes but again defended well with Greig Thackray not being called to make a save. Rangers then mounted an attack on six minutes, Callum Fernie played the ball forward to Jose Calela inside of the box where his touch took him wide of the keeper but he could only shoot into the side netting. A good passing move ended with Arran Kerr picking out Brandon Ramage inside the right side of the box but he shot over. Lyle Wark played the ball forward to Jose Calela whose back heel flick sent the Trialist in a race with the keeper, he got there first but the ball came off the advancing keeper. Newcastle then threatened at the other end with an attack along the right hand byline and from the shot Greig Thackray stuck out a foot to block the shot. A similar chance soon followed and when the shot from a tight angle came in Greig Thackray produced another save. Right on the stroke of half-time when he was beaten by a shot from around thirty yards into the top corner. Rangers had an early chance after the break when Ronald Nimyel broke into the right side of the penalty area and when he shot across the face of goal the ball just evaded Flynn O’Brien arriving at the back post. Newcastle replied with an attack of their own into the right side of the penalty area with the shot being deflected just wide of Rydnn Maguire’s left hand post. Keeper and defender then prevented Newcastle doubling their lead, the attack came into the left side of the penalty area, Rydnn Maguire dived to his left to parry the shot and a brilliant Duncan Barlow challenge prevented a certain goal at the far post. With the final whistle imminent Alex Smith released the Trialist into the right side of the box where he shot across the keeper into the far corner. Injuries to Olly Goodbrand and Cormack Christie forced Rangers into two second half substitutions. Full-Time:- Rangers 1 Newcastle United 1 RangersFirst Half:- Greig Thackray; Arran Kerr, Evan Molloy, Leo Fisher, Thomas Forrester; Callum Fernie: Lyle Wark, Alex Smith; Brandon Ramage, Trialist, Jose Calela. Rangers Second Half:- Rydnn Maguire; Jack Caldwell, Olly Hynd, Duncan Barlow, Olly Goodbrand (Arran Kerr); Aidan McCallion; Harry Weir, Alex Smith; Ronald Nimyel, Cormack Christie (Trialist), Flynn O’Brien.

Missing both Belgium U21 games due to “small injury”.

I believe this was organised by the UB. Is the demand to get rid of Wilson and Robertson only? There’s no criticism of the main board involved, other than employing these two?

Good news. -
No idea how accurate this organisation is. https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/joel-piroe-swansea-city-latest-transfer-rumours-updates/ RANGERS NEWS Rangers send scouts to watch Joel Piroe ByChloe Chadwick Posted on 15 March 2023, 19:15 Glasgow Rangers have sent scouts to watch Joel Piroe ahead of a potential move to the Scottish Premiership, according to reports. THE LOWDOWN: ALONGSIDE WHITTAKER? The Light Blues are believed to still be in contact with Swansea City regarding a summer deal for Morgan Whittaker having failed to land him in January and it appears that he isn’t the only player Michael Beale is targeting. The Dutchman has now entered the final 18 months of his contract in Wales, and being Russell Martin’s top-performing offensive player, has caught the eye of the hierarchy at Ibrox. The Championship outfit are having the kind of season where they aren’t in any real danger but neither are they going to achieve anything so the striker could be tempted to look elsewhere should he want to progress his career further. - According to Football League World, Rangers (and by extension sporting director Ross Wilson) have been ‘scouting’ Piroe in ‘recent weeks’ and would offer a ‘different type of opportunity’ should he decide to make the move north of the border. Burnley, Middlesbrough and Norwich City are also ‘keeping tabs’ on the 23-year-old, whilst Crystal Palace and Everton both ‘explored’ a deal in January, though nothing ever came to fruition. Sources believe that Swansea are ‘at risk’ of losing their standout performer as a result of failing to properly get themselves going under Martin, so this could be one to watch in the months ahead. Piroe has been dubbed a ‘danger man’ by journalist Josh Bunting and Rangers need to act fast should they want to secure his services ahead of their fellow competitors. The Wijchen native has clocked up 13 goals and provided one assist in 34Championship appearances so far this season where he’s currently averaging 3.2 shots per 90 minutes. The 6 foot 1 star also ranks in the 95th percentile for pass completion, showing his excellent ability to link up well with his teammates, and the 91st percentile for most progressive passes (FBRef). Despite naturally being a centre-forward, the left-footed ace has played in fivedifferent positions since the start of his career and is comfortable operating anywhere across the frontline. The Teddy Bears have to head into the summer window on a mission to recruit players that will be able to have a significant impact on the side and get them competing with Celtic again and Piroe is certainly the perfect candidate to come in and do just the job. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-unveil-new-rangers-ready-concept/4L61PGUoMBU1ZeSd26YLbu RANGERS Football Club are today thrilled to unveil ‘Rangers READY’ – an all-new nationwide concept in children’s football development in Scotland. Rangers READY will further enhance our Academy’s offering to young people not only in the Glasgow area, but right across Scotland. Seven new centres will open across the country including cities such as Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Dundee. This innovative, exciting offering for young, primary-aged kids allows them to learn, grow and explore in a fun and engaging environment that supports and challenges young people who desire to learn and develop in a playful and creative way. In addition, it will see Rangers build strong relationships with the grassroots football community. This, however, is not a ‘community programme’ as driven by our Academy, Rangers READY is free for the selected kids and a genuine attempt to change how we develop young footballers in their earliest years experiencing the game. Those selected kids will be chosen by Rangers’ extensive scouting network to come and experience the Rangers READY programme. Rangers READY is designed to allow children to develop a love for the game and, perhaps most importantly, the ball. As such, Academy Head of Coaching, Zeb Jacobs, has designed a unique, evidence-based play programme, taking his own experiences in Belgium and combing them with lots of research from countries such as Germany, that is exciting, fun and will stimulate curiosity. All of the team delivering Rangers READY will offer a unique and different programme full of playfulness, movement skills and lots of competitive 1v1 to 3v3 practice designed to create a strong long-term love of the sport. Rangers READY is an all-new concept, which young people and their parents will feel from the moment they arrive at the venue, different from any Academy model previously implemented. There is no retention or release for kids this young, only fun and games, and that is why every block will see all players leave the centre at the end of the term and new invites issued for the following school term. We don’t believe in the existing model of labelling six, seven and eight-year-olds ‘elite’ and adding pressure to an already challenging childhood. We want to offer parents and their kids a new alternative and hopefully create an affinity with the club that will make Rangers their preferred choice when selection occurs at an older age. Rangers Academy Director, Craig Mulholland, commented: “Our team have worked on developing the new Rangers READY concept for almost a year. Our starting point was that we simply don’t believe in labelling kids who may only have been playing the game for less than 12 months ‘elite’. “All of the research Zeb has led tells us we need to change how children learn. We must engage with them and create that love of the game in a playful way. We also spoke with many parents and didn’t like the pressure they felt when professional clubs became involved, so we decided to create a different offering which will benefit Rangers, Scottish football, and most importantly, the parents and the child. "So, whether you are attending the Rangers READY in Aberdeen or the Ayrshire, the feeling, the environment and the research-based content will be the same. We looked at what they do in Portugal, France, Germany, Belgium and many other countries and are now really clear on what we want engagement with Rangers to feel like when the kids are so young. We are really excited by this new concept which we believe will change the pre-Academy space in our country. Rangers Head of Coaching, Zeb Jacobs, added: “We looked closely to research about optimal learning environments and tried to understand how a child learns. Based on the outcomes, we saw that ‘play’ needs to be at the heart of Rangers READY. "So, together as a team, we have designed an exciting ‘play programme’ based on research, best practice and experience that allows children to explore and develop in a unique and playful environment. This is why we speak about a ‘play programme’ and not a curriculum, a child and not a player and an experience and not a pathway.”

16tomlawrence Verified Appreciate all the messages over the past week off everyone, not how I wanted my first season to go at rangers with injuries and after trying everything over the past 5 months in and out of the gym the only solution was to have surgery and get ready to play again next season. Surgery went well and I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch in the near future 💙

In the league mistakes may not cost you the title, In a cup game they usually do. MB was the guy who spoke about signings not being squad fillers, legs in midfield etc.
-
I agree if we can afford it. We are getting mixed messages from the manager on close season signings expenditure. My priority is the men’s team. Could be the women’s team net outlay is less than £1M? I have no idea how many ST’s are sold etc.
-
Could we get a decent goalie for that?
-
Apart from Lawrence injury quote I would see he’s spot on.
-
Anyone know how much it costs the club to run the women’s team?
